What if saving money didn't require giving up the things you enjoy—but simply changing how you manage what you already earn? The truth is, small, intentional habits can quietly build significant wealth over time. By putting the right systems in place, you can make saving feel effortless instead of overwhelming. Links: Track your savings goals with Goal Builder Explore some other saving challenges to make saving fun Check out TCU University for financial education tips and resources! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! Learn more about Triangle Credit Union Transcript: Welcome to Money Tip Tuesday from the Making Money Personal podcast. Saving money doesn't have to feel restrictive. With the right strategies you can steadily build financial security without drastically changing your lifestyle. Whether you're just getting started or looking to improve your current habits, these 5 practical approaches can help you save more efficiently and consistently. Number 1: Automate savings with direct deposit. One of the simplest and most effective ways to save money is to remove the need for decision-making altogether. Automating your savings ensures that a portion of your income is set aside before you have the chance to spend it. Many employers allow you to split your direct deposit into multiple accounts. By directing a percentage of each paycheck into a dedicated savings account, you create a "pay yourself first" system. This method builds savings effortlessly and reduces the temptation to spend. Even small automated contributions of 5-10% or $25-$50 a paycheck can add up significantly over time, especially when paired with interest-earning accounts. Number 2: Set up a savings goal tracker. Having a clear savings goal gives your efforts purpose and direction. Whether you're saving for an emergency fund, a vacation, or a large purchase, tracking your progress helps you stay motivated. A savings tracker can be as simple as a spreadsheet, mobile app, or visual chart. For more sophisticated tracking try an online banking tool like Triangle's Goal Builder tool within online and mobile banking. Seeing your progress grow over time reinforces positive financial behavior and keeps you accountable. To make tracking more fun, break your larger goals into smaller milestones. For example, instead of focusing on saving $10,000, focus on and celebrate reaching every $1,000 mark. These smaller wins make the process feel achievable and rewarding. Number 3: Try a savings challenge. Savings challenges are a fun and structured way to build momentum. They turn saving into a game, making it more engaging and less of a chore. Popular challenges include: The 52-week challenge, where you gradually increase your savings each week or save a certain amount of money each week for a whole year The no-spend challenge, where you limit discretionary purchases for a set period The round-up method, where purchases are rounded up and the difference is saved The 100-envelope challenge, where you save a specified dollar amount in every envelope until they're all filled These challenges not only boost your savings but also increase awareness of your spending habits. Over time, they can help you develop long-term discipline and smarter financial choices. For more ideas on additional savings challenges visit triangleuniversity.org or follow the link in the show notes. Number 4: Seek out high-yield savings accounts. Not all savings accounts are created equal. Traditional accounts often offer minimal interest, while high-yield savings accounts provide significantly better returns. By keeping your money in a high-yield account, you allow your savings to grow passively through compound interest. Even modest interest rates can make a noticeable difference over time, especially with consistent contributions. When comparing accounts, consider: Interest rates (APY) Fees Minimum balance requirements to open the account or earn interest Ease of access Choosing the right high-yield savings account ensures your money is working as hard as you do. Number 5: Make use of employer benefits like FSAs and HSAs. Employer-sponsored benefits such as Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) can be powerful tools for saving money, particularly on healthcare expenses. These accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax income, effectively reducing your taxable income and increasing your take-home value. HSAs, in particular, offer long-term advantages since unused funds can roll over year after year and even be invested. By planning for expected medical costs using these accounts, you can avoid dipping into your regular savings and maximize your financial efficiency. Saving money effectively isn't about making drastic sacrifices—it's about building smart, sustainable habits. By automating your savings, tracking goals, engaging in challenges, maximizing interest, and leveraging available benefits, you can steadily grow your financial security. Start small, stay consistent, and remember: every dollar saved is a step closer to your financial goals. Alethea Felton shares on this episode of the Vibrant Living Podcast about obedience, uncertainty, leadership, and what happens when God asks you to move before you fully understand where He is taking you. Alethea talks about fear, transition, trust, mentorship, and learning that authority does not come from having everything figured out. It grows through obedience, often long before confidence shows up. This is an honest conversation for anyone who has ever felt stretched between what feels safe and what they sense God calling them toward. This conversation was originally recorded during FORTIFIED: Women Rising in Authority, Ease, and Joy.In this episode, we talk about:Obedience and spiritual authorityFear, uncertainty, and trustLeadership and growthMentorship and supportMoving before you feel fully readyLearning to discern God's direction

Markets are rallying as the U.S. and Iran move closer to an interim agreement, but the biggest question is whether the Strait of Hormuz will actually reopen fast enough to relieve pressure on global oil supplies.Chuck Zodda and Mike Armstrong break down what is known about the proposed Iran deal, why energy markets still face a tight timeline, and how continued inventory drawdowns could keep pressure on gas prices later this summer. They also discuss Kevin Warsh's first Fed meeting as chair, why the Fed may need to communicate less while proving its inflation credibility, why Americans remain unhappy with the economy despite low unemployment, and how SpaceX's IPO is fueling renewed investor interest in the broader space sector.

