On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, the ruling class elitists in Europe and America betrayed their countries by refusing honest debate about uncontrolled immigration of Islamists. These elites encouraged and allowed overwhelming border surges, motivated partly by Islamist strategies to conquer the West. In the U.S., Democrats pursued open borders, try to defund enforcement like ICE to build a future voting base of illegal immigrants. Islamists will vote Democrat temporarily before ultimately destroying both parties and taking over, as seen in parts of Europe, NYC, and Dearborn. The NYC terrorist attack is an example: two young Muslim men, inspired by ISIS, attempted to bomb an anti-Islamist protest, shouting "Allahu Akbar" but the devices failed. Mainstream media and Democrats downplayed or obscured the Islamist terrorist motive, framing it vaguely as devices at an anti-Muslim rally, condemning Islamophobia instead, and avoiding the truth of a near-mass-casualty jihadist attack, which the speaker sees as part of a broader pattern of cover-up by media and elites who tolerate or support such threats. Also, the Iranian regime is not finished off. Let's stick with the plan. Condition-based operations. The media and the Democrats will howl like coyotes no matter what. Any economic impact will be temporary. But the worst outcome would be a prematurely declare victory and the Iranian regime lives to slaughter and nuke another day. Later, the SAVE America act is a no brainer and Democrats desperately oppose it because they benefit from fraudulent practices enabled by big-city political machines. Sen Chuck Schumer acts like a modern George Wallace by insisting everyone should vote—not just legal voters—allowing illegal ballots, double voting, or votes for the deceased to neutralize legitimate votes. Much of this fraud is allegedly legalized, making proof difficult and necessitating stricter statutes like voter ID requirements. Finally, Mort Klein, National President of the Zionist Organization of America, calls in and explains that that the United States would need to confront and attack Iran even without Israel's existence, due to nearly 50 years of direct hostility toward America. This operation must continue to dismantle the regime, protect American lives, prevent nuclear acquisition, and support Iranians desiring freedom, marking the end of past U.S. policies of delay and concessions. For seventy years, the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull was celebrated as proof of a lost ancient civilization — a relic so perfectly crafted that Hewlett-Packard's own scientists said it shouldn't exist — and every word of the story behind it was a lie.*No AI Voices Are Used In The Narration Of This Podcast*IN THIS EPISODE: Does the mysterious ancient “Crystal Skull of Doom” really have mystical, paranormal properties? (The Student In The Cafeteria) *** It's amazing the extraordinary lengths our world leaders will go to in order to cover up reports of alien aircraft sightings and the like. (UFOs: When Governments Come Clean) *** A woman wake up to discover her husband has disappeared from the bed and she can't find him. 1. The State of the Iran Conflict The U.S. is in week two of a war with Iran, claiming major military success Iran’s missile and drone capabilities have been nearly eliminated. Iran’s navy has been almost entirely destroyed. The U.S. is using overwhelming force, rapid strikes, and no gradual escalation. 2. U.S. Objectives (as framed in the discussion) The stated goals of “Operation Epic Fury”: Destroy Iran's missile stockpiles, launchers, and weapons manufacturing. Destroy Iran’s navy. Permanently prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. 3. Justification for War Iran has been at war with the U.S. for 47 years, funding terrorism (Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis). Iran attempted to assassinate former President Trump and other U.S. officials (Bolton, O’Brien, etc.). This war is described as “America-first,” not about Israel, and responds to direct threats against Americans. 4. Political Framing & Criticism of Opponents Democrats are: Confused in their messaging. Trying to politicize gas prices. Accusing Trump of being manipulated by Israel. Media personalities (notably Tucker Carlson) are heavily criticized for: Alleged pro‑Islamist, anti‑Israel, anti‑American rhetoric. Being amplified by foreign adversaries (Iran, Russia, Muslim Brotherhood). 5. Foreign Influence Qatar is: Funding U.S. universities with $6.6 billion. Supporting Hamas. Influencing American academic and political spheres. 6. Economic Effects Gas prices have risen during the conflict. The increase is temporary. Prices are still much lower than under Biden. If Iran’s regime collapses, oil prices may drop significantly. 7. Vision of the Endgame The conflict will be short, decisive, and not like Iraq or Afghanistan. Expectations: No long-term occupation. No large-scale troop deployment. Focused destruction of hostile infrastructure. Confidence that the Iranian regime might collapse, leading to a more stable region without prolonged war. