Thomas Fabius, fils de l'ancien président du Conseil constitutionnel Laurent Fabius, fait de nouveau parler de lui en avril 2025 à la faveur d'une opération immobilière retentissante. Il est en effet au cœur de l'acquisition de l'« îlot Chirac », un ensemble prestigieux situé dans le très chic 7ᵉ arrondissement de Paris. Estimé à 165 millions d'euros, cet îlot, composé de quatre immeubles datant de 1911 avec vue sur la Tour Eiffel, représente l'une des plus grandes transactions immobilières parisiennes récentes. Cette opération a été menée avec le soutien d'investisseurs suisses et luxembourgeois, ainsi que du groupe Pierre Rénovation Tradition (PRT).Cette nouvelle orientation vers l'immobilier de prestige constitue un véritable tournant dans la trajectoire de Thomas Fabius, souvent qualifiée de sulfureuse. Longtemps connu non pas pour ses réussites professionnelles, mais pour ses démêlés avec la justice, il a souvent fait la une des médias pour ses activités controversées. En 2012, il avait notamment fait l'objet d'un mandat d'arrêt aux États-Unis, émis par l'État du Nevada, pour une série de chèques sans provision émis dans plusieurs casinos de Las Vegas. Le montant total de ces dettes s'élevait alors à 3,5 millions de dollars. L'affaire avait éclaboussé son nom sur la scène internationale, soulignant des pratiques jugées irresponsables et relevant d'un train de vie excessif.D'autres affaires en France ont également mis en cause son train de vie et ses investissements immobiliers jugés disproportionnés par rapport à ses revenus déclarés. En 2013, une enquête avait été ouverte concernant l'achat d'un appartement à Paris pour plus de 7 millions d'euros, alimentant des soupçons de blanchiment.Dans ce contexte, l'acquisition de l'îlot Chirac peut être perçue comme une tentative de réhabilitation. Travaillant sur ce projet depuis trois ans, Thomas Fabius semble vouloir redorer son image et s'imposer comme un acteur sérieux dans le secteur de l'immobilier haut de gamme. Là où les tables de jeux laissaient place à la démesure, il semble désormais miser sur la rigueur financière et les projets structurés.Toutefois, si ce repositionnement marque un nouveau chapitre, il reste sous surveillance. Le passé de Thomas Fabius continue de nourrir la méfiance dans certains cercles économiques et politiques. Reste à voir si cette reconversion marquera un réel renouveau ou une nouvelle zone d'ombre.
