We're back! After a bit of a hiatus, we're back on track to bring you new shows & continue on with our Design for a Disaster series. In this episode, we pick up where we left off discussing water storage for you, your family & your garden. This topic is especially relevant now as much of the US is in drought conditions right now.
In this episode, we'll discuss some basic tips on starting your own garden, no matter WHERE you live, as a hedge against inflation, food storage or for a healthier lifestyle! (And anyone who's ever eaten tomatoes grown in THEIR garden can attest to that!). Tips on difficulty, a little history & some basic plants to get you started.
In this installment of my series, Design for a Disaster, I'll offer up some tips & advice on how to design your space w/SAFETY in mind...whether you have time to prepare or not, implementing even 1 of these tips can help keep you & your loved ones safe.
This segment will deal with the REALITY of buying a home...What is really important? Granite countertops or a new roof? Carpet vs hardwood floors? New furnace or nice landscaping? As someone's who's bought & sold many houses, plus being a designer as to what REALLY adds value to a home, this episode will help you make your list of what's really important to the VALUE of the home in determining what the price is to offer/sell & how it meshes with what's of VALUE to you as a buyer.
With the popularity of Doomsday Preppers on NGTV & the rise in the Prepper Movement, I'd like to discuss how you can implement DESIGN into your preparation & security plans so you don't look like a hoarder or something out of the Mad Max movies, & are prepared whether it's a natural disaster, economic or terrorist threat. In this first segment of my Design for a Disaster series, I will focus on basic security of your home. Tips will include some landscaping tips, lighting & escape plan for you & your loved one. (These episodes are meant as a GENERAL guide to get you started & NOT as a complete survival course. My goal in presenting this info is to get you AWARE of what can happen, & if the worst does occur (tornado, flood, blizard, hurricane, disruption in food/electric grid...), you won't be part of the un-prepared & can ensure the safety of you & your family).