Mentoring is one of the most powerful levers for women's growth and one of the most misunderstood. In this rich conversation, Giovanna sits down with two women who have dedicated their careers to getting mentoring right: Tamara Thorpe and Lisa Fain. Tamara Thorpe is the Founder of Real Mentors Network while Lisa Fain is the CEO of Center for Mentoring Excellence. They bring a combined 40+ years of mentoring excellence across industries, sectors, and global communities.Together, they pull back the curtain on why so many workplace mentoring programs quietly fall flat and what it actually takes to build a mentoring culture that helps people thrive, not just perform. In this episode, you'll discover:Why mentoring is "the most promiscuously used word in leadership development" — and what it actually meansThe three core elements of effective mentoring: reciprocity, learning, and co-creationWhy mentoring is a “triple win” for individuals, leaders, and organizationsWhy mentoring programs fail when treated as a DEI add-on or a technology fixWhy great mentors are coaches — but not all great coaches are mentorsHow top leadership buy-in makes mentoring measurable and how to find your mentoring ROI This is a conversation that will make you look at every mentoring relationship — past, present, and future — with fresh eyes. ✨ Ease in knowing that the best mentoring relationships do not require you to have all the answers. Real mentoring flows from curiosity, not expertise. When you stop trying to give advice and start asking better questions, something opens up for both of you.✨ Joy in the reciprocity. The mentor gains as much as the mentee. More engaged work, broader perspective, deeper satisfaction — these are not byproducts. They are the point. There is something genuinely joyful in a relationship where both people walk away more whole than they arrived.✨ Impact in building something that lasts. A single well-supported mentoring culture can change retention rates, career trajectories, and the texture of daily work life for everyone in an organization. That kind of impact is quiet, cumulative, and profound.✨ Self-trust in knowing when a relationship is truly investing in you and when it only looks like it is. Lisa knew the difference between her lunches and her real mentor, even before she had words for it. You already know the difference too. Trust what you feel in those relationships. That instinct is your compass.----------------✨ The Well Woman Show is delighted to partner with the Work and Family Researchers Network and its next conference June 17-20, 2026 in Montreal, Canada. England finished off their World Cup warmups with a 3-0 win over Costa Rica in Orlando, but only after they'd been made to wait by adverse weather. Declan Rice, Anthony Gordon and Ollie Watkins scored as attention now turns to the game against Croatia next week, as Thomas Tuchel's men look to finally bring football home. Back on domestic soil, one of England's stars is the subject of a mega-money bid from Manchester City. Elliot Anderson is a wanted man, with City reportedly having bid over £100m for the Nottingham Forest midfielder. Despite being no longer a Premier League side, Wolves are making headlines too. They've sacked Rob Edwards just days after he was instrumental in the signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, and are replacing him with Portuguese boss Cesar Peixoto. Have you ever committed to something — really committed — and then felt the pushback start almost immediately? The friction, the doubt, the voice in your head saying maybe this wasn't meant to be? I used to think that was a sign something was wrong. I've learned to read it differently now.Pressure Is a PrivilegeThe reframe starts here: pressure is not a punishment. It's a privilege. Father Mike Schmidt's podcast planted the phrase for me, and once I heard it, I started seeing it everywhere. Novak Djokovic says it too — pressure means you're doing something important. The logic is simple: when there's real pressure, there's a real opportunity attached to it. When an athlete stops feeling pressure before a match, it usually means they've stopped caring whether it matters. The stakes and the pressure come together. You can't have one without the other.Headwinds Are Physics, Not a WarningHere's the reframe that I think changes everything: if you're sitting still, there's no resistance. Life is smooth. No friction, no drag, no headwind. But that also means you're not moving. The moment you start heading somewhere, physics kicks in. A bicycle creates wind resistance. A car window pushed open feels the air push back. An airplane doesn't fight