Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Actors TJ Ramini and Darren Hart along with Luke as another wonderful Champions League night in N17 saw us overcome Borussia Dortmund with goals from Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke rounding off an excellent performance. Tuesday's 2-0 victory guaranteed a top 24 finish in the league phase and a play-off place and, depending on Wednesday night's results, it's likely a win at Eintracht Frankfurt next Wednesday will secure a passage straight into the last 16. Facing a Dortmund side which had only lost once in the Bundesliga all season and were joint top scorers in this season's Champions League, we were always on top in the contest, even before Daniel Svensson was given a straight red card in the 26th minute. By that stage, Romero had netted his first Champions League goal for us, while Solanke capped his first start of the season with his first goal of the campaign to put us 2-0 up at the break, a lead we didn't relinquish. It extended our run to 24 home European matches without defeat and four home wins without conceding in the league phase this term, while there was a further bright spot with a debut off the bench for 17-year-old Academy product Jun'ai Byfield, becoming Legacy Number 902 in the process. We also discuss what impact the nature of the result has on under-fire head coach Thomas Frank. Who would try to hire a hitman to kill an innocent young girl? In early 2021, Riley ended a relationship with a man she had been in a year-long online relationship with after she alleges he assaulted her. Despite the breakup, he continued to message her relentlessly. Instead of backing down, Scott escalated his feelings of anger, turning to the dark web. He paid $19,000 AUD to hire a hitman to kill her. The reality of the plot became clear when police knocked on the door of Riley’s family home. It was her mother, Jamie Elder, who answered, learning that someone had tried to arrange her daughter’s murder. Jamie is now Riley’s advocate, fighting for justice while the man accused of orchestrating the hit walks free. You can follow Jamie on TikTok and support her advocacy here. Why are women less likely to receive CPR than men? Is your drinking a problem? And why can you sometimes feel which ovary you’re ovulating from? We've returned to usual programming and are bringing you fresh content to kick-start your new year.In this episode, Dr Mariam and Claire speak to Professor Kate Conigrave, an Addiction Medicine Specialist and Public Health Physician, to unpack the reality of Australia’s relationship with alcohol. They discuss how to identify if you have an alcohol dependency, the link between mental health and drinking, and the physical impact alcohol has on the brain and body. Plus, we look at the gender gap in cardiac arrest survival rates. We explain why bystanders are hesitant to perform CPR on women, the fear of "inappropriate touching" and why training mannequins need an update. And, in the quick consult, we drop into the Doctor's Office to answer Nadia’s question about why her ovaries feel like they are "kicking her in the guts". We explain 'Mittelschmerz' (ovulation pain), why it happens and when pain levels signal a need for further investigation into conditions like endometriosis. I've spoken to some really inspiring people over the last year, many of which have used exercise and fitness as a means to get their head back in the game. Firstly, fellow Brit Jack Pitcher decided running across Australia was the perfect project to focus his energy on when his mind wasn't quite right. Then, congenital amputee Louise Hawkins on how CrossFit inspired her to stop hiding her disability. And finally, Australian model and influencer James Parr on returning to the gym just weeks after losing his leg. On September 7, 1971, at a remote farmhouse 40 kilometres south of Adelaide, Clifford Bartholomew killed 10 people. His wife, his seven children, his sister-in-law and her 19-month-old son. He shot them all dead. He was sentenced to death, but because of changes to the law, he wasn’t killed. Instead, he was re-sentenced to life in prison and managed to serve just eight years before being released on parole. He changed his name, his identity and created an entirely new family who knew nothing about his previous life or his crimes… until now. On a summer evening in January 1983, 10-year-old Louise Bell went missing from her bedroom in Adelaide's Hackham West. It was a case that horrified Australia, as every parent's worst nightmare became reality for the Bell family. How could a young girl tucked up in her bed in a safe, suburban neighbourhood just go missing in the middle of the night? It would take 30 years, and advances in DNA technology, to find out who was responsible for the disappearance of Louise Bell. Supporting audio supplied by ABC South Australia. It started with clumsiness at high jump. Then, midway through Year 12, Deanna Renee woke up partially blind in one eye. At just 17, she was diagnosed