I was recently invited to the BBC Radio Derby studios to join them for Top Floor, a new evening radio show aimed at the younger generation. We spoke for ten minutes or so about the latest and greatest from the world of technology, covering just how far technology has come and where it's going. We had some interesting insights as to the power of technology when we combine it with our voice.

At least once a week I get asked the same question. How do I start my own business? I find myself giving the same advice every single time, experience in the field before you begin your own journey can be the difference between falling and flying. Before I launched Spark Agency, I had previously worked for another digital agency in Derby for somewhere between 6 and 9 months. I literally stalked the boss. I looked at how we attracted new clients, how we keep existing clients happy, how we invoiced and provided value that was beyond the invoice value. In this case, the question came from an aspiring restaurant owner. My advice to him is to do what I did. Work in a restaurant that you would consider to be similar to what you'd like to own. Speak to everyone from the cleaner to the head chef, discuss their challenges and learn as much as you can from them. It could make all the difference when the time comes to starting out on your own.

Take 60 seconds out of your day to learn a killer digital marketing strategy that will help you market your business if you operate in an industry that is littered with bad reputation and publicity. Think car dealership or estate agents, industries you won't have to look far into to find horror stories from customers who've been completely robbed and swear blind they'll never deal with car dealerships or estate agents again.
