In the Post Facto Podcast, a couple of nerdy teachers put down the red pen and pick up the mic to talk about games. Each week, Steven and Kiiks discuss topics others have put in the rear view mirror with the perspective only some time and a BA in English can provide.
In our final episode of 2016, we look back on 365 days of pleasant surprises and disappointments and narrow down our favorite games of the year. 2016 was a lot of things, but at least we can appreciate the wealth of games that kept us sane and entirely complacent as totalitarian human farming continues to fuel the war economy.
This week we discuss games we’ve been waiting nearly a decade to play: The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy 15. Kiiks waxes philosophical on Team Ico’s newest tear-jerking cat simulator, while Steven critiques SquareEnix’s boys are back in town adventure. Then, we unleash a Jimmy Fallon-esque fanboy giddiness on the trailers shown during the Playstation Experience 2016, as well as on the newest Nintendo Switch demonstration. Stick around for next week’s Post Facto Awards and feel free to suggest award categories.
On this week’s episode, we discuss The Game Awards after half-watching parts of it. Kiiks reminisces the awkward award shows and press conferences of days long past, while Steven tries to unravel the mysteries of the umbilical cord-laden Death Stranding trailer. Then, we unpack our impressions of the truckloads of games we’ve been playing, including Final Fantasy 15, Pokemon Moon, and Cities: Skylines.
