On Monday's Mark Levin Show, Democrats and the media are at it again, supporting violent riots, arson, and attacks on law enforcement in California, while labeling President Trump as authoritarian. A coalition of illegal aliens, Islamists, and Marxists are burning American flags, engaging in violence, and demanding to stay in America while causing this chaos.  Trump's deployment of the National Guard and Marines to address these riots is appropriate and lawful – Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and George H. Bush all used military forces in crises. These are not mostly peaceful protests, it's totally violent. These attacks were on federal law enforcement officers. Federal prosecution for assaults on federal officers is supported by 18 USC Section 111. Democrats will never clean up this mess because they created it - they want illegal aliens and Marxists here. That creates chaos and violence and destroys our governing system so they can fundamentally transform it. Also, Sen Tom Cotton calls in and defends Trump's use of federal authority to address the L.A. riots. Trump is acting within his legal rights to federalize the National Guard when local authorities, such as Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass, fail to control violence involving arson, looting, and attacks by illegal aliens.  Cotton criticizes Democrats and the media for portraying Trump's actions as authoritarian while ignoring the lawlessness and supporting the rioters' political causes.  He also addressed Iran's rejection of a nuclear proposal from Trump. The offer was generous, allowing Iran access to low-enriched uranium for civilian nuclear power, similar to what other countries receive. However, Iran's refusal suggests their true intent is to develop nuclear weapons, as enriching uranium to any level could lead to weapons-grade material. Later, a mural at Falafel Inc. in Fairfax County, Virginia is allegedly glorifying violent extremism and promoting anti-American symbolism.  The artwork in the restaurant depicts a man in a keffiyeh, rowing toward the U.S. Capitol with a two-finger “victory” salute and a Palestinian flag amid rubble. There are people who have résumés we might call “diverse” or “wide-ranging.” And then there are people like Mike Huckabee who, at age 69, has seemingly crammed several lifetimes' worth of careers into one. He was a televangelist. He was governor of Arkansas for over a decade. He ran for president and won the Iowa caucuses. He hosted his own show on Fox News for seven years. He's written books on everything from Christmas to weight loss. And now he's America's ambassador to Israel. And he's filling that post at a moment when the longtime status quo in the region is being completely upended. Israel is inching closer to eradicating Hamas in Gaza—but the day-after plan is unclear. Iran is feared to be on the cusp of developing nuclear weapons, and Trump and Steve Witkoff are working hard on a renewed Iran nuclear deal. Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, and even Syria, could normalize relations with Israel. But Islamist terror groups are trying to derail any attempts at lasting peace. And American adversaries like China and Russia are trying to take advantage of any instability in the region. Suffice it to say, it's a time of great uncertainty. Meanwhile, Huckabee is in some way redefining what it means to be Israel's ambassador. He's been outspoken in criticizing inaccurate press accounts about the conflict, and he's been ardent in his support of the Jewish state. And while most ambassadors exist behind the scenes, Mike Huckabee has been in front of the cameras, making the case for Israel and its war with Hamas directly to Americans. It could even be argued that he's making a better case for Israel than the Israeli government itself. So today on Honestly, Ambassador Huckabee and I discuss all of that and more—the rise of antisemitism in the U.S. and the West more broadly, the future of America's involvement in the Middle East, and the fight between doves and hawks in Trump's 2.0 presidency. One final note: This interview ended abruptly. The ambassador took a call from Israel, and at 10 p.m., the rocket sirens blared and he had 90 seconds to get to the shelter. It's something normalized in Israeli life. Talk to any parents, and they'll talk about having to wake their kids up several times a week because of these sirens. But it also serves as a constant reminder of the persistent threat Israel faces—and not just from Hamas.  There were so many other great things I wanted to ask him about—particularly the right's antisemitism. As he did in this first presidential term, President Trump has continued to signal closer alignment with Vladimir Putin. This included a tense February Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where he claimed Ukraine was responsible for the war.   The U.S. also joined Russia in voting against a UN resolution condemning Russia's action in Ukraine and Vice President Vance has called for a re-evaluation of the U.S.'s relationship with NATO. Could these actions, and others, help chart a return to a state of improved U.S.-Russia diplomatic relations or lead America toward defeat in the region and beyond? Those who argue that Trump's actions signal a return to normalcy say that European security should be Europe's responsibility, which could lead to a stronger, more self-sufficient NATO, and that recent years of antagonism have failed to alter Russian behavior. The Washington Monthly called him as “one of America's most important journalists.” The Portland Oregonian said his work equals the original muckrakers: Ida Tarbell, Upton Sinclair and Lincoln Steffens. Johnston met Donald Trump in 1988 and in April 1990 revealed that Trump's was no billionaire. When Trump announced his latest run for the White House in June 2015, Johnston was the only nationally-known journalist who immediately said Trump was serious this time and might get the GOP nomination. His reporting over the next year led to the Making of Donald Trump, published around the world in English and German on August 2, 2016, by Melville House. The San Jose Mercury recruited Johnston when he was just 18 years old because of his reporting for two small weekly newspapers in Santa Cruz, Calif. At age 19 The Mercury hired him as a staff writer. Within weeks his byline made the front page.
