In the quiet borough of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, the days leading up to Christmas in 1994 should have been filled with the familiar comforts of the season. Instead, an unsettling silence settled over a neighborhood when a young mother and her infant son seemingly vanished without a trace. Their home held troubling clues, their car would soon be found abandoned nearby, and a community accustomed to knowing its neighbors suddenly found itself gripped by fear and uncertainty. As investigators searched for answers, rumors spread through the ornamented streets and suspicion seemed to fall in every direction. What happened inside that small Pennsylvania town would become one of the region's most haunting mysteries: a case marked by compulsion, secrets, and a trail of evidence that only seemed to raise more questions. Tonight, we follow the twists and turns of an investigation that would captivate the Lehigh Valley for years, and uncover a story far darker than anyone could have imagined.Trigger warning: This case involves violence against a child under one.Sponsors:Rula patients typically pay $15 per session when using insurance. Back in February Kim got herself into some internet controversy due to her anonymous(or so she thought) comments about another local photographer. Drama ensued and Kim had to take a step back from social media. The dust has settled and now she is ready to her side of the story along with why she felt compelled to say what she said. Buckle up Dependas! This one is all over the place! Trigger warning: This episode includes discussion of miscarriage and rape. The conversation centers on someone we've observed posting in ways that felt attention-seeking to us; we're not trying to diminish anyone's loss or blame survivors. Based on true events. In August of 1976, three teenagers driving an isolated road outside Whitehall, New York came face to face with a seven-foot creature with glowing red eyes. They did what no one in a monster story is supposed to do — they went straight to the police. And within days, the police saw it too. Trained officers. State troopers. Spotlights. Official reports. What happened on Abair Road turned a tiny Adirondack village into the Bigfoot Capital of the Northeast — a town that eventually passed a law making it illegal to harm the creature. But not everyone who met the Beast of Whitehall drove away with a story. Locals still speak of the ones the woods kept — and of a rifle found leaning against a tree, unfired. Join Carman Carrion for the true story of the Abair Road incident, the police officer who couldn't pull the trigger, and the town that chose to protect its monster. #Whitehall #NewYork #Bigfoot #Sasquatch #AbairRoad #DestinationTerror #Cryptid #BigfootSighting #Adirondacks #BigfootCapital #BeastOfWhitehall #CryptidEncounters #TrueHorror #RealTerror #ParanormalPodcast #HorrorPodcast #DarkHistory #UnexplainedMysteries #CreepyHistory #Eeriecast #CarmanCarrion #TrueStories #Unexplained #MonsterSighting #PoliceReport #SasquatchFestival #HauntedNewYork #Folklore #ListenNow #Spooky EXPLORE MORE SPINE-CHILLING CONTENT: Freaky Folklore: https://www.eeriecast.com/podcasts/freaky-folklore Carman's Crypt (Original Horror): https://www.carman-carrion.com/ Deadly Intent (True Crime): https://www.carman-carrion.com/ Destination Terror: https://www.eeriecast.com/podcasts/destination-terror SUPPORT THE SHOW: Patreon (Ad-Free + Bonus Content): https://www.patreon.com/c/CarmanCarrion Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/carmancarrion CONNECT WITH CARMAN: Website: https://www.carman-carrion.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@CarmanCarrion Twitter/X: https://x.com/CarmanCarrion Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/carmancarrion/ SUBSCRIBE & REVIEW: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0uiX155WEJnN7QVRfo3aQY iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/freaky-folklore/id1550361184 Your support helps bring you more terrifying tales.

Serhii Plokhy describes how by October 20, the Joint Chiefs, led by Curtis LeMay, were pushing for Oplan 312 (a full-scale invasion), accusing Kennedy of "appeasement." Kennedy feared an invasion would trigger a Soviet takeover of West Berlin. He successfully hid the crisis from the media for a week to weigh his options. Choosing the term "quarantine" to avoid a legal act of war, he bought critical time. Meanwhile, Khrushchev fell into a panic in Moscow, fearing an imminent U.S. strike and even considering a false-flag claim that the missiles were under Cuban control. (4)1920
Two cases of New World screwworm were confirmed in the U.S. — in Zavala County. The parasite, carried by flies, targets the live flesh of warm-blooded animals, including cattle, pets, wildlife and humans, causing severe wounds or death. Spread of the New World screwworm could have a major economic impact on the cattle industry.
