A weekly podcast where twin sisters, Grace and Olivia, dive into the world of crime. More specifically, crimes against women and women criminals. This podcast covers both fictional and true crimes, while exploring the intersections at play.
This week we discuss the sensational trials of Cyntoia Brown from 2004 - 2019; as well as youth incarceration, the criminalization of sex work, issues within our justice system, and Black and Indigenous resources to support during this Black History Month. Some of our takes on this week's episode are wildly problematic and biased, we know. While we stand always with victims of violent crimes, we also strongly support Cyntoia on her path to freedom, rehabilitation, and finally the amazing advocacy work that she continues today.
This week we discuss Emerald Fennell's debut feature film, Promising Young Woman, and it's cultural commentary on sexual assault. TW: rape, assault, violence against women, alcohol abuse.
Apologies for the late upload!! This week we cover one of our favorite Lady Serial Killers - Nannie Doss. Hear about this Black Widow's 30 year killing spree and the weird things she said after her capture.
This week we’re talking feminist theory, pop culture, and a hotly debated legal concept! Join us as we dive in to discuss Hysteria, the gross misrepresentation of women’s mental health, and the history of undermining women as capable self-agents. Through this conversation we’ll also be unpacking the infamous public breakdown of the Princess of pop, Britney Spears, and the resulting conservatorship and #FreeBritney movement.
