The Essential Oil Revolution –– Aromatherapy, DIY, and Healthy Living w/ Samantha Lee Wright
We all have become so aware of the importance of smell the past few years. Especially during the pandemic when many people lost it. On this week's episode, Hana Tisserand, COO, cofounder and director of operations and communications of the Tisserand Institute joins The Essential Oil Revolution. This week, Hana offers her science based and practical wisdom on essential oils; specifically surrounding that of olfactory retraining. What You Will Learn: 1. The history of the Tisserand Institute and why it transformed from in-person integrative practitioner training in aromatherapy to online holistic training in essential oils. 2. How Hana's unique background influenced her to be an expert in essential oils. This includes her growing up in the Czech Republic, where integrative, conventional, and natural approaches co-exist in pharmacies side-by-side and what led her to meet Robert Tisserand. 3. The importance of smell as a chemosensory experience. For example, it alerts us to danger, influences our taste, stimulates memory, and determines how we interact with the world on a sensory and hedonistic basis. 4. What component found in essential oils are the most communicated “language” in the world. These molecules are shared by every creature on the planet, from single-celled organisms to mammals. 5. How essential oils constituents can still impact our biochemistry and physiology, even if you lose your ability to smell. 6. The concept of olfactory training and how it works. 7. Why specific essential oils or the constituents found within them, phenylethanol (rosy), 1,8-cineole (eucalyptus), citronellal (lemony) and eugenol (clove), are used in smell training. We also discuss if essential oils are more powerful than the single constituents based on their multiple effects. 6. Why olfactory training works the best for those with infections and an intact, functioning trigeminal nerve. 7. Why the aim of the Tisserand Institute is to provide education and information that is accurate, safe, and accessible to all essential oil users vs. preparing one for aromatherapist certification. 8. One thing Hana does for self-care daily. (Hint it has to do with her love of aromas and hot beverages.) 9. The one things Hana feels we should ditch and replace with instead to be healthier. 10. Hana's favorite essential oils hack: Using cotton balls/cotton pads for inhalation. It is super easy, quick, portable, safe, and accessible. Bio of Hana Tisserand Hana Tisserand is the COO, cofounder, and director of operations and communications of the Tisserand Institute, the global leader in online evidence-based essential oils education. Hana has been working at the Tisserand Institute since 2014 and she oversees the creation of its course content and curricula, moderates live webinars, supervises the staff, and teaches her own introductory classes. She also writes the Tisserand Institute newsletters, her own blog posts, and detailed scientific articles. Hana has a unique perspective on how information about essential oils is sourced, processed, and communicated, stemming from her past experiences. She is a sought-after presenter for various prestigious aromatherapy events, including the Alliance of International Aromatherapists and NAHA (National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy). Being raised in a family of doctors and nurses gave Hana an underlying interest in the workings of the human body, which previously manifested in her specialization in medical translation. Her love for science, essential oils, perfumes, and fragrances runs deep, as does her appreciation for fine teas and coffee. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

It defintely sucks to be Craven McCarthy these days and I'm not upset about that. Saving his miserable hide may give decent people a chance to keep the MAGATS from hanging Ukraine out to dry and getting a fully funded government (till we do this again next year). This week we bring back #YayHamlet! Cristina Lundy and Fergie L. Philippe talk about the similarities between Hamilton (the musical) and the works of Shakespeare, and why actors need to honor those pieces in the same way. Hint: no need to overact it; all the words are right there on the page. And they're not saying it's easy! Fergie used to think he had to do Shakespeare in a British accent because FANCY. We also talk about an unrealistic need for all works of art to be perfect and right and accurate when in reality, so much of it is about writers being inspired by, as Cristina says, "the influences that pollinate them as artists." Plus! Dream casting! Cristina and Fergie cast Hamilton actors in a slew of Shakespeare plays, they cast a Ted Lasso Much Ado About Nothing, and then we cast Ted Lasso characters in Hamilton. My guest today is Onelly Hernandez. Onelly helps Latinas with Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism lose weight without counting calories. Onelly came into our conversation totally prepared to perfect her signature system, which made my job so super easy. You see, every coach, whether you know it or not, has a signature system. And when we can give that system a name and really outline what it looks like, three incredible things happen: We feel much more confident as a coach and especially as a marketer. Your audience understands in a concrete way the value of investing with you. Your clients have a roadmap to evaluate their own progress and recommit to the process when they need to. Onelly and I had so much fun putting