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, for the media, and now for most politicians, what's most important is not winning this war against Iran AND ensuring it's not replaced by another monstrous regime, but the price of gasoline on a daily basis. If this military campaign is ended prematurely, and the second phase of ensuring the institution of a civil government is not accomplished, chances are this entire effort will be for naught. The economic, geo-political, and national security gains, which have been immense, and the stated goal of liberating the Iranian people, which initiated this process, could become a disaster in every respect -- including political. After we destroyed the Japanese regime in WWII, the U.S. wrote their constitution and installed a government that would be aligned with us. We must give very focused thought to what comes after the Iranian regime's navy, air force, missiles, and top leadership are destroyed. It still has a standing army, secret police, and an entire Islamist-supporting infrastructure. There are many approaches to dealing with this short of a democracy project or sending hundreds of thousands of soldiers. But to be clear, if a void is created and left there, and we do not fill it (perhaps with our allies) or significantly influence how it is tilled, it most definitely will be filled by the forces in Iran that remain from the old regime with the support of their allies, including China and Russia. Also, polls show that 91% approve of President Trump's handling of the Iran situation among MAGA supporters and 83% among Republicans. Since Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Steve Bannon, and Candace Owens opposed this military campaign, their audience must largely consist of leftists, anti-Semites, foreigners, Islamists, Marxists, and Democrats. Later, Democrats fiercely oppose voter ID requirements, particularly photo IDs, despite broad public support across all races. Photo IDs are routinely required for everyday activities, yet Democrats claim they are too difficult to obtain, especially for Black people and married women, which is inherently racist and condescending. Without photo ID verification, there is no reliable way to confirm a voter's identity, prevent double voting, or stop impersonation, particularly in the 11 states (mostly Democratic) that do not require any ID. Finally, Dr James Lindsay calls in and argues that efforts to drive a wedge between Jews and Christians, and to redefine Americanism, stem from multiple interconnected motives. Primarily, opponents of President Trump are now attempting to weaken him and his agenda from within by fracturing his coalition. This includes pushing the Republican Party toward a more radical, identity-based politics inspired by failed European conservatism, moving away from the traditional American ideal of equal citizenship regardless of background. Influencers driving these narratives are motivated by a mix of genuine ideological commitment to paleoconservative or Buchanan-style views, financial incentives like chasing clicks, payments, bot amplification, and foreign boosting, all converging to reorganize the Republican Party and sever U.S.-Israel ties to diminish America's global defensive posture. Recently a surprising ruling came down from U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth. The Reagan-appointed judge found that Kari Lake - (formerly best known as the loser of two state-wide races in Arizona), had acted unlawfully in running the United States Agency for Global Media, the body that oversees Voice of America and the handful of other government-assisted media outlets. Kari Lake, wrote the judge "satisfies the requirements of neither the statute nor the Constitution," potentially making all of her actions this past year null and void. Lake, who once described herself to a gaggle of reporters as "your worst fricking nightmare" told NPR that she would appeal the ruling. Last spring February when Lake started slashing and burning the 80-year old service, Micah spoke to Nicole Hemmer, a historian at Vanderbilt University to learn about the history the VOA. More To The Story: In January, the federal government released updated dietary guidelines for Americans that reimagine the nation's longtime food pyramid by literally turning it upside down. The guidelines, which once prioritized foods like grains while minimizing fats, now recommend red meat, whole milk, proteins, and healthy fats. It's one of the most unmistakable ways that US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has brought the Make America Healthy Again movement into the federal government. Over the last year, RFK Jr. has reshaped the country's vaccine advisory committee with vaccine skeptics, fired thousands of employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health, and revised the CDC's stance on the unfounded link between vaccines and autism. The moves, often influenced and cheered by folks in the MAHA movement, are ones that infectious disease epidemiologist Jessica Malaty Rivera says are not merely misguided, but dangerous. On this week's More To The Story, Rivera examines how Big Ag has influenced the nation's latest dietary guidelines, whether the US is on the cusp of a national measles outbreak, and why the CDC dropping vaccine recommendations could have potentially long-term and deadly consequences.Producer: Josh Sanburn | Editor: Kara McGuirk-Allison | Theme music: Fernando Arruda and Jim Briggs | Copy editor: Nikki Frick | Digital producer: Artis Curiskis | Deputy executive producer: Taki Telonidis | Executive producer: Brett Myers | Executive editor: James West | Host: Al LetsonRead: Measles Cases This Year Near 1,000. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has acknowledged that the SAVE Act, which requires proof of citizenship for voter registration in federal elections, faces significant hurdles in the Senate due to the current filibuster rules. He stated plainly, “The votes aren't there” to pass it through a marathon talking filibuster, as demanded by some to force Democrats to hold the floor indefinitely. Thune further explained, “The votes aren't there, one, to nuke the filibuster, and the votes aren't there for a talking filibuster,” emphasizing the lack of support to change Senate procedures or override opposition. Americans who support securing elections and restoring the traditional talking filibuster for greater transparency should politely call Senator Thune's office at (202) 224-2321 today and urge him to lead on passing the SAVE Act while mandating real, on-the-floor debate — no more silent blocks! It's 311 Day, which means the show kicks off with some love for the band 