The Clause are a four-piece from Birmingham who bring together the swagger of the 60s, the rolling groove of the 80s and the riotous verve and attitude of the 90s.  Pearce Macca (front man), Niall Fennell (drummer) Jonny Fyffe (bassist) and Liam Deakin (guitarist) effortlessly combine huge hooks with gritty verses, indie sensibilities and rhythm and blues groove and melodies to create an altogether different beast. The music defies categorisation, rolling seamlessly from crashing percussion to huge, swinging bass. There are epic singalong choruses destined for stadiums and packed festival main stages, and darker, edgier moments evoking late night cruises down dingy back streets. The band have been together since they were kids and they have matured into one of the UK's most exciting new bands. They have hit the road throughout the autumn and winter of 2022 supporting The Reytons, on their sold-out nationwide tour, following main support slots for the Pigeon Detectives, DMAs, The Enemy and The Snuts. The band completed a 16 date solo national tour in March 2022 and then embarked on a series of gigs to finish the year with a seven date solo tour culminating in a sold out 1300 capacity home town gig in Brum at the O2 Institute in late December. The live work now continues with a tour of major cities in spring 2023 including London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester. The band have been featured, to date, on Radio 1, 6, X and XS as well as Soccer AM & Clashmusic.com. They were also honoured to play on Radio 1's Big Weekend last year. In 2022 they have released the single ‘Electric', which has been played across BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Radio Derby, BBC Radio Nottingham, Student Music Network and more, and they followed this with their summer release ‘Forever Young' in July. Previous to this, two singles have reached No1 in the iTunes rock chart and just outside the Top 20 on the main chart and they have been playlisted by Spotify on All New Rock, Deezer's Hot New Rock and YouTube's Your New Alternative Playlist. The last three singles have witnessed real growth with over 4 million streams and 65k monthly listeners. There are plans for a release in early 2023 with a high-profile collaboration in the offing later in the spring. Watch this space! The Clause have had extensive support across all media – Soccer AM, BT Sports, This Feeling, Gigslutz, Band of the Day on Maximum Volume Music and Scottish Music Network among many others, plus a cover feature in the Sunday Mail and two-page interview on the Daily Record. They have also recently been awarded the BMA ‘Best Band' for the second year running, as well as ‘Best Indie and Alternative' act. #NewMusic #Interviews #Stories #SocialMedia

Tony Lyman began his radio career in hospital radio at Radio Nene Valley – whilst working as a postie - before making his radio debut on board the Voice of Peace, anchored just off Tel Aviv.  From there, he joined Trent in Nottingham in May 1979, assuming the role of relief presenter before graduating to his late-night slot, for which he’s fondly remembered on a station which then owned its market. He spent time too at the then National Broadcasting School as he honed his craft. Like many, he progressed up the schedule, with spells on breakfast and on the mid-morning show – and moving across to Leicester Sound at its launch, before returning to Trent.   The East Midlands was to become his long-term home, appearing on the oldies service GEM AM, Classic Gold, Century 106 and Saga Radio before moving to BBC local radio, eventually settling down at BBC Radio Derby. Tony was a calm, quiet operator who, like many presenters, just got better and better as a natural, witty communicator. In this audio, hear Tony’s early Trent work, then Classic Gold – and clips from what was to be his final programme on Radio Derby. Tony died in May 2021.

This time on The Business Mentor Podcast, Jay is interviewed on BBC Radio Derby about the effects of corona virus on business and how we can all pull together to get through this unprecedented time. Jay gives some first-hand advice on how you can keep your business afloat, giving tips on how to access government support and plan ahead so that you can bounce back after this all blows over! ABOUT THE GUEST Sati Rana is the creator and presenter of the Aaj Kal Show on BBC Radio Derby. The Aaj Kal Show established itself as the trail-blazing Bhangra radio programme in the UK. By 1988 it became the biggest radio programme in the country and steered the birth of Bhangra music in the UK!. https://uk.linkedin.com/in/sati-rana-054621129   ABOUT THE HOST Jay Dhillon is a serial entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist based in the UK with a proven track record of growing businesses from start-up to success- and helping others do the same. From humble beginnings, Jay grew his first business from 0 to 500 employees and three locations, racking up sales of over £30 million – all without any investment other than a small amount of savings. The business went on to acquire major clients such as Landrover, Jaguar, Toyota and New Look, to name a few. Its huge success inevitably brought about outside interest, and at the age of 33, Jay eventually sold the company to a London investment firm in Doyen Resources. Today, Jay owns several businesses in different sectors and helps entrepreneurs achieve success. A calling to give back and help others led to Jay being chosen for the highly coveted role as a Prince’s Trust mentor, where his achievements were marked by a personal invitation to Buckingham Palace to meet Prince Charles. After helping several young entrepreneurs to success as a mentor for the Trust, Jay’s burning desire to bring his wisdom and knowledge to a wider audience ultimately triggered the concept of The Business Mentor Podcast. Jay feels that anyone can achieve success in business with the right advice and mentoring and is now sharing his knowledge with his growing audience via his podcast. In the UK alone, 95% of business fail within the first five years, and Jay’s aim is to reduce that number. This week I went to BBC Radio Derby. I got this opportunity by speaking to a colleague at work who happened to know somebody who works there. Truth is I went in with no expectations, just wanting to learn what they do, get a tour and try and provide value. One of the people who works there, her husband works in podcasting too and might have a chat with me in the future. Opportunity is everywhere, you don't know where it's hiding until you look for it. Stop copying people, your journey is your own. Today (Sunday 16th February) I spoke to a guy named Tom Peyton. I met him on LinkedIn and we have been chatting for a few months now. Today he shared some tips with me about public speaking and sales. - For public speaking he said - Try and get people at events where your target audience is there but your competition is not. Then you have noone else doing what you do, it shows your expertise and makes you highly valued in the room. Great point which I had nver thought of. For example, if you're in marketing, don't go to a marketing event, go to an event where sport companies are (if thats your target audience) then talk about marketing. - In regards to sales he shared a tip. This tip is called Lemlist. He said build an email list then send them an email via Lemlist sharing 1 piece of value on how they could improve their website, marketing, personal brand (whatever the service you're offering is) then say "Ihave more ideas if you are interested in a chat?" This value first approach establishes your expertise whilst also making them want more free info. - If you're like me and wondering how to get email, after finding companies there is a LinkedIn Google Chrome extension called Hunter.io that will pull emails from company pages on LinkedIn. Don't forget to leave a review/comment. I am looking for guests so if you want to be a guest, then message me on one of my social media channels below. Still have questions or want to chat? Call him anything but not a shock jock. This is the story of the Southerner who moved North and defined UK late night radio.  James Whale began his radio career on Day One at Newcastle’s Metro Radio, before moving to a brief, frustrating stint at BBC Radio Derby. When Radio Aire called, James answered and delivered a programme which was not only to be on radio but on TV too in one of the earliest ever televised radio programmes. Thus began a successful TV career, a rarity for a radio name. James was to appear on a host more stations including, notably, the original Talk Radio UK (later Talk Sport). In this hour of ‘Conversations’ James opens up about the end of his days there, his career before, his cancer, and his views on BBC local radio. He shares too his reasons for entering the Celebrity Big Brother house – his thoughts on what makes a great broadcaster - and his current radio life. In his own words, this is the James Whale story.
