Can we BE church together when the Coronovirus is keeping us apart? A PRE-pandemic sermon in a POST-pandemic world
1 Corinthians 2:1-12, especially verse 10: 'for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.' Will also mention passages from Matthew 5:13-20
What you can't see is that as the sermon is being preached, Pastor Brett is literally detangling a huge, knotted ball of necklaces that by the end, he's freed at least one necklace from.
Trigger warning for people who hate political sermons. Preached on Christ the King Sunday, a feast day of the church year dedicated to asking the faithful to whom they pledge their allegiance, God or man? If you are going to give it a listen **Stick it through to the end!** (Hint, it ultimately is a sermon about Christ's faithfulness and our call to follow Him as our king!)
an All Saints Sermon, delivered November 3rd, 2019
The story of the Rich man and Abraham is a well known parable from Jesus. A teaching in which by ignoring the poor man Lazarus in life, a great chasm is created between the two in death. But that chasm wasn't a new thing was it? Surely there were many variable that divided the rich and poor men in life. And Jesus has some strong opinions on that. What are the biases; both conscious and unconscious that we have towards other people that create chasms between us today? And how do we address them for Jesus' sake?
Jesus actually tells his followers to hate their families and some other crazy things. Why? Pastor Brett talks about why he actually really loves this passage and how it is a blueprint for discipleship.