with *Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Her classmates shunned her, convinced MS was a contagious STI. The internet told her she’d be in a wheelchair by 25. Today, she is a viral content creator, proving them all wrong. In this raw and often hilarious episode of the Well Summer Series, Claire Murphy sits down with Deanna to discuss the reality of growing up with a chronic neurological condition. They cover the isolation of high school, the darkness of her early 20s and the "bohemian doctor" who finally gave her hope. Deanna also opens up about the unique challenges of living with an invisible disability - from being "uninvited" to Schoolies to battling "Karens" in car parks who don't believe she's sick enough to park in disabled spots. Plus, we learn how she turned her MRI scans into art and became a viral advocate on TikTok. Get ready to have your perceptions challenged by a woman who refuses to let a diagnosis define her future. *MS is the most common acquired chronic neurological disease affecting young adults, often diagnosed between the ages of 20 to 40 and, in Australia, affects three times more women than men. As yet, there is no cure. There is no known single cause of MS, but many genetic and environmental factors have been shown to contribute to its development. In MS, the body’s own immune system mistakenly attacks and damages the fatty material – called myelin – around the nerves. This results in a range of symptoms, but no two people experience MS in the same way.**Content Warning: This episode discusses suicide and mental health struggles. Today, a conversation about what happens when a clever design school project turns into something much bigger. Empowerment Plan has become a made‑in‑Detroit way of literally keeping the world warm. Brenden Abbott, known as The Postcard Bandit, is one of Australia’s most notorious bank robbers and prison escapees. He's the guy who developed the “drop-in heist,” hiding in a bank’s ceiling overnight and dropping down as staff opened the vault. Abbott continued a crime spree across Western Australia, South Australia, and Queensland, robbing banks and avoiding police. Reports claimed he sent postcards to authorities while on the run, earning his infamous nickname. Today, he remains in Casuarina Prison, having spent more time in solitary confinement than most inmates and serving longer than many murderers. In this episode, we spoke to his son, James, and retired officer, Glen Porter, about whether it’s time for Abbott to finally be released. Hey friend. I'm so glad you're here with me today. If you're listening to this, chances are life has been feeling a little… full. Not bad. Not wrong. Just full. Between work, kids, school, meals, and all the little decisions you make from the second your feet hit the floor, it's no wonder your heart is craving rest. I'm just sitting here in our -20 degree weather batching some episodes as our next few weeks we are going to be enjoying all the family and Grandkids. Good day to stay inside! Today I want to talk about something that has changed my life and has changed the lives of thousands of busy moms I've walked with…Simplicity. Not the Pinterest kind. Not the everything-is-perfect kind. But the kind that actually makes your life easier. The kind that brings peace back into your home. The kind that reconnects you with the moments that matter most. Most moms don't realize this, but complexity steals our joy one tiny decision at a time. Every extra step. Every scattered routine. Every night you walk into the kitchen wondering what on earth to cook, it all chips away at your energy. And the truth is your exhaustion isn't a character flaw. It's not because you should be doing better. You're tired because your life is overcrowded. Simplicity pulls back the layers so you can breathe again. And Scripture tells us that God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. When your life feels chaotic, it doesn't mean you've failed, it means something needs to be simplified. When moms hear the word simplify, they think they need to add something like more organization, more color-coded systems, more complicated meal plans. But true simplicity is about removing what drains you. It's choosing fewer decisions instead of more. It's creating small repeatable rhythms so your brain doesn't have to work so hard. It's letting meals become easier by cooking once and eating all week. It's allowing grocery day to be simple by keeping the same staples on hand. It's trusting that less really is enough. When you take away the noise, you uncover a life that was already waiting for you - slower, calmer, more intentional. Simplicity doesn't just change your to-do list. It changes you. Your evenings feel peaceful instead of rushed. • Your kids get a more present, less frazzled version of you. • You start saving money because you're not grabbing takeout out of panic. • You stop living in survival mode and start living on purpose. • You begin to feel like you have your life back, even