BUFFALO, NY – June 8, 2026 – A new #research paper was #published in Volume 17 of Oncotarget on June 3, 2026, titled “The anticancer effects of PCAIs in pancreatic cancer cells involve MAPK and PI3K/AKT pathways hyperactivation.” The study was led by first author Kweku Ofosu-Asante and corresponding author Nazarius S. Lamango from the Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health in Tallahassee, Florida. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is among the deadliest forms of cancer, due in large part to the high frequency of KRAS mutations that drive tumor growth and resistance to treatment. Although targeted therapies have recently been developed for specific KRAS mutations, many patients continue to have limited treatment options, highlighting the need for broader strategies capable of targeting multiple KRAS-driven cancers. In this study, researchers investigated a class of experimental compounds known as polyisoprenylated cysteinyl amide inhibitors (PCAIs), which were originally designed to disrupt abnormal KRAS signaling. Using pancreatic cancer cell lines carrying KRAS mutations, the team explored how these compounds affect cancer cell survival, migration, invasion, and the molecular pathways that regulate tumor growth. We went deep into the Dylan Larkin discussion in Episode 129 of The Liberty Yell. We broke down what a realistic trade could be for the almost 30-year-old center, whether it makes sense for the Flyers right now, and how he would fit in with the team. We compared Larkin head-to-head with other (younger) center options the Flyers could potentially look at via trade in Matty Beniers, Mason McTavish, and Shane Wright. We touched a tad on the John Carlson rumors and what we would be willing to pay for the 36-year-old's services, bridging a gap with younger defenseman on the team like David Jiricek and Oliver Bonk. Is it fair to expect Carlson to come in here and fix an extremely broken PP? Are they one guy away? We also discussed the possibility of the defensive core getting shaken up a little here (Seeler, Risto, or maybe even York?). We reached all of your live comments and questions (shoutout Jerry) throughout the episode -- thanks to everyone who took their time to interact with us, it means the world. Is Larkin worth the potential cost? Will he even accept a trade here? Will Detroit even trade him? We got into all of that and a lot more. "The New York Times released their 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters list a short while ago. I know online lists usually have some click bait to start conversation but this list was overtly egregious. Not for who was on it. It was who was left off. We will go over the list and play some artists that should have been on there."
"It is no secret that music contracts can be rather brutal on artists. Often the stories focus on not getting paid but there is also the interesting idea of a lawsuit ordering a musician to fill his or her contract and record what we are calling a court ordered album. We have multiple examples plus one where the band was paid NOT to record an album."
"Sony Music Publishing confirmed an agreement to acquire Blackstone's Recognition Music Group catalog for $3.5 billion. The Red Hot Chili Peppers just sold their catalog for $300 million. How does one invest and can I sell my own music. I have the answers for you."

When you're trying to execute a clean backdoor Roth IRA, having a completely empty Traditional IRA account feels like a green light. But does the IRS see it that way? Kyle Hoelzle and Chelsea Jones answer a critical question from a Pediatric Endocrinologist: “If I fund and convert an empty IRA, why does my separate rollover IRA balance still matter?” Kyle breaks down the IRS Pro Rata Rule using a simple analogy we can all relate to, coffee and cream. Your pre-tax rollover dollars are the bitter coffee, and your new after-tax contributions are the cream. You might keep them in separate accounts, but the IRS views all your IRAs as one giant mug. When you convert the "cream" from your empty account, the IRS forces you to take a proportional spoonful of the entire mixed mug—triggering an unexpected tax bill on your old rollover balance. Listen in to learn how to spot this trap, use Form 8606 to prevent double taxation, and safely "clean" your accounts for a tax-free backdoor Roth. We also answer your colleagues' questions. Neurosurgeon in Connecticut says, “I have been reading up a little bit more on Trump accounts. Initially, I thought this was only for newborns, but now I understand that it is eligible for children less than 18 years of age, and we can contribute up to $5000 per year, starting July 5 this year. Our older son is turning 18 on July 17. Are we able to open an account for him? I saw some IRS website fine print implying that children are eligible as long as they do not turn 18 in the calendar year of the election, so it's a bit confusing. Do you have any guidance?” Spouse of a Dermapathologist in Pennsylvania asks, “I want to take a withdrawal from my taxable investment account to buy a car, but I only want to sell my bonds to minimize my tax bill, but doing so will liquidate all of my bonds. Is this OK?” A Double Doc Family in Illinois is thinking about starting Social Security for the retired spouse this year on their 66th birthday. The wonder “Does that make sense to do, or should we wait?” Are you ready to turn worries about taxes and investing into a plan for college and retirement? EPISODE DESCRIPTION Are Americans about to get hit with $6 gas and a