her New and Improved Signature System together. The key thing I'd like you to listen to is how we shifted away from simply describing what her clients will do in each phase of her system. From there, we leaned into how they'll feel when they hit each milestone in her system. And the difference is powerful. You can actually see Onelly's finished product at the link in the show notes. Take a look now because you may want to use it as a roadmap as you listen along. Two Key Points We'll Cover During the Episode: How to structure a signature system to use as a marketing tool to attract clients who may not understand what it means to work with a coach. The difference between "what we'll do language" and "how you'll feel" language in your marketing. HINT: "how you'll feel" language usually packs a bigger punch. Key Takeaways Simply put, your signature system is a concise way to illustrate your customer journey. When a coach has a clear signature system, you can use it to attract leads into your programs. It's also a roadmap for clients as they move through the coaching journey. Plus, it's a tool that immediately brings more confidence to you, the coach, because it showcases your expertise in an irresistible way. If an instrumental tops the charts, it's probably an earworm: “Tequila.” “Wipeout.” “Dueling Banjos.” “The Hustle.” “Feels So Good.” “Chariots of Fire.” “Axel F.” You can probably whistle or hum several of those from memory. But do you remember the artists? All were one-hit wonders. By and large, instrumental hits throughout chart history were flukes. But there were exceptions: a trumpet player from Los Angeles who pretended to be Latin, made up a fake mariachi band, put sexy models on his album covers and topped the charts almost as much as the Beatles. Or, a try-hard, perm-headed soprano saxophone player from Seattle, who turned holding his breath while playing dizzying runs of notes into an athletic feat. How do songs without words become hits? Why were Herb Alpert and Kenny G so good at it? Why did instrumentals fall off the charts after the '80s—and who is bringing them back? (Hint: think oontz-oontz-oontz.) We all get out of alignment with our inner truth. It's the human dance. The thing is: The inconsistency has a ripple effect. When we are in cognitive dissonance– we don't hear our Higher Self clearly. We're unable to focus and move forward with glide. Ideally… What we believe is embodied in our thoughts, speech, action. We're walking the talk. Here's Episode #85 WITH LOVE, DANIELLE: How we get distracted from the ways we really want to live our life.Hint: the heart centered kind of life. ParentingAces - The Junior Tennis and College Tennis Podcast
Welcome to Season 12 Episode 36 of the ParentingAces Podcast, a proud member of the Tennis Channel Podcast Network. In this week's podcast, Coach Todd Widom is back to talk about the success our US pro players are having this year and why we're not seeing more US junior players showing up on top college tennis teams. This episode was recorded toward the end of the 2023 US Open where we saw 2 American women and 1 American man into the singles semifinals which is a big positive for US professional tennis. That said, the other side of the coin is that we are seeing fewer and fewer American juniors on the rosters of the most desirable college tennis programs. Where's the disconnect? Todd definitely has some thoughts about what's going on in the junior tennis development landscape and what we need to do to make it better. Hint: it involves a culture shift, a parenting shift, and a coaching shift! To contact Todd or to get information on his training, you can reach him at todd@twtennis.com. If you aren't already, be sure to follow him on Facebook and Instagram as well. If you're so inclined, please share this – and all our episodes! – with your tennis community. Episode 6 is probably what you need right about now! With the fall season ramped up, it's easy to focus on "doing" instead of "being." When life as a youth pastor takes on breakneck speed, how do we keep ourselves spiritually healthy and serve from overflow instead of overwork? Then we talk about authors who have influenced our spiritual journey. Hint: most of them are dead. Lastly, in the world of youth ministry, senior pastors get a worse rap than mother-in-laws. But it can be different, and better. We share thoughts and practices that have helped us not only get along with our senior pastors, but helped champion our ministries in the process. Episode 107 - Imagine leftists trying to make a documentary of their own by this episode's same title, like some kind of clever rebuttal to Matt Walsh's wildly successful "What is a Woman?". And, instead of interviewing extremist liberals, they interviewed average, everyday Americans. One wonders with delight how that might play out? Hint: if it went anything like this episode, it'd end in slap-happy hilarity! Chad channels his inner Sweet Baby Gang only to end up laughing (and sniffling) the whole episode through as its lead Super-movie-quoter. Ben fails to capture Chad's point (or keep up with his movie references) but rallies triumphantly at the last second as the gloating cohost. The two try mightily to take this question seriously with (thanks to Ben!) mostly poor results. Why is it that sane, clear-thinking people are made to feel crazy for refusing to ignore biological realities? Can Ben pass the "Are You a Man Test"? And, once and for all, what does the famous '90s hip hop group Salt-N-Pepa say in their hit song: "Wanna man, wanna man..." or "What a man, what a man..."??

