What is an STD? What are STIs? What's the difference? Probably one of the first questions Jenelle is asked anytime she speaks about STDs. It's a great question and probably a question your teenager has probably asked you before. What do you think of when you think of your child having an STD? Fear? Shame? Distress? What might your reaction to your child be if they were diagnosed with an STD? These questions, along with many others, are addressed in this episode of Birds and Bees Podcast with Jenelle Marie Pierce. Today she is speaking with Braxton about what teens don't usually know about STD/STIs. She covers what misconceptions are commonly taught, what they need to know and what you need to know as a parent. "I don't need to have this talk with my child because we teach to wait for sex until marriage." I love that you're having these conversations with your child. However, even if we are teaching abstinence until marriage there are other ways to contract STIs. With how much of a world wide issue this is, it is important that our teens understand STDs. Braxton and Jenelle explore how to address STD conversations with your children, continuing curiosity with your teen after a diagnosis of STI, and Resources spoken about in the show.
