More slop but hey it's detailed. That's nice. 00:25 – Hanukkah, Bondi and a terror attackJoel (Jack the Insider) opens the Christmas‑eve episode by recounting the Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach that turned into a mass‑shooting, with 16 dead including Holocaust survivor Alex Kleitman and 10‑year‑old Matilda. He notes that one gunman, Sajid Akram, was killed and his son Naveed faces 59 charges including 15 murders and a terrorism offence, while funerals proceed under a cloud of grief.02:05 – Anti‑Semitic threats and the rise of Jew hatredThe Jacks detail an anti‑Semitic threat on a Virgin Australia flight from Denpasar to Sydney, where a 19‑year‑old allegedly made violent gestures and threats toward a Jewish passenger. They discuss how contemporary anti‑Semitism in Australia and the West feels broader and deeper than before, increasingly visible on progressive and left‑wing fringes as well as the far right.04:55 – Jenny Leong's “tentacles” remark and Greens politicsJoel quotes NSW Greens MLC Jenny Leong's 2023 comments about the “Jewish lobby” and “Zionist lobby” having “tentacles” infiltrating community groups, likening the rhetoric to classic Nazi tropes in Der Stürmer.Jack notes Leong is part of NSW's hard‑left “watermelon” Greens and argues such language shows how anti‑Jewish narratives have crept into mainstream progressive politics in Australia, the UK and the US.07:25 – Apologies, anti‑Zionism and the limits of definitionsThey note Leong apologised two months later for “poor choice of words” with anti‑Semitic implications, but Joel says the tentacle imagery hung “like a bad smell” over public debate. The Jacks criticise semantic wrangling over definitions of anti‑Semitism and suggest calling much of it what it plainly is: old‑fashioned Jew hatred, often masked as anti‑Zionism.10:25 – Who failed after 7 October? Government responses under fireJack argues federal and state leaders failed from “October 8th on” by not responding strongly enough to anti‑Jewish rhetoric and protests, suggesting Labor tried to balance Jewish concerns against Western Sydney Muslim votes.Joel pushes back, citing Sean Carney's column outlining how Naveed Akram's jihadist associations, ASIO assessments and gun‑licence decisions date back to the Morrison/Dutton era and pre‑Albanese security failures.13:55 – ASIO, gun licensing and unanswered questionsThe Jacks highlight ASIO's prior knowledge of Naveed's extremist links and question how Sajid Akram obtained a semi‑automatic shotgun with only an AB licence when B/C categories are needed for that weapon. They call for frank explanations from ASIO and NSW firearms licensing about assessments, paper trails and whether bureaucratic or resourcing failures allowed Akram to amass an arsenal worth around $30,000.17:55 – Under‑resourced counter‑terror units and a fearful Jewish communityJoel cites a retired AFP counter‑terror investigator who says counter‑terror units are stacked with officers fresh out of the academy instead of seasoned detectives.Jack reflects on three decades of Jewish institutions in Sydney's east needing armed guards, and shares conversations with Jewish friends who now quietly contemplate leaving Australia because they no longer feel safe.20:35 – “Don't bring your old hatreds here”The Jacks trace anti‑Jewish attacks in Sydney back to the 1982 Hakoah Club car bombing and the simultaneous attack on the Israeli consulate, arguing Jewish Australians have lived with this threat for over 40 years. They say successive governments failed to hammer home a core Australian expectation: migrants must not import centuries‑old religious or ethnic hatreds into their new home.23:05 – Segal anti‑Semitism strategy and hate‑speech lawsThey briefly canvass the Gillian Segal anti‑Semitism strategy; Jack dismisses it as “word salad” and window dressing, while Joel notes the government has been slow to act on its recommendations. On hate‑speech laws, Jack argues bans on offensive political opinions tend to drive hatred underground and make it more dangerous, but both agree incitement to violence must remain a prosecutable offence, possibly with updated legislation.26:00 – Policing protests and the limits of crowd controlThe Jacks explain why police sometimes tolerate ugly slogans at protests: wading in for arrests can inflame crowds that already vastly outnumber officers. They stress the need to balance immediate public safety and officer safety with the longer‑term risk that demonstrators feel they can incite hatred with impunity.29:00 – Bondi's stain and its heroesJoel laments that Bondi Beach, an iconic Australian destination, will now always be associated with a massacre, describing a moment of nausea as the death toll climbed on that Sunday night.Jack reminisces about Bondi's 1990s mix of Kiwis, working‑class locals and a relaxed Jewish presence, and