This show is no stranger to the MCU, but it's been a hot minute since the Infinity War & Endgame spoilercasts, and even longer since our last dedicated dive into this pop-culture juggernaut. Making her first appearance on the show, John's comrade in fandom Mia helps us catch up with releases beyond Black Widow, both by reflecting on memories of movies past, adjusting to an MCU without T'Challa, and in particular discussing the recent Shang-Chi and what its attention to cultural detail, great casting, and making up for Ben Kingsley's Mandarin mean to Mia as an Asian-American. Afterward, we take a deep dive into the first three live-action MCU series in the new frontier of Disney+ weekly series. Topics include how these shows take advantage of their longer format, speculating what consequences they may hold for future shows and movies, why Agatha rules and Hayward drools, how timely Falcon and Winter Soldier is, and the as-of-this-writing ongoing desire for an Alligator Loki plushie. On the show today… Scarlett Johansson and Disney have settled a breach of contract lawsuit over the release of Black Widow after Scarlett claimed the studio had sacrificed the film's box office potential in order to grow its streaming service. But what was set to be an explosive, landmark case has now been quietly pushed behind the scenes. And Timothée Chalamet has addressed the sexual assault and ‘cannibal' allegations against his Call Me by Your Name co-star Armie Hammer for the first time. During a recent interview with Time, Timothée was asked point-blank about the allegations and he responded in a very pre-prepared way. Plus, this week the world can't stop talking about Victoria Beckham And Tom Cruise's faces. Both stars have been ripped apart by ‘experts', media outlets, and fans for their changing looks. But when it comes to growing old gracefully in Hollywood, there's only one path to go down. LINKS To check out some delicious Baileys recipes or to buy yourself a bottle click here! This episode is brought to you by 7or9 heels — an innovative brand that's dedicated to making more comfortable high heels for women. Our podcast was invited to participate in their brand campaign with the theme “from pain to joy.” In this episode, we discuss the feminist awakening of female protagonists — specifically Harley Quinn and Black Widow. In the context of Hollywood's movie-making industrial complex, paired with the awakening of the female consciousness, these two have evolved and became beloved characters that suit the female audience's requirements. From the design of their storylines to their motives, to the clothes they wear when fighting — everything reflects the current gender dynamics, and we dive right into this discourse. Listen till the end for an Easter egg about our hosts' fashion ideals. Welcome back everyone! Our 4th Annual Harvest Horror Fest kicks into high gear this week with the haunted house ghost movie classic Thir13en Ghosts starring Tony Shalhoub, Shannon Elizabeth, and Matthew Lillard. Off topics include the McRib returns, Paramount Pictures giveaway, and the Black Widow lawsuit. Seriously, this movie is 20 years old? I remember watching this one in the theaters during college, man we are old! Thir13en Ghosts is a fun, dark, and gory haunted house flick with tons of awesome ghosts! The acting definitely leaves a lot to be desired, especially the side characters. This is still a great film that is holding up well and makes a perfect fit for our horror fest. The makeup is incredible and so is the creepy glass house in the woods. Thir13en Ghosts is not for everyone but Mike and Matt agree it is worth a watch even if you have seen it before. Matt with the shocking higher rating gives Thir13en Ghosts 4 out of 5 Reels. Mike with a full reel lower awards it 3 out of 5 Reels. Next week the horror continues but this time in the theaters with the sequel to a sequel? Ya I think that's right, Halloween Kills starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle. Thank you for your continued support of our podcast and we will chat at you next week. If you have a film you would like Matt and Mike to review, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org You can find us on all things social such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Why not join our Facebook Fan Group so you can yell at Mike and Matt from the comfort of your keyboard while talking about films. #123. In this episode we begin with one of our favorite things! We read comments from some of our listeners. And we would love to read more! If you're so inclined, visit the Linktree below to see the various places you can reach us. Specifically, we are asking our international friends and those who travel, what foods have you experienced in other countries which are marketed as American, but maybe miss the mark? Or what obviously Americanized food have you encountered? What American food is impossible to find elsewhere? We touch on that topic this week. We also share updates about what we've been watching, including Black Widow. There's some more fur baby talk and other 'real' parenting discussion. Finally, Dillon shakes things up (not stirs) with a James Bond trivia game for Kendall and Kory in light of the new film No Time to Die. Also, is it time for a female Bond film? We share our thoughts. Overall, this one is heavily geared toward the world of entertainment. Enjoy!Main Landing Page - https://linktr.ee/fromthemidpod
In the newest James Bond movie, "No Time to Die", the main villain in the film, Safin, has scars covering his face. This has been the case for many past Bond villains. But the trope isn't just limited to the Bond films. In Disney's "Black Widow," the main villain is revealed to have facial scarring covering her face. The same is true of the villain in "Wonder Woman," and even "The Lion King".People with facial differences are speaking up about the harmful impact of being vilified on screen.Changing Faces is an organization in the U.K. pushing the film industry to change the way it represents facial differences on-screen through the campaign "I Am Not Your Villain."Why does the trope persist? And what does it mean for people with facial differences?Want to support 1A? Give to your local public radio station and subscribe to this podcast. Have questions? Find us on Twitter @1A.

