Dealing With Fears & Insecurities in Non-Monogamy

Fear, jealousy, and insecurity are some of the most common struggles couples face in the lifestyle, swinging, open relationships, and ethical non-monogamy. But what should you actually do when those feelings show up?In this episode of The Naughty Gym Show, April and Scott talk about the normal fears that come up in the lifestyle, including body comparison, fear of being replaced, anxiety around texting, repeat partners, kissing, solo dates, separate-room play, and the stories our brains create when we feel triggered. Most couples respond to fear by creating a new rule. Sometimes that can be helpful. Temporary agreements can act as scaffolding while trust and emotional capacity are being built. But when rules become the permanent solution, they can quietly turn into a cage.Scott and April introduce two practical frameworks from their upcoming Wild Love Theory workbook:The R.U.L.E. Pattern React to the TriggerUnpack the PainLimit the BehaviorEnforce the RuleThis is the common path couples take when fear shows up.The F.R.E.E. Framework Find the Real FearReexamine the StoryExpress the Need Without ControlExpand CapacityThis is a healthier way to process jealousy and insecurity without immediately turning fear into restriction. They also share personal examples from their own non-monogamous journey, including how insecurity can be connected to body image, relationship load, disconnection, old wounds, overwhelm, and feeling undesirable or unchosen. This episode is for anyone in the lifestyle, curious about ethical non-monogamy, or trying to understand how to deal with jealousy, rules, boundaries, insecurity, and fear without making each other smaller. The goal is not to build enough rules that nobody ever gets scared. The goal is to build enough capacity that fear no longer has to run the relationship.Learn more about our events, community, retreats, podcast, and upcoming book at NaughtyGym.com.Investor Info:scott@wandervest.worldNaughty Gym Info:Naughty Gym Website- www.naughtygym.comNaughty Gym Patreon- https://www.patreon.com/cw/NaughtyGymOur Upcoming Events:1. I share honestly about comparison, performative Christianity, balancing motherhood with work, and how God meets us even in our weakness. No bad blood. This Scorpio Full Moon isn't here to play nice… she's here to transform you.In this episode of Chakras & Cusswords, we're diving deep into the shadowy, sensual waters of this lunation — where Taurus comfort meets Scorpio truth, and the version of you that's been holding on out of fear is finally ready to be released. We talk about the insecurities rising to the surface right now — the overthinking, the comparison, the quiet fears you don't always say out loud — and how this Full Moon is illuminating them not to shame you, but to free you. This is your permission slip to feel it all… without losing yourself in it.We'll break down the key chakras to work with (root, sacral, solar plexus, and third eye) so you can stay grounded while doing the emotional alchemy. Think: regulating your nervous system, honoring your feelings, and actually trusting your intuition instead of letting fear run the show. And of course, we're working with the energy of the Death card in tarot — not an ending to fear, but a rebirth into your power. This is about shedding the old identities, patterns, and beliefs that told you you weren't enough… and stepping into a version of you that doesn't question her worth. This episode is for the woman who is ready to: • stop seeking external validation• speak her truth (even if her voice shakes)• release control and trust what's meant for her• and finally let go of the versions of herself she's outgrownThis isn't surface-level healing. This is shadow work. This is emotional honesty. This is divine feminine power rising through the discomfort. So light your candle, pull your cards, run your bath… and meet yourself in the depths.Because on the other side of this Full Moon?Is a version of you that feels a lot more solid, clear, and unapologetically her. #fullmoon #scorpio #astrology #scorpiomoon

For the 200th episode, Sabrina tackles the question she gets asked more than anything: how do you actually believe you're enough? This one breaks down where insecurity really comes from, why "just have more confidence" is bullshit advice, and what social psychologist Mark Leary's sociometer theory reveals about self esteem, rejection, and why one mean comment drowns out a hundred compliments. If you grew up with conditional love, keep dating emotionally unavailable people, or can't stop missing someone who ran hot and cold, this episode is for you. Sabrina covers how to build real self trust, the difference between anxiety and intuition, why intermittent reinforcement feels like addiction, and the five source check questions that will show you exactly whose voice has been running your internal monologue. Somebody once pulled me aside at a men's mental health event I created and asked a question that hit way harder than it should have: “Who's qualified to speak about mental health?” I didn't argue, I didn't perform confidence, I just felt that sting and later realized what it really was, insecurity with a spotlight on it. That moment became the lens for a deeper talk on imposter syndrome, triggers, and why the comments that linger are often the ones trying to teach us something. I also connect the dots to The Four Agreements and the idea of “black magic,” the way words can plant shame that follows you for years. Then we get practical: some insecurities are fixable skill gaps that need reps, study, mentorship, and better systems. Others are emotional wounds like fear of rejection, abandonment, needing validation, or feeling unattractive, and those require internal work like therapy, support, spirituality, and honest conversations with yourself. The anchor is the Serenity Prayer: accept what you can't change, change what you can, and build the wisdom to know the difference. We talk about owning your background without negotiating your worth, why perfection kills confidence, how routines build self-trust, and even how parents can help boys unpack teasing before it hardens into lifelong shame. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with a friend who's been struggling quietly, and leave a review with the insecurity you're ready to stop protecting and start facing.Join our Patreon CommunityBuy some merch and ebooksIG: @terryroseland & @amansperspective_

Happy Mindset Monday!Your insecurities aren't the problem.Hiding them is.In this powerful conversation, I sit down with Tyler Dickerhoof, leadership mentor, founder of the Impact Driven Leader, and author of "The Things We Hide."Tyler introduces the Four Walls framework: inactivity, insensitivity, isolation, and intensity. These are the barriers we build when our insecurities get triggered. The goal isn't to remove your insecurities or tear down your walls. It's to put windows in them.Tyler shares the story of losing his brother Joel in a farming accident when he was 14, and how 25 years later he discovered that tragedy shaped the way he handled everything: with intensity. Head down, push through, leave carnage in relationships. This conversation gets vulnerable. Tyler opened up, and honestly, it broke me open too. I realized I've been hiding behind being "the expert" instead of letting people actually see me.

MCNAMARA AND JOHNSON'S DANGEROUS FEEDBACK LOOP Colleague William Taubman. Following JFK's assassination, Lyndon Johnson retained McNamara, relying on his efficiency and self-confidence to counter his own insecurities and depressive episodes. A dangerous feedback loop developed where McNamara, eager to please his new boss, adopted Johnson's "tone for action" regarding Vietnam, providing brilliant arguments for escalation that reinforced Johnson's instincts to fight.