fears that openness has been permanently damaged.32:05 – Old‑school cop and a Syrian‑Australian heroThey praise the middle‑aged, tie‑wearing NSW officer who initiated the “beginning of the end” of the attack and commend off‑duty police who rushed to Bondi and threw on uniforms.Joel celebrates North Bondi tobacconist Al Ahmad, a Syrian‑born resident who tackled the gunman with astonishing courage, noting he now seems certain to receive Australian citizenship along with his parents.35:10 – Patrol strength, long guns and local station realitiesThe Jacks relay reports that only three officers were on duty at Bondi police station, which Joel describes as a relatively minor station compared to Rose Bay or Maroubra. They question why frontline police responding to long‑gun threats were not issued rifles of their own and suggest NSW should review access to long arms for first responders in high‑risk scenarios.38:00 – Multiculturalism, old enmities and what really matters nextJack argues that, in an immigrant nation, the most important response is cultural: reinstilling the norm that old tribal feuds must be left behind, not accommodated.Joel agrees this message should be central in citizenship education and public rhetoric, more important than technocratic hate‑speech tweaks or reactive gun‑law posturing.42:05 – National Cabinet, ASIO and the demand for competenceThey criticise the National Cabinet's muted post‑Bondi meeting, which produced little beyond talk, and suggest the Prime Minister's cautious style leaves a leadership vacuum in national crises. The Jacks insist Australians accept that security agencies cannot be omniscient, but say they must be properly resourced, competent and transparent when they make mistakes.45:25 – Around the world: headscarves, condoms, climate and Reddit vs CanberraThe Jacks whip around global headlines: Austria's ban on headscarves for under‑14s, China's 13% tax on condoms and contraceptives to boost fertility, Denmark listing the US as a security risk, and the US government quietly deleting “fossil fuels” as a named cause of climate change from official websites. They note Reddit's legal challenge to Australia's under‑16 social media ban and question whether Reddit is the ideal platform to front that fight given its often unpoliced content.47:35 – Venezuela, the ICC and the limits of international lawVenezuela moves to withdraw from the International Criminal Court as investigations into alleged Maduro‑regime crimes against humanity advance.Jack says the episode encapsulates international law's limits: states happily sign the Rome Statute until it becomes inconvenient, then walk away.48:55 – Ireland rearms and Russia blocks “unfriendly” callsIreland announces a 55 per cent jump in defence spending to protect undersea data cables and deter drones, reflecting its geostrategic importance as a trans‑Atlantic communications hub.Russia, meanwhile, moves to block incoming calls from “unfriendly” states; the Jacks mock the performative toughness and note how easily scammers will route around any such ban.51:15 – Rob Reiner's murder and a towering film legacyThey react with shock to the murder of legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife, allegedly by Reiner's troubled son, whose earlier violence was itself the subject of a film.Jack runs through Reiner's extraordinary run—This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men—and argues that if you'd made only those, you'd still have had a remarkable career.54:45 – “This one goes to 11” and Trump's gracelessnessThe Jacks recall how Spinal Tap helped invent the mockumentary form and embedded lines like “this one goes to 11” into pop‑culture vocabulary. They condemn Donald Trump's statement calling Reiner “a terrible human being” after his death, with conservative actor James Woods publicly rebuking Trump and praising Reiner's personal kindness despite political differences.57:40 – Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks and comedy royaltyJoel outlines Rob Reiner's upbringing in a house full of comedic giants, with father Carl Reiner and close friend Mel Brooks holding weekly movie nights together well into old age, as captured in Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. They reminisce about Carl and Mel's influence on Jewish humour and lament the passing of a generation of comic geniuses.01:01:05 – EVs, hybrids and a Two Jacks lunch betThe Jacks revisit their running argument over electric vehicles, prompted by Ford CEO Jim Farley's plan to pivot the F‑150 towards hybrids instead of pure EVs.Joel, a hybrid owner, sees hybrids as a transition technology in countries like Australia where fast‑charge infrastructure is patchy; he cites global EV sales rising to roughly 18–20 per cent of new car sales in 2025, with internal‑combustion shares steadily shrinking.01:03:05 – Charging reality