There are 907,065 establishments of Small Medium Enterprises or SME in Malaysia. SME make-up of 97% of business establishments in Malaysia. SME contributes 36.6% of Malaysia's GDP in 2016. 50% or 3.7 million workers work in SME. A study by United States Small Business Administration indicate almost 50% of SME fail in their first year itself. 95% tend to fail by their fifth year. SME with fewer than 20 employees have only 37% chance of surviving for four years and a 9% chance of surviving for 10 years. Beginning 11 December 2019, we will look into issues, tips and insight on what SME should do to avoid this pitfall based on my 13 years of experience dealing with SME from business setup, marketing, human resource, finance and accounting plus external issues that SME need to look at to become one those statistic.