headwinds because they're the enemy — it fights them because you can't get lift without resistance. You can't gain altitude without headwinds. The headwind doesn't mean you're going the wrong direction. It means you're going.Where Self-Help Gets It BackwardsA lot of mainstream advice says: if it's hard, something's wrong. If there's struggle, maybe you're not cut out for this. If things flow easily, that's confirmation you're on the right path. I think that's exactly backwards. Ease can mean you're not stretching. Comfort can mean you're shrinking. No resistance can mean you're not moving at all. The reframe: resistance is not evidence that you're doing something wrong. Resistance is evidence that you're doing something enough — something real, something that has weight and stakes and consequence. Nobody gets significant pushback for staying exactly the same.God Trains in the Hard PlacesFor those of us who are people of faith: the resistance isn't the absence of a blessing. It's a training ground. Every person in the Bible who was going somewhere faced headwinds. No one had an easy ride of it. God doesn't refine us in comfortable places. He refines us in hard ones. And if you're not facing any resistance right now, it's worth asking honestly — are you actually moving anywhere? Not a judgment. A question I've had to ask myself too.Four Practical Things to Do When Pressure HitsBecause knowing that pressure is a privilege doesn't make it feel like one in the middle of it. Here's what helps. First, name it — say out loud, this is resistance, this is what moving feels like. That single act breaks the panic and shifts you from reacting to observing. Second, ask a better question — instead of “is this a sign I should stop?” ask “what is this resistance telling me about where I'm going?” The pressure becomes your curriculum. Third, don't confuse hard with wrong — some of the most right things you'll ever do will be genuinely hard. Hard is not a verdict. And fourth, stay in motion — no heroic surges, no giant leaps. Just don't stop. The pressure is not stronger than your next step.Stay Out of the HarborSailors know something most of us forget: the storm doesn't care where you are. It will find you in the harbor too. Staying still doesn't protect you from hard things — it just means you face them without any skills, without any momentum, without any ability to tack left or right. When you're moving, even slowly, you start to develop instincts. You learn to read the water. You start to angle into the wind or away from it. The very forces that would capsize you in the harbor become the forces that carry you through. The breeze isn't warning you. It's training you.Jill's Linkshttp://jillfromthenorthwoods.comhttps://www.youtube.com/@startwithsmallstepshttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/startwithsmallstepshttps://twitter.com/schmernEmail the podcast at jill@startwithsmallsteps.comBy choosing to watch this video or listen to this podcast, you acknowledge that you are doing so of your own free will. In this solo episode, Madelyn explores one of the most powerful mindset shifts she has integrated into her own life: focusing on your desired state rather than the fear of what could go wrong.Drawing on personal stories, parenting moments, manifestation principles, and teachings from Neville Goddard, she shares how consciously choosing your desired outcome can transform the way you move. This is not about ignoring reality or pretending fear does not exist. It is about becoming aware of where your attention is going, choosing the reality you want to create, and maintaining that state long enough for it to become your experience.Follow Magnetic with Madelyn → https://www.instagram.com/magneticwithmadelynIn this episode, we cover:What it means to focus on your desired stateWhy fear and worry often create the outcomes we are trying to avoidThe simple mindset practice Madelyn uses with her childrenHow to shift from overwhelm into trust and certaintyThe airport story that reinforced the power of expectationNeville Goddard's teachings on creating your realityWhy maintaining your desired state is more important than choosing itThe connection between abundance, manifestation, and self trustHow to use this practice in relationships, work, parenting, and everyday lifePractical ways to create more ease and flow in your realityIf this episode resonated with you, hit subscribe, leave a comment, or share it with someone who needs this reminder today.Your support helps grow this beautiful community of women learning to trust themselves, create intentionally, and become the most magnetic versions of themselves.