vs theory in AustraliaJoel recounts his in‑laws' BMW EV trip from central Victoria to Sydney using free or cheap NRMA/RACV chargers, but notes fast chargers are often the first to break or get switched off by retailers facing high electricity costs. They swap anecdotes about BYD and Chinese Maxus taxis—fast‑improving but sometimes uncomfortable—and admit they can no longer remember the exact terms of their EV lunch wager, though Joel insists Jack owes him.01:06:10 – Worst political year: Trump, Macron, Starmer, Albanese, Li, PutinThe Jacks playfully debate which leader had the worst year—Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Anthony Albanese, Chinese Premier Li or Vladimir Putin. They characterise Albanese as the “Stephen Bradbury” of Australian politics, a cautious survivor whose luck and endurance have mattered as much as brilliance.01:18:40 – Ashes update: England's fragile top orderIn a late segment, they revisit England's Ashes woes: repeated collapses leaving them three‑for‑not‑many and a top three of Crawley, Duckett and Pope exposing the middle order to the new ball.Joel notes England dropped a bowler as a scapegoat while leaving the misfiring batting unchanged, and questions how long they can justify Ollie Pope at three ahead of the more solid Will Jacks.01:21:15 – Hong Kong racing, Kooring Rising and Japanese fanboy jockeysJack describes Hong Kong's International Racing Day—four Group 1s and 80,000 people—and the rise of sprinter Kooring Rising, winner of The Everest and now on a long winning streak. He shares footage from Japan's Nakayama track where every jockey stopped circling and sat still so they could watch Kooring Rising's race on the big screen, a measure of the horse's star power.01:23:00 – Listener mail, Howard's gun laws and the Shooters lobbyJoel reads a note from listener Ray pointing out that 300 legally obtained guns are still attributed to “Howard's gun laws”, reminding listeners gun‑law reform was necessary but later watered down under pressure from the Shooters and Fishers political lobby.01:24:00 – Christmas, loneliness and a surprise lunch guestThe Jacks close with Christmas reflections: acknowledging how joyful and stressful the season can be, especially for those who are lonely or estranged from family.Joel recalls his mother inviting a homeless man to Christmas lunch—an act of charity met with teenage grumbling from him and his brother—and urges listeners to look out for those doing it tough without necessarily going to that extreme.01:25:45 – Holiday plans and the show's return in JanuaryJack outlines Hanukkah parties and family Christmas plans in Hong Kong, while Joel describes a quieter Highlands Christmas with a Boxing Day visit from the grandkids. They thank listeners for their support through 2025, wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and promise to return in the second week of January after a short break.00:25 – Hanukkah, Bondi and a terror attackJoel (Jack the Insider) opens the Christmas‑eve episode by recounting the Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach that turned into a mass‑shooting, with 16 dead including Holocaust survivor Alex Kleitman and 10‑year‑old Matilda. Apologies for my voice and the lack of graphics. Been sick again and barely got this out today.Episode 179 examines the founding, construction, abandonment, and rediscovery of Dur-Sharrukin (Khorsabad), the short-lived royal capital built by Sargon II of Assyria in the late eighth century BCE. The narrative begins with the history of early Mesopotamian excavation through the career of Paul-Émile Botta, whose 1843–1844 work near Mosul and Khorsabad helped inaugurate Assyriology and introduced Europe to monumental Assyrian palace architecture, relief sculpture, and royal inscriptions. The episode follows Botta's unusual path into Near Eastern exploration, placing his expeditionary background within wider nineteenth-century networks of travel, collecting, and emerging archaeological method, and contrasts the French discoveries at Khorsabad with the subsequent British excavations associated with Austen Henry Layard at Kalhu and Nineveh. From this modern historiographical prelude, the episode turns back to 717 BCE and reconstructs Dur-Sharrukin as an ideological and administrative project of empire. It discusses the city's location, scale, labor regime, deportee settlement, and the programmatic symbolism of a purpose-built capital dedicated to the “true king.” Particular attention is given to the citadel complex—palace, temples, and ziggurat—alongside the logistical systems required to sustain rapid construction, long-distance procurement of materials, and the production of large-scale court art such as lamassu guardians and carved orthostats. The episode also engages changing archaeological interpretations of the site, including how later excavations