worldwide recession? Tara and Roger dive into escalating tensions with Iran, growing concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, and reports that oil prices could surge dramatically if current conditions continue. The discussion explores military strategy, secret escort operations in the Persian Gulf, China's role in the conflict, and whether President Trump is playing a much bigger geopolitical game than most Americans realize. PODCAST SUMMARY Today's show focused on the rapidly evolving situation involving Iran, global oil markets, and the potential economic consequences for the United States and its allies. Tara began by discussing comments from retired General Jack Keane, who suggested that Iran continues to stall negotiations while pursuing its own strategic objectives. The hosts questioned whether diplomatic efforts are buying time or simply allowing tensions to escalate further. A major portion of the program examined the Strait of Hormuz and its importance to global energy markets. Tara argued that many Americans misunderstand the current situation, emphasizing that oil remains a global commodity whose price is determined by worldwide supply and demand rather than domestic production alone. The discussion highlighted reports that U.S. military forces have quietly assisted commercial shipping operations through the region while maintaining a lower public profile than previously announced escort missions. Tara questioned why those efforts have received limited attention and suggested that safe passage through the waterway may already exist. The hosts also explored theories regarding Trump's broader strategy, including speculation that disruptions in Middle Eastern supply chains could encourage long-term shifts toward American energy exports. However, Tara warned that such a strategy carries enormous risks, particularly if China and other international actors become more deeply involved in supporting Iran. The episode concluded with concerns about rising oil prices, the possibility of economic fallout if crude reaches $150-$160 per barrel, and the broader implications for consumers, inflation, and global markets. KEY TALKING POINTS General Jack Keane discusses Iran's negotiating strategy. Questions surrounding the effectiveness of current cease-fire efforts. Growing concerns about instability in the Strait of Hormuz. Predictions that oil could rise to $150-$160 per barrel. Potential impact of higher energy prices on consumers. Reports of U.S. military assistance to commercial shipping. Debate over Trump's strategy in the Middle East. The role of China and Russia in supporting Iran. Risks facing global energy markets. Concerns about inflation and economic slowdown. How global oil markets affect prices at American gas pumps. Whether a broader regional conflict can still be avoided. QUOTE OF THE DAY "If oil reaches $150 to $160 a barrel, you're not just talking about higher gas prices. You're talking about the possibility of a worldwide economic shock." Advisors often assume value comes from listing services, but real value is created when clients feel something powerful in their chest. In this episode, Ken explains why elite advisors intentionally design and deliver curated experiences that shape those early emotional impressions. He then introduces Future Shaping, a strategy that helps clients imagine a vivid scene of future success with their advisor. On the surface, it gives clients a chance to articulate exactly what they hope the relationship will deliver. Beneath the surface, it quietly leads them to picture the advisor as part of their future — a psychological shift that accelerates trust and commitment. It's hospital day five. The patient looked better yesterday… but now she's hypotensive, on vasopressors, acidotic, and spiraling toward multi-organ failure. The CT scan doesn't show perforation or megacolon, but your gut tells you this is going south. Do you keep pushing medical therapy… or is it time to operate?Join Drs. Rushabh Dev, Jeffrey Coughenour, Kevin Bartow, Raymond Okeke, and Desra Fletcher from the Emergency General Surgery team in Tiger Country at Mizzou as they tackle one of the deadliest and most challenging diseases acute care surgeons face: fulminant Clostridioides difficile infection. In this Clinical Challenges episode, the panel discusses diagnostic stewardship, ASCRS recommendations, timing of operative intervention and technique, subtotal colectomy versus diverting loop ileostomy with lavage, and physiology that should push surgeons toward definitive source control. Through a real-world high-risk case vignette, the team explores the hardest question in emergency general surgery: when to stop hoping medical therapy will work and pull the operative trigger.Hosts Dr. Rushabh Dev FACS (Moderator, Surgical Attending) – Assistant Professor of Surgery, Associate PD ACS & SCCM Fellowship, SICU Medical Director, Lieutenant Commander United States Navy Reserve Dr. Jeffery Coughenour FACS (Surgical Attending) – Professor of Surgery and Emergency Medicine, Trauma Medical Director at the University of Missouri SOM Dr. Kevin Bartow FACS (Surgical Attending) –Professor of Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgeon and General Surgery. Department of General Surgery at the University of Missouri SOM Raymond Okeke – Acute Care Surgery/Surgical Critical Care Fellow, University of Missouri School of Medicine Desra Fletcher – PGY 3 General Surgery Resident, University of Missouri School of Medicine Learning ObjectivesBy the end of this episode, listeners should be able