Episode 9 | Let's Talk About Our Parents | Our Experiences, Stories, & Insights

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 3, 2019 37:45

In this Episode, we talk about PARENTS. The people who have loved us, raised us, hurt us, believed in us and shaped us to become who we are today. To some people, the topic of our parents can be really sensitive one. For others, your parents might be great role model figures. We can’t speak for other people, but in Episode 9, we wanted to share bits and pieces of our personal experiences with our parents. As we share our stories, we hope that you would be able to laugh, empathise, have deeper insight and understand that you are not alone. No one is perfect - not us, and not even our parents. There are always pro’s and con’s in anything and anyone. We hope to inspire you to take what is good. The good things your parents have shown you, modelled and lived out - and carry those things into the legacy you leave. And the pain? The hurt? The things your parents did that weren’t so good? We have found so much freedom in forgiveness, reconciliation and communication. It is an ongoing journey - and the relationships we have with our parents will never be perfect. But we believe that there is beauty in the mess - and it’s cool when we walk through issues and good times with our parents, together. Thanks once again for tuning in! We'd love to hear your thoughts!

We back with another episode! Today we talk about the comparison between ease and hardship when it comes to progress. Progress can come in many forms, whether it be for our careers, personal development and even for the different relationships we have in our lives. Ease can be seen as a threat to our progress. This is because ease can often lead to laziness, entitlement and tendencies to look for shortcuts. On the other hand, hardships can shape us, build us and toughen our skin depending on how we live through that process. When walked through wisely, our hardships can actually help our progress- often times more than we realize. Thanks again guys, for tuning in! Episode 4 | Trust the Process | 1 Thing we Learnt Through the Process

In today’s culture, we want things now. Patience is a word we don’t like, and constructions seem ugly. However, good things take time. Nothing of value comes easily. Buildings don’t get built overnight. They get built over time. In the same way, sometimes it can be discouraging when we dream big dreams and take action but don’t see instant results. We all walk through a process between the dream - our end goal, and our now. Sometimes this process can be tiring, demotivating, and demoralising. But we believe there is power in embracing the journey while keeping the destination in mind. On this episode, we talk about the difficulties we might face when walking through the process - but it’s the process that builds the foundation of our character. The things we spend our time on and prioritise often indicate what we value. It is important to figure out what’s important to us, because they often reflect who we are as a person. Knowing what we value can help us make healthy decisions and live a life true to who we are. Whether it’s a creative project, a hobby, sport or musical instrument, there are certain things that bring us to life and make us lose track of time. The things that often come easy to us, the things we love, and the things we’d do for free can reveal more of who we are. On this episode, we talk about the importance of values, the things we personally value and one thing we do that makes us lose track of time. Episode 2 | Decision Making & Control | I Decision We Made That We Are Proud Of

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 9, 2019 37:28

There are lots of things in life that are beyond our control. It's easy to get stuck worrying, feeling helpless and overwhelmed when focusing on those things outside of our control. But if we dig a little deeper, there are in fact, some things that are fully in our control - like the way we respond to circumstances and the way we choose to speak, think and act. On this episode, we talk about having a victim mentality and why that could be harmful vs. accepting the things we can't control + focusing on the things we can. We both have had hardships, embracing things outside of our control, but have found so much freedom letting go and investing more time and energy into things that were within our control. It is almost essential to find a helpful support system in order to gain a wider perspective of our circumstances. Through the advice and guidance of the people we trust, it can help us to see things with heaps more clarity. As an example of this, we talk about "1 decision we made that we are proud of" where we based our decisions according to our values, celebrating our little wins. Episode 1 | Community, Loyalty, Getting Plugged In | 1 Thing We Wish We Knew When We Were 18

On this episode, we talk about isolation and discuss how to combat that by getting plugged into a community. Community can look like many things - it could be your family, friendship circle, local sporting club or even your church. We have both wrestled with the concept, but have come to find so much value in doing life plugged into a healthy and supportive community or "tribe". We want to encourage young people to reach out and find support in a community, as a reminder that they are not alone. We also talk about "1 thing we wish we knew when we were 18", sharing our experiences and being real about our journey. We hope to inspire teens and young adults to 'reflect' more and understand the importance of 'loyalty' as they navigate life.