while working full-time. So many moms tell me, I didn't know it could feel this easy. But it can. And it starts with small shifts, often one simple system at a time. I didn't start out living simply, I learned it because I had to. As a nurse, I worked long shifts. I came home exhausted, hungry, and feeling like I had nothing left to give. I didn't want fast food to raise my kids, and I didn't want stress to define our home. So I started building small systems. Batch cooking. Simple routines. Staples I always kept on hand. Healthy meals that took minutes, not hours and an automated online business. And friend… that changed everything. It gave me margin. It gave me peace. It gave me time with my family that I didn't have before. And that's why I teach it now because I know what it feels like to carry more than you were ever meant to hold. If you're listening and thinking, I want this… but I don't know where to start, hear this: You don't have to overhaul your life. You don't need a planner full of color-coded tabs. You don't need a new personality. You just need one simple step. One small shift that lightens your load. And this January, I'm leading a FREE No Spend Challenge that will help you reset your budget, simplify your daily decisions, and start the year with intention, not stress & overwhelm. It's designed for the busy mom who feels like she's drowning in expenses, rushing through evenings, and wishing life could slow down. And it's completely free. Link for NO SPEND CHALLENGE -> https://stan.store/ClaimingSimplicity You can join at the link below, and each week I'll walk with you through small, simple changes that make a big difference in your spending. Friend, simplicity isn't about doing less so you can be more productive. Simplicity is about making room for what truly matters. It's about creating space for joy, presence, peace, and purpose. You deserve a life that feels lighter. You deserve systems that support you. And you deserve to live in a home where stress doesn't get the final say. I'm cheering for you, and I'm grateful we get to walk this journey together. Happy New Year Friend! Monica
In this episode of The Leftover Pieces; Suicide Loss Conversations, I'm joined by Sean Dadashi to explore how journaling can support healing after suicide loss. We talk about why journaling often becomes a lifeline for grievers, how reflective practices help after traumatic loss, and why having accessible tools for processing grief matters — especially in the aftermath of a death by suicide.(P.S... I use and love this app!) Sean shares his own lived experience with depression and suicidal thoughts as a teenager, and how journaling helped him survive during a time when he felt untethered and overwhelmed. That experience eventually led him to co-found Rosebud, a therapist-backed journaling app designed to support emotional awareness, reflection, and personal growth. In this conversation, we discuss the cognitive science behind journaling, why it can be especially supportive after suicide loss, and how reflective practices help grievers begin to make sense of their inner world — without replacing therapy or crisis care. We're clear about boundaries: journaling is not treatment, and it is not emergency support — but it is a powerful companion tool for many people navigating grief and trauma. We also talk about:Why journaling after suicide loss can feel safer for some grievers than talking out loudHow micro-habits and gentle prompts support consistency without pressureThe difference between journaling, therapy, and crisis resourcesEthical technology use in mental-health spacesPrivacy, encryption, and responsible data handlingThe CARE Initiative, focused on safeguarding and accountability in mental-health technologyI also share why I personally value journaling as part of a broader support system after loss — including the option to speak rather than type, receive thoughtful prompts, and engage in reflection without having to “know what to say.”This episode is grounded, educational, and honest — offering grievers, supporters, and clinicians alike a clearer understanding of how journaling can support healing after suicide loss, while honoring the reality that no single tool is enough on its own Rosebud — Journaling App & Resources:

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcaster Russ Williams, Patrick Tyrant and Luke as Archie Gray's first senior goal ensured our 2025 finished on a high note as we enjoyed a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. The 19-year-old midfielder nodded home from close range shortly before half-time at a cold Selhurst Park for the only goal of the game on what was the 112th appearance of his fledgling career and 60th in our colours. We had to weather the storm at times as Palace dominated for much of the game, although we did see two Richarlison goals disallowed for offside and hit the post through Wilson Odobert, but in the end we dug deep and ground out an important result to bring the curtain down on the year.
