Biology I: Basics of Life is one of the courses offered by the Faculty of Education and Languages at Open University Malaysia (OUM). This course is offered to all students taking the Bachelor of Teaching majoring in Science (with Honours) programme.
Episode 3 discusses the types of nutrition, classes of food and a balanced diet. It also discusses food chains and food webs in a habitat, and photosynthesis. Lastly it discusses food technology and a healthy diet.
Episode 5 covers control and maintenance of body fluids. It includes a discussion on the lymphatic and circulatory systems, osmoregulation, and body defense system. Lastly, it discusses transport in plants.
Episode 6 discusses respiration and gas exchanges in both plants and animals.
Episode 7 describes locomotion and support in various animals and the nervous system. It also discusses response and coordination in both plants and animals.
Episode 1 begins with the variety of life in plants and animals and their characteristics as living things. It also discusses the seven life processes of plants and animals, and basic needs of plants and animals.
Episode 2 introduces prokaryotes and eukaryotes organisms, the cell structure of plants and animals, and discusses the different types of movement of substances across cell membranes.
Episode 4 discusses on digestion in human and other animals. This topic concludes by discussing excretion in plants.
