Mark used a few different times that Jesus told parables about seeds to tell us something about faith.
Mark spent a little time establishing that Jesus came with authority, and we needed to listen to Him. Now Mark wants to talk about what things Jesus thinks we need to correct first.
We are reading through the book of Mark. This week, is Mark 1:1-2:12. The big point? Jesus isn't just powerful - He's King.
There are many great things we can pursue in our faith. But what are the greatest?
How can struggles in this life be 'gain' in Christ? What kind of perspective do we need to have?
In Philippians, Paul said 'To live is Christ, and to die is gain'. What did he mean by 'to live is Christ'?
God calls us to a faith that stands firm on our convictions, rather than waivers through our circumstances.
We are called to do more than serve Jesus. We are called to look like Him.
What ministry did Jesus leave us on Earth? What did He want us to continue doing, that He started?
What motivated Jesus? Why did He come to Earth? Why did He die on a cross?
Jesus came to bring people back into a relationship with God. What method did He use before He went to the Cross?
We need to learn how to stay in step with the Spirit.
It's not enough to simply receive Jesus - He's called us to produce, too.
We need to have faith like a fortress where our family can take refuge.
The apostles performed miracles. People got together and supported each other. More people met Christ. The middle part is very important!
Jesus called us to be the salt of the earth and a city on a hill.
The Holy Spirit works best when we go out. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit was meant to push us towards mission.
God's community of believers was upside down from the beginning - and we should be too. Maybe the new thing God is doing isn't so new.
When everything seems hopeless – God wants to teach us something new about hope.
We are going through a rough time in the world. But God is still moving, and still working. Let's pay attention to the new things He does.
The death of Jesus wasn't the end of the story. It was the beginning.
Our sins deserve death and separation from God. But the Cross changed all that.
We use the word 'sin' a lot, but what does it mean? And how does it relate to our connection with God?
We measure our spiritual growth by how many times God answers us here and now. God measures it by how faithful we are to His plan.
Forgiveness is a gift - spiritual growth is a training program. And we have the best Trainer in the universe.
In the New Testament, God doesn't only talk about the tithe - He has a greater expectation for what we do with everything in our lives.