Meet Dr. Maggie Abraham, a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist holding the prestigious American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) specialty certification in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. Her journey continued with a rigorous obstetrics and gynecology residency at Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences University in Buffalo, New York, followed by a specialized fellowship in pediatric adolescent gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Abraham's commitment to advancing her knowledge led her to obtain a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from the University of Louisville.Dr. Abraham is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She has contributed significantly to these organizations, serving on various committees, including the ACOG Adolescent Health Committee, for over a decade.Originally from Ireland, Dr. Abraham relocated to the United States in her early twenties, following her American boyfriend, a decision she considers the best she's ever made. This experience shed light on the unfortunate lack of awareness surrounding gynecological conditions in adolescents, leaving them suffering without proper diagnosis or treatment.Driven by a desire to make a difference, Dr. Abraham dedicated her practice to addressing the unique gynecological needs of young people. Before establishing the GYN space, she enjoyed a fulfilling clinical practice for over 12 years.Dr. Maggie Abraham is here to provide expert care and support for pediatric and adolescent gynecological concerns, ensuring a brighter and healthier future for young individuals.---------------------Check out the My DPC Story RESOURCE PAGE HERE!Find a DPC checklist on how to start your own DPC, DPC conference recordings, and more!---------------------LISTENER'S GUIDE!1) RATE and REVIEW our podcast on Apple Podcasts.2) Take a screenshot ***BEFORE you hit submit*** of your review and then email it to support@mydpcstory.comand you'll find the Listener's Guide in your inbox!---------------------HELP FUND THE PODCAST!CLICK HERE to Support the show-------Click the link below to learn more about the Hint's website builder and Elation Health:Hint's Website Builder link: HEREElation Health: HERESupport the showVisit the DPC SWAG store HERE!Let's get SOCIAL! If you're like many hustling solopreneurs out there, you probably find yourself constantly thinking: “I wish I knew what to do at the right time!” “I wish I knew which decision would make everything work the way I want it to…” “I'm overwhelmed and overthinking everything, constantly looking at all the potential negative outcomes…” You just want to figure it out! And our minds want to look for what to DO to make it happen. We're used to validation coming from our accomplishments. But the DOING is not what gets you to 6 figures, 7 figures, and beyond. That's the secret all 7 and 8 figure entrepreneurs know… yet many of them are still selling you the strategy instead of training you how to think to align with where you want to be, not where you are currently. The only thing that matters for you right now is to train your brain to think like a 7 figure entrepreneur so that you can become one so much faster. That's the linchpin – the one thing that causes it all to work! In this episode, I'm getting real about my own journey and where all the DOING led me. Hint: it left me crying on my office floor… and looking for a better way to change lives and find freedom in my own life. The biggest takeaways from today's episode are: It's not your fault that you're always trying to figure out what to DO, always asking for permission, always looking for external validation – you were trained this way in our educational system. You already have a Ph.D. in entrepreneurship at this point, right? The “learning and knowing” is not the problem. It's all about your focus! You CAN go on those amazing vacations you see the 7 and 8 figure entrepreneurs on! Learn how they think about time and what they focus on, and it's all yours. If this is where you are right now, full of frustration that all of the doing isn't working… I want to help you get rid of these blocks in your brain that are keeping you from the growth you're meant for – and compress time so you get it done faster than you ever thought possible. The 67 Day Year program teaches you how to do this – and you can learn it all in just 3 days! You've seen others do it. Today Chad is joined by Buzz Patterson, retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and best-selling author, to get his take on some of the week's top stories and his thoughts on the current state of the country. Detailing some of his early work in the Clinton White House, Buzz discusses what it was like carrying the nuclear football and shares some insight into Bill and Hillary Clinton. Chad and Buzz talk about the White House cocaine-gate scandal, and he gives his opinion of who the baggie belonged to. Hint: it was Hunter's. Buzz talks about the danger of America potentially sending missile systems to Ukraine and assesses the seemingly active attempt to destroy the nation by the Biden administration. As a former Air Force vet, Buzz breaks down the missing F-35 story and explains what likely happened. Was the plane actually hacked by an outside entity? Buzz explains why that would be a major problem for American security. Speaking of the American empire, Buzz and Chad talk about what can be done to save the country. Buzz's answer may surprise you. (Hint: think oontz-oontz-oontz.)