There's a difference between knowing about God and learning how to stay connected to Him in the middle of real life. In this conversation from FORTIFIED: Women Rising in Authority, Ease, and Joy, Laurie Cavanaugh shares her journey through burnout, breast cancer, striving, healing, and rediscovering a personal relationship with God through the practice of praise. What makes Laurie's story powerful is not perfection. It's honesty. She talks about the slow drift so many women experience while carrying responsibility, performing, pushing through, and quietly losing connection to themselves and to God. And she shares how praise became more than worship for her. It became healing. Alignment. Activation. A way of living. In this episode, we talk about:✨ The difference between performing and truly connecting with God✨ Burnout, striving, and emotional exhaustion✨ How praise shifts your internal atmosphere✨ Healing after difficult seasons✨ Why support and accountability matter✨ Learning to receive help before everything falls apartLaurie's message from FORTIFIED is called: The Power of Praise to Heal, Transform, and Activate

Most people are exhausted not because they're doing too much, but because they're doing it wrong.Dr. Maria Nemeth, psychologist, master certified coach, and founder of the Academy for Coaching Excellence (ACE), joins Brigitte Cutshall on Real Things Living to share a deceptively simple definition of success — and the four-part framework that makes it possible for anyone to live with more intention and less chaos.3 Takeaways:(1) Success has a new definition. It's not achievement at any cost — it's doing what you said you would do, consistently, with clarity, focus, ease, and grace. (2) "Nevertheless, I am willing." Those four words are a practice. You don't have to feel ready, fearless, or motivated — just willing. (3) Gratitude isn't just feel-good advice — it's neuroscience. Focusing on what you're grateful for literally calms the amygdala, the brain's threat center, and research shows it's the actual driver of happiness.Ready to lighten up and live the life you know you wantConnect with Dr. Maria at https://marianemeth.comCheck out The Energy of Money PodcastOr reach out directly at maria@mariaNemeth.com to explore coaching

What if the biggest issues in dentistry are the ones you can't see? In this episode of the Raving Patients Podcast, Dr. Len Tau sits down with renowned prosthodontist and innovator Cherilyn Sheets to discuss how new diagnostic technology is changing the future of dentistry. Cherilyn shares the story behind Interview and Quantitative Percussion Diagnostics (QPD), a science-based system designed to detect cracks, loose restorations, implant instability, and structural weaknesses before they become catastrophic problems. Dr. Tau and Cherilyn explore how this technology helps dentists improve diagnostics, increase patient trust, and boost case acceptance by showing patients issues that traditional imaging often misses. They also dive into the intersection of dentistry, engineering, AI, and preventive care, along with the journey of bringing a groundbreaking dental innovation to market. In this episode, I use a question Rawlins asks John Grady Cole in All the Pretty Horses as a doorway into the feeling of being ill at ease in the world. I bring McCarthy into conversation with Sigmund Freud's Civilization and Its Discontents, Peter Zapffe, and Thomas Ligotti to wrestle with the strange burden of consciousness, the ache of modern ennui, and the palliatives we need to cope with the sheer difficulty of existence. This is not an episode about finding a neat cure for the human condition. It's about asking what it means to live honestly inside discomfort, to recognize that civilization both shelters and wounds us, and to find forms of friendship, art, ritual, love, humor, and courage that help us keep the fire going against the dark.

Adam Kramer, vice president of equity research at Morgan Stanley, joined the REIT Report podcast to discuss developments in the multifamily REIT sector. While factors such as geopolitical tensions, elevated interest rates, and policy uncertainty have contributed to caution in the market, Kramer emphasized that the real focus is on the apartment supply cycle and the pace of demand recovery. “For us, it's much more about fundamentals, much more about rent growth, occupancy and how that looks in the recovery from supply,” Kramer said.According to Kramer, the sector is now clearly nearing the end of its historic construction wave, with the national under-construction pipeline at its lowest level since 2013 and housing starts trending toward their weakest levels since 2012.Chapters: 00:00 Recovery After Supply00:23 Welcome to REIT Report00:41 Macro Uncertainty Outlook02:04 Supply Cycle Nearing End04:33 Coastal vs Sun Belt06:03 Submarket Divergence07:36 NOI Growth Drivers09:39 Balance Sheets and Rates10:38 Management Priorities Ahead11:41 Closing and Subscribe

