Effort is 100% controlled by you as the athlete. You have to make the decision on whether or not you are going to be the athlete that is going to go hard at everything they do. Or if you are going to be the athlete that depends solely on their talent. Make the choice.
When you are in the trenches you have to be a little bit different than everyone else. You have to be a little bit messed up. You have to be nasty and you have to make light of the fact you're about to be in a battle all day long with someone on the other side of the field. Developing this mindset comes from surrounding yourself with good teammates and coaches that understand what it is all about and bring that side out of you.
You better buy in as an athlete or you're going to quickly find yourself sitting on the sideline wondering why you're not starting. Or even worse sitting at home wondering why you got cut. Buy into the schemes and be adaptable in order for your team to fully succeed.