It's been a long time since I last released anything but dammit, it feels great to be back. This episode, I'll be discussing all the "summer" movies I had the great pleasure of seeing this past year and what I'm looking forward to. Due to the length of this discussion, my previously planned back half of the episode got pushed and will be released next week as a bonus episode...or part two? That said, I'll just go ahead and consider this the season two premiere as I gear up for (hopefully) more episodes to be released in the future. Movies I'll be discussing in this episode include Shang-Chi, Black Widow, The Conjuring, Malignant, The Night House, Candy Man, In the Heights, Godzilla vs Kong and Mortal Kombat. The Watcher breaks his oath to not interfere with the multiverse. With the help of Supreme Strange, the Watcher assembles a team to save the multiverse from destruction by Ultron. In his infinite wisdom, the Watcher chooses Captain Peggy Carter, Star-Lord T'Challa, Killmonger, Gamora, and Thor. Natasha Romanoff also joins them in the fight against Ultron. The team is eventually able to separate the Infinity Stones from Ultron's body, but Gamora's Infinity Crusher fails to defeat the android. But Black Widow and Captain Carter save the day by uploading Armin Zola's programming into Ultron's body. Zola destroys Ultron, but takes over his armor and the Infinity Stones. Killmonger attempts to steal the armor and stones for himself, but Strange sacrifices his life to hold Zola and Killmonger at bay in a pocket dimension. The Watcher then returns the team to each of their universes and timelines, with Natasha joining a universe in which Black Widow had died. In the mid-credits scene, Black Widow reveals to Captain Carter that Steve Rogers has been found alive inside the long-lost HYDRA Stomper. Marvel's What If? Finale Episode 9 Synopsis Executive Produced by: Bryan Andrews, A.C. Bradley, Brad Winderbaum with Kevin Feige Head Writer: A.C. Bradley Episode Written By: A.C. Bradley Episode Directed By: Bryan Andrews One selected group of Guardians can save the multiverse! From across the multiverse The Watcher selects his team. Captain Carter who would sacrifice herself for the mission, will create the opportunity. T'Challa Starlord, considering every option, will provide the skill for an advantage. The Supreme Doctor Strange will provide the protection to get the job done. Ever trusting Partyboy Thor will provide distraction to achieve their goals. Eric Stephens AKA Killmonger will analyse the situation for the best advantage to himself. And Gamora, fresh from an unseen victory over Thanos, will provide the experience to defeat another infinity stone wielder, the all-powerful Ultron. Assembled, the new Guardians of Multiverse get Ultron's attention, their battle against the powerful cosmic being plays out across worlds, with magic, molnar, and zombies, they manage to get their sticky fingers on the soul stone. As the Watcher brings them through to the only universe where Ultron can be defeated, Gamora's infinity stone crusher doesn't work. As Ultron fights back and the Black Widow enters the fight, Natashia and Peggy work together to deploy the analogue technology in tribute to Hawkeye. Arnim Zola begins his work on Ultron, defeating his host and claiming the infinity stones. But Killmonger also makes claims on them and the two battle for their power. This was all in the plan for The Watcher and Strange Supreme pulls Zola and Killmonger into his prison to contain them for eternity, extinguishing the multiversal threat. The Guardians return to their universes but Natasha refuses to go back to a dead planet. The Watcher opens a new door for Natashia to start a new life as she joins a universe where their Black Widow has already been lost. Back on the Lumarian Star, Captain Carter returns to her mission where a long lost surprise is waiting for her. Marvel's What If?