The freight market is not easing quietly. On this week's episode of The Transfix Take, Jenni Ruiz and Maze break down a fast-moving week across transportation, from the fallout of C.H. Robinson's carrier purge to a national rate environment that is starting to feel uncomfortably familiar. With linehaul rates climbing to $2.36 per mile, tender rejections sitting at 17%, and spot market activity hitting levels not seen since the COVID-era peaks, brokers and shippers are once again being forced to make decisions quickly. Here's what we cover: • C.H. Robinson's carrier purge signals a major shift in broker risk management following the Montgomery v. Karibe Transport II decision. • Diesel offered some relief, dropping 17 cents to $5.35 per gallon, but rates are still climbing fast. • National linehaul rates are up nearly 20% in roughly three weeks, putting serious pressure on shippers. • Tender rejections are sitting at 17%, higher than they were during DOT Week. • The Southeast remains the toughest region for capacity, with Savannah especially tight and rates to Atlanta jumping sharply. • The Coastal and Southern regions are still seeing pressure, especially on freight moving into the Northeast and Midwest. • The Northeast is showing seasonal easing, while the West Coast is beginning to tighten, particularly on long-haul lanes out of California. • The spot market remains extremely volatile, with both rates and volume reaching highs not seen in years. With July 4th approaching and regional capacity still shifting, this is a market that demands close attention and faster decision-making. -- Disclaimer: All views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of Transfix, Inc. or any parent companies or affiliates or the companies with which the participants are affiliated, and may have been previously disseminated by them. Karen Doll is a licensed psychologist, author of "Building Psychological Fitness: How High Performers Achieve with Ease," a partner at Psynet Group and chairs the Flourishing at Work initiative under Harvard's Flourishing Program. Most leaders know how to push through stress. Far fewer know how to recover from it. Karen argues that the difference matters more than most people realize. In this conversation, she explains why psychological fitness is not a personality trait but a trainable skill. She breaks down the difference between the stress that helps you grow and the stress that slowly wears you down, why resilience is more about recharging than enduring, and what leaders can do to support mental health at work without trying to become therapists. For leaders who feel constantly on, stretched thin, or responsible for the wellbeing of their teams, this episode offers a practical framework for building resilience that lasts. Wabi Sabi - The Perfectly Imperfect Podcast with Candice Kumai
A practical, honest reset for anyone who wants to feel better this summer through food, matcha, meditation, movement, rest, better boundaries, supportive work, and more intentional living. This is about improving your health and wellness journey from June forward without making it complicated, fake, or overwhelming. Intro From Candice Happy June, and welcome back to Wabi Sabi. Today, I want to talk about the June reset and how we can use this month as a fresh start for our health, energy, and ease. June is the beginning of summer and the halfway point of the year, which makes it a really beautiful time to pause and ask ourselves: what is actually helping me feel better, and what do I want the second half of this year to feel like? I was recently asked at one of my speaking events a few questions that sounded simple, but were actually very honest. What does your routine look like? What do you eat regularly? What do you do to feel well? And what advice would you give someone who wants to improve their health and wellness journey from June forward? I loved those questions because I think they are the questions so many of us are quietly asking. How do I take better care of myself when life is full? How do I eat well without making it complicated? How do I create a routine that actually supports me? How do I rest when I have responsibilities? How do I begin again when the first half of the year did not go exactly as planned? For me, May was full and meaningful. It was AANHPI Month, and I was grateful to share my Japanese heritage, matcha, wellness, and culture through ABC News, speaking events, library events, wellness gatherings, and beautiful rooms where we could talk about the deeper meaning behind this work. But May was also very hard. Someone I used to be very close to passed away suddenly. And bad news came in a few areas-- So while I am grateful, I am also human. I have been processing grief, uncertainty, exhaustion, and the reminder that health is not something we can keep putting off. So this episode is not about pretending everything is fine. It is not about a perfect wellness routine. It is not about becoming a different person overnight. It is about simple things that actually help. Food that steadies you. Morning rituals that calm you. Movement that gives you energy back. Rest that restores you. Work and people that respect your health. And a summer that lets your nervous system breathe. This is your June reset. A summer guide to health, energy, and ease. Thank you for listening x ck
There is no Tom behind TOMS Shoes. It's short for “Tomorrow's.” There is a Blake, however. Blake Mycoskie founded the company in 2006 under the model that for every pair sold, a second pair would be donated to children in the developing world. TOMS took off, which meant years of constant work for Blake, traveling the world telling the TOMS story, and ultimately getting burned out and selling the company. Despite all the snowboarding he could now do, Blake found himself without purpose and lonely (all his friends worked at the company he just quit because those were the only people he had time to see.) His mental health crashed. He became depressed and anxious for the first time ever, considered suicide, and traveled the world trying every kind of treatment he could find. In the end, getting off meds that were wrong for him and good therapy helped him find the core wound that had been driving him all those years and set out to address it. Blake Mycoskie has a new podcast, No Magic Pill, about how people seek to solve their problems. Thank you to all our listeners who support the show as monthly members of Maximum Fun.