and recent geophysical survey have revised older claims that the city was never fully completed or inhabited by demonstrating a substantial lower town and more complex occupational history. The final section addresses the political and religious implications of Sargon II's death in 705 BCE and the resulting abandonment of the city under Sennacherib, framing Dur-Sharrukin as a case study in the relationship between royal charisma, omen interpretation, and the volatility of capital cities in the Neo-Assyrian world. In doing so, the episode situates Dur-Sharrukin within broader Near Eastern patterns of state power, forced migration, monumental construction, and the archaeological afterlives of imperial projects.I am also doing daily history facts again, at least until I run out of time again. For the Glory KC is back with the 157th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City and the KC Current didn't have a ton going on this week, so instead we did a mailbag episode of the podcast. Apologies to those who asked questions we didn't get to, weren't equipped to answer or who we took so long to answer news has come out on your questions. For a decent junk of the mailbag, we played a game from listener Spencer. He asked us to go back to the end of 2024 and revisit our roster decisions. Knowing what we know now, would we change our mind on players or even regarding Peter Vermes. There was a surprising amount of disagreement! We also took questions about the active coaching search underway by David Lee, if we should have a For the Glory KC watch party, what the new stadium sponsor should be for Sporting KC, along with some KC Current (and NWSL wages) and World Cup questions. In the SKC roundup we talked about the Stefan Cleveland trade, the lack of signings this week, the new Saint Luke's sponsorship and the announced preseason dates and schedule. For the KC Current's roundup, we covered their trade and the re-signing of Rocky Rodriguez. In the Digital Crawl, we hit on a few more topics, including:New NWSL rule proposals (aka the Trinity Rodman rule)MLS Cup final ratingsVancouver Whitecaps stadium progressand KS Astras and KC Comets results and scheduleHere is a rundown of topics and start times:MAILBAG - 07:04SKC Roundup - 54:29KC Current Roundup - 1:03:20Digital Crawl - 1:05:15As a special gift to For the Glory KC listeners and KC Soccer Journal readers, Backheeled dot com is giving away 30 days of their amazing, independent American soccer coverage for free. Quick note all: This episode is approx 29 minutes long… I've accidentally left some background music or something muted at the end + will delete that and re-upload once home again… Sorry all, there is no secret Easter egg at the end of this episode, it's ok to hit stop when the end credits roll…  This week On Tales we return to the Australian outback - this is the last time we visit my neighbours to the west of Aotearoa/New Zealand for a while, I promise. The year is 1866, the location Wagga Wagga.  Tom Castro, the town's Chilean-born butcher has a good life, living in ‘Castro villa' with his young wife and step-daughter. He enjoys his work, horse riding and his larrikin mates down at the local pub… But then one of those larrikins turns his life upside down with a newspaper article.  Was Tom secretly Baronet Roger Tichbourne, a British peer who disappeared in mysterious circumstances off the coast of Brazil a dozen years earlier? This is part one of a two parter. Apologies ahead of time, I'll more likely than not have to pause part two till late December/early January to allow for a Christmas episode.   Content warnings: Not too much on this one. Some animal cruelty, and appearance being central to this tale, I have to comment on the protagonist's appearance in ways not intended to offend… but I may slip up on this one        Sources Include: Robyn Annear's The Man Who Lost Himself| Rohan McWilliam's The Tichborne Claimant Support Tales on Patreon for $2 US a month and get access to exclusive content, or Try our 7 Day Free Trial.  Please leave Tales a like and a review wherever you listen. Healing the relationships we damaged during addiction is one of the hardest — and most important — parts of sobriety. In this episode, we break down what it really looks like to repair trust, make meaningful apologies, set healthy boundaries, and accept that not every relationship is meant to come with us into this new chapter. You'll learn how to apologize without losing yourself, why some people still won't trust the “new you” right away, how to protect your growth without becoming controlling, and how to let go of relationships that can't grow with you. If you've ever wondered, “How do I fix what I broke?” or “Why do my relationships feel so different now that I'm sober?” — this episode gives you the clarity and direction you've been looking for.

