Hello Doctors! My name is Delia and I am a senior medical language trainer for Top Language Academy. This Podcast is for you if you need to improve your English in order to sit the OET exam for doctors. This podcast is meant to help you prepare for the role play. As you might already know, FOR THE SPEAKING TEST YOU NEED TO ACHIEVE a score of minimum 350 or more. All you need to do is to follow the role play card and ensure that all bullet points in the card have been fully addressed. At the same time, listen to the patient's concerns and answer them satisfactorily. Bear in mind that time management is an extremely important factor as the interlocutor will stop the recorder at 5 minutes. Role Play Card SETTING: SUBURBAN GENERAL PRACTICE DOCTOR: This 43 years old woman is attending the practice after being discharged from hospital. She suffered a heart attack. She complains about being tired. TASK: · Find out what is worrying the patient and be reassuring. Some fatigue is to be expected. It usually takes some weeks before full energy levels return. · Find out if the patient had a surgery. Find out if she rests and has enough sleep. · Reassure the patient that her concerns are appropriate and that the medical team has undergone all medical procedures while she was hospitalized. · Explain the importance of cardiac rehabilitation and the way it could improve her general health and prevent her from having another heart attack. Explain that the physiotherapists are professionals that can help her exercise in proper conditions. · Provide recommendations for prevention of future heart attacks (diet, relaxation, physical exercise)
