In this episode Demetrius discusses the issue of race in American politics. No one side can claim the highroad in this area. How should Christians respond to this tactic??? Check out the podcast to find out!
Demetrius discusses the "Big Lie", which was the means that Donald Trump used to foment outrage about unsubstantiated and dispelled accusations of voter fraud that led to the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021. Christians should be truth seekers and their needs to be honesty about what occurred. This episode will discuss attempts to authorize a congressional investigation into this matter and the Christian aspiration to be people of truth. It should be noted that on May 28, 2021, the Senate effort to pass legislation to authorize a commission to investigate the insurrection failed due to lack of Republican support.
Demetrius discusses current events and invites people to take a seat, or maybe several, to learn about Race, Justice, and the Black experience in America if they feel so inclined to discuss the issues. Listeners are also invited to dialogue and join Demetrius in future endeavors to come!
In the aftermath of another divisive election cycle that exacerbated the strain in the body of Christ I wanted do talk about the prospect of Christians in America doing justice together. We should be mindful of how access to power deepens our divisions but Christ has set the example for us to cast aside our self-interests to pursue one another in love and advocate for justice and righteousness together.
Criminal justice reform is a front and center topic during election years. The discussion falls along a spectrum that on one end advocates law and order and on the other criminal justice reform. On this episode, I'm discussing where should the Christian fall on this spectrum, problems within the criminal justice system, and the Christian attitude towards people in the system.
In this episode the fabled statement, "You can't legislate morality" is discussed. This statement is often used to discourage advocacy and legislation on issues of race/ethnicity. The break down of the statement will expose inconsistencies in application of this sentiment and why, as Christians, we need to be mindful of our duty to advocate for laws that reflect biblical morality. A reminder is also given to express that the pursuit of power from the state is not the same as seeking biblical justice.
In this inaugural episode Demetrius gives some context to his life's work fighting for justice and explains exactly where he's coming from when he speaks on justice!