In this expansive episode of Selective Ignorance, Mandii B sits down with super producer A-King, journalist Jayson Rodriguez, and Jason “Jah” Lee for a deep, multilayered conversation that bridges culture, technology, ethics, and identity. The episode opens with Mandii’s intro and book promo [00:00] before the crew dives into the evolving intersection of sci-fi and reality [00:54], exploring how futuristic concepts—from AI to virtual identity—are rapidly becoming part of everyday life. They quickly shift into the impact of celebrity controversies and the algorithm-driven world of social media [02:17], highlighting how online behavior distorts public perception. This leads to a candid exploration of ignorance in social interactions [03:49], examining the blurred lines between intention, offense, and personal accountability. The discussion broadens into cultural biases and stereotypes [21:25], unpacking how upbringing, environment, and media shape the ways people interpret the world. That conversation sets the stage for a rich breakdown of Apple TV’s Pluribus[31:45], where the group examines its philosophical themes, including collective identity [34:44], the pursuit of happiness [37:39], and the role of suffering in defining human experience [40:11]. As the hosts navigate cultural perspectives and language barriers [42:28], they reflect on autonomy, free will, and the human experience [45:18], tying these concepts to larger societal structures like capitalism versus socialism [48:09]. This flows into a discussion on the ripple effects of individual actions [51:34], especially in relation to convenience, overconsumption, fast fashion, and how happiness often comes with hidden ethical costs [54:38]. The complexity of choice becomes a major theme, as the group unpacks the illusion of choice and the manufactured nature of happiness [01:00:02], eventually highlighting why genuine choice remains essential to humanity [01:02:44]. Race, identity, and internal community dynamics surface next, with an honest conversation about colorism and its impact within the Black community [01:11:55]. From there, the hosts turn to tipping culture and stereotypes [01:17:06], exposing how social expectations shape perceptions of class, service, and respect. That leads to a humorous yet pointed discussion on punctuality [01:23:45], exploring the deeper cultural meanings behind being late—or being on time. The episode wraps with a reflection on accountability and growth in public discourse [01:28:59], and finally, the complexities of family dynamics, misinformation, and how beliefs evolve over generations [01:37:11]. “No Holes Barred: A Dual Manifesto Of Sexual Exploration And Power” w/ Tempest X!Sale Link Follow the host on Social MediaMandii B Instagram/X @fullcourtpumps Follow the guests on Social Media@mrhiphopobama Follow the show on Social MediaInstagram @selectiveignorancepodTiktok @selective.ignoranceX/Twitter @selectiveig_podSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

**Apologies for the low sound levels (you may have to turn your volume all the way up to listen!)--------It's your lucky week ;) I had so much to say, I went for nearly an hour.If you've ever had a $5k, $8k, or even $10k month... followed by $500 or crickets the next month, this is for you.The difference between the coaches scrambling for clients and the ones making 6-figures, isn't how qualified they are… In this episode, I'm talking about:

Double Threat with Julie Klausner & Tom Scharpling

This week Tom and Julie get in the holiday spirit by recounting the story of a Christmas Carol whilst adding their own additions, and reflecting on what a year 2025 has been! Plus they watched clips of Woody Allen failing to blow out his 90th birthday candle, the return of NJ town hall dancing man, and Julie reveals the truth about her marriage to Mickey Rooney.Apologies for the occasional mic crackle! Will have that fixed for next time.ATTENTION DT PATRONS: Due to the Holidays, our December livestream has been moved up to this Wednesday 12/10 at 7pm ET (4pm PT) - only at https://patreon.com/doublethreatpodCLIPS FROM THIS WEEK'S EPISODE:-Woody Allen blows out his 90th birthday candlehttps://www.instagram.com/reel/DRufRgjDJQi/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==-Cranford, NJ town hall dancing man is at it againhttps://www.instagram.com/p/DRyLHZyEQ7d/Our brand new Double Threat merch is AVAILABLE NOW at https://doublethreatpod.merchtable.com - Join the Patreon to receive an exclusive discount code at https://patreon.com/doublethreatpodPatreon is the best way to support Double Threat! The 3 Types of ‘I'm Sorry': Teaching Kids (and Ourselves) Real Apologies