to: Define the spectrum of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), including non-severe, severe, and fulminant disease, and recognize the physiologic implications of fulminant colitis. Review contemporary diagnostic stewardship for CDI, including appropriate stool testing, pitfalls of PCR/NAAT interpretation, and the role and limitations of CT imaging in fulminant disease. Describe evidence-based medical management of fulminant CDI, including high-dose enteral vancomycin, intravenous metronidazole, rectal vancomycin for ileus, and principles of antimicrobial stewardship. Recognize the high-risk clinical features that should prompt urgent surgical evaluation, including worsening shock, vasopressor dependence, lactate elevation, organ failure, and evolving abdominal exam findings. Discuss the operative indications and timing for surgery in fulminant CDI and understand why delayed intervention contributes to mortality. Compare subtotal colectomy with end ileostomy versus diverting loop ileostomy with antegrade lavage, including current evidence, patient selection, limitations of the literature, and ASCRS recommendations. Review practical operative strategies for subtotal colectomy in unstable patients, including damage-control principles and common technical pitfalls. Apply clinical reasoning to a complex, high-risk case of fulminant CDI in a patient with decompensated cirrhosis, septic shock, and multi-organ dysfunction. Send us Fan MailMost men leave an interaction having done everything right — approached, connected, built rapport for forty-five minutes — and then walked away without ever pulling the trigger. They got the number. They didn't invite. And those are not the same thing. In this episode, Zan and Jordan return to one of the most fundamental and most overlooked principles in the Ars Amorata: the invitation. Not as a technique for scheduling a meeting, but as a spirit — a way of being that tells every woman in your orbit, I would rather have you near me than not. They get into why most men's invitational energy has an invisible ceiling on it: come close, but not too close. The father archetype Zan reaches for when explaining how a man can contain feminine chaos without walling himself off from it. The David Deida debate — whether the male nervous system is inherently stressed by female proximity, or whether that's just a man who hasn't found gratitude yet. And the single sentence that Zan says captures everything: I don't know you at all, but I would love to have you around me.Watch until the end for the practical layer: when to invite, how to invite, and why it doesn't matter at all whether she says yes or no.

This episode dives deep into the relationship between food poisoning, gut motility, microbiome dysfunction, chronic bloating, inflammation, and recurring digestive symptoms. Lindsey explains why many people continue struggling with SIBO despite repeated rounds of treatment and discusses the importance of identifying root causes rather than simply managing symptoms. Josh and Lindsey also explore advanced testing options such as the IBS Smart Test, stool microbiome testing, and breath testing while discussing overlooked contributors including mold exposure, low stomach acid, pancreatic insufficiency, adhesions, hypothyroidism, and immune dysfunction. One of the most fascinating parts of the episode centers around fasting and the ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet. Lindsey shares her experience of seeing autoimmune markers associated with post-infectious IBS normalize after implementing fasting protocols, opening an important discussion about immune regulation and gut healing. 1. Historic Indictment Raúl Castro has been indicted by the U.S. for murder, conspiracy, and destruction of aircraft. Charges relate to the February 24, 1996 incident where Cuban military jets shot down two civilian planes. Four people (including three U.S. citizens) were killed. 2. Allegation of Direct Responsibility Prosecutors claim: The attack was intentional, not accidental. Castro, then Cuba’s Defense Minister, authorized and helped direct the operation. Evidence cited includes: Military communications Intelligence reports Longstanding testimony 3. Delayed Justice The indictment comes nearly 30 years after the incident. It is portrayed as long-awaited accountability for victims’ families. 4. Symbolic and Political Context Announcement took place in Miami’s Freedom Tower, a symbolic site for Cuban exiles. Marks one of the first times a senior Cuban leader is charged in U.S. court. 5. Shift in U.S. Policy Approach There is a change in U.S. posture toward authoritarian regimes: From diplomacy (e.g., Obama-era engagement) To criminal prosecution, sanctions, and pressure 6. Broader Strategic Message The indictment is framed as part of a larger strategy: Indict leaders Cut financial resources Increase international isolation Encourage defections Wait for internal collapse 7. Comparison to Venezuela The approach is compared to actions taken against Nicolás Maduro. Suggests indictments can: Isolate leaders globally Trigger internal fractures within regimes 8. Limited Immediate Practical Impact Castro is 94 years old, and Cuba is unlikely to extradite him. A trial in the U.S. is uncertain. 9. Psychological and Geopolitical Impact The indictment is presented as: A “warning shot” to authoritarian regimes A tool to undermine regime stability internally Intended to send message: Leaders who harm Americans can be pursued indefinitely Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now.