In this GoodKind Podcast episode, Clayton, Amy, and Chris dive into the confusing world of apologies — especially how kids (and adults) use the words “I'm sorry” to mean very different things. What starts as a lighthearted moment with an accidental speaking-over-one-another jab, quickly moves into a surprisingly rich discussion about forgiveness, empathy, conflict, and how families can model healthy emotional habits. The team identifies three distinct categories of apology:Forgiveness Apologies — “I did something wrong. Will you forgive me?”Empathy Apologies — “I'm sorry that happened to you.”Excuse-Me Apologies — small, accidental, social-grace moments that don't require forgiveness. They explore why kids mix these up, why parents often do too, and how to narrate the difference for your family. They also get honest about patterns in marriage (“Do I need forgiveness or is this a small misstep?”), sibling conflict without true repentance, and how to respond when someone apologizes in a different category than you expect. If you've ever wondered why your child apologizes for bumping into a cabinet… or why you bristle when your spouse says “I forgive you” for something you didn't think was a big deal… this episode will give you a simple, practical framework for navigating daily conflict with more clarity, grace, and emotional honesty.TakeawaysYou learn that there are three kinds of “sorry”—forgiveness, empathy, and “excuse me”—and naming the difference brings clarity to family conversations.Kids often confuse empathy with apology, and simple, clear language helps them separate the two.Real repair happens when someone can say, “Will you forgive me?” and take ownership for actual harm. Not everything needs forgiveness; some moments only need a brief acknowledgment of a small mistake.Conflict gets easier when you recognize which apology category you're in—and when someone else is in a different one.Empathy becomes a tool for deciding what kind of repair a situation really needs.Modeling healthy, honest apologies as parents helps shape the emotional habits of the whole home.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Apologies and Forgiveness02:32 Understanding Different Types of Apologies05:15 The Complexity of Apologies in Parenting07:43 Navigating Apologies with Children10:50 The Role of Empathy in Apologies13:31 Clarifying Misunderstandings in Apologies16:22 Teaching Children About Apologies19:19 Conclusion and Key Takeawaysapology types, family communication, Christian parenting, teaching kids forgiveness, sibling conflict resolution, emotional literacy for kids, Christian family habits, how to apologize well, empathy vs forgiveness

They would've had a field day with Dr. Ruth, because she was to-the-point.)Sadly, the quiz is a bit of a disaster.Oh well.We won't do this again.(Apologies. We thought it would be funny.)ICE Nativity SceneOh, the hilarity that ensues when an actual Christian uses the Bible to make a point about modern day Christianity…A Church in Massachusetts removed Jesus, the Mother Mary, and Joseph from their Nativity Scene, replacing them with a sign that read, “ICE WAS HERE.”Because, you know, they were immigrants. Naturally, people who profess to love Jesus, seem to hate his teachings.(A side discussion involves UFOs, and aliens.)Odell Beckham Jr.Odell is an idiot. Maybe not to the level of Antonio Brown, because… Well, who COULD be as stupid as him?But he said it's hard to make $100 million last a lifetime. He also admitted to spending an obscene amount of money on stupid stuff—dumb cars, jewelry—only he didn't phrase it like I just did.Anyway, STFU, a-hole. I could make $5 million last a lifetime. Maybe even $1 million. The EconomyWhat? Trump's tariffs have been bad for the economy and workforce? In our reaction to Sister Wives Season 20 Episode 10, we take a close look at Kody's sudden desire to “apologize” to his ex-wives — and why it doesn't feel like the sincere accountability he thinks it is. Instead of owning the hurt he caused, Kody seems more interested in apologizing on his terms, in his timing, and in a way that centers his comfort rather than the women he hurt. We also touch on Janelle's background and how she came to join Mormon fundamentalism, but only as context for how deeply these relationships were rooted for her .

2/8 Witnessing the First Red Guard Murder and the Contested Apologies — Tanya Branigan — This segment examines the 1966 murder of educator Bian Zhongyun by teenage Red Guards at a prestigious girls' secondary school. Her husband, Wang Jingyao, clandestinely preserved physical evidence including bloodstained clothing and photographic documentation of her body, ensuring the atrocity would not be forgotten and pursuing potential justice. Branigan argues that memory itself constitutes an act of historical creation and resistance. Apologies offered by former Red Guards like Song Binbin remain deeply controversial, with critics contending that such statements fail to comprehensively reckon with individual responsibility for targeting and murdering innocent victims. 1966 RED GUARDS