311 and the strange realization that half the crew's spouses might secretly have a crush on Nick Hexum. Totally normal. From there, things escalate quickly — because nothing says morning radio like overthinking how you walk past a cop in a parking garage at 3:30AM while trying to look “not suspicious.” Spoiler: the more you try to look innocent, the guiltier you probably look. Then the crew dives into one of the wildest tech-meets-legal stories we've heard in a while. An Illinois woman decided she didn't need a real attorney anymore and replaced them with ChatGPT. What could go wrong? Turns out… a lot. The AI helped her flood the courts with legal filings that basically didn't exist in real law, costing a company hundreds of thousands of dollars just to respond. It sparks a bigger discussion about how far people are pushing AI into real-life decisions — including using it for medical advice instead of calling an actual doctor.Speaking of health, the gang discovers just how many health tracking apps people have on their phones now. Lauren proudly reveals she has thirteen, which feels less like “wellness” and more like running a personal medical command center from your pocket. Meanwhile, some of us are still operating on the “if my arm goes numb I'll deal with it then” method. The show also tackles a genius business move by a group of Girl Scouts who set up a cookie booth outside a marijuana dispensary. The sales were legendary… but the Girl Scouts organization wasn't exactly thrilled. Apparently entrepreneurship has limits when it involves Thin Mints and customers leaving with the munchies. And finally, the crew looks at a new study ranking the happiest cities in America. Let's just say the results were… not great for St. Louis. Like, really not great. The conversation spirals into why some towns exist in the first place, how railroad cities were built, and the strange history behind places that make you wonder: “Who looked at this swamp and said… yeah, this is where we live now.”Basically, it's another chaotic morning hanging out with the crew — weird stories, questionable life advice, and plenty of laughs along the way. If you like sarcasm, strange news, and conversations that somehow start with a band holiday and end with frontier settlement theories, this comedy podcast has you covered. Thanks for listening to the show every day — whether you catch it on the radio, online, or right here on the comedy podcast feed.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Welcome back to another week, my beautiful Roaches. I know many of you are concerned about the state of the world right now, so let's all agree that a sense of normalcy is important in these trying times. Do you remember the children's book, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"? That title also sums up what most Americans think about Trump's new war with Iran. Kaitlyn explains why the war is immoral based on Christian theology, Phil channels Ezra Klein to define America's new "heads on pikes" foreign policy, and Skye says the war fits Donald Trump's long pattern of laziness and impatience. Then, Preston Sprinkle is back to discuss his latest book, "From Genesis to Junia," about his journey to determine what the Bible really says about women in leadership. Also this week, Americans were the only people in a worldwide survey to say most of their fellow citizens are bad people. Plus, some happy puppy news. The White House has been brazenly lying about the Minab school massacre, where American Tomahawk missiles killed 167 girls aged 7-12, as Trump and his officials falsely claim Iran bombed its own children—a claim Trump made that even Pete Hegseth refused to fully endorse. Jimmy and Americans' Comedian Kurt Metzger highlight the grotesque hypocrisy of U.S. and Israeli officials who justify civilian deaths by accusing Iran of using "human shields," while Israel's own Mossad headquarters sits in a residential Tel Aviv neighborhood and its military operates command centers beneath hospitals. Jimmy also contrasts the warmongering of exiled Iranians in Los Angeles who cheer for U.S. troops to die "freeing" a country they fled, with the reality that America is now bombing civilian infrastructure like water desalination plants—a clear war crime. The segment concludes with the devastating images of the murdered schoolgirls, underscoring that the U.S. is led by "child-slaughtering demons" who kill children abroad while pretending to care about human rights. Plus segments on Trump stating that the Iran war is "over" and Israel's false flag attack on Turkey. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Benjamin Netanyahu!

For centuries the western Norse colony of Vinland was known only to scholars of the Icelandic Sagas. But in the 19th century the work of a few Scandinavian historians helped revive interest in these previously obscure tales. When the Danish historian Carl Christian Rafn published in his work in English in 1837, many American's were exposed to the idea that the Norse had beaten Columbus to North America by 500 years. Many New Englanders were also excited by the idea that the legendary colony of Vinland may have been in Cape Cod. However, this new interest in the American Vikings also kicked off a wave of Norse flavored forgeries. Some were inspired to create elaborate pseudo-histories that supplanted the America's true first people with a lost group of Norse settlers. The real history of the Norse in North America was soon clouded by a haze of hoaxes and fantasies. Tune-in and find out how runes in Minnesota, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Newfoundlander named George all play a role in the story.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
March 1, 1932. East Amwell Township, New Jersey. 20-month old Charles Lindbergh Jr., the son of renowned aviator Charles Lindbergh, is abducted from his crib in the nursery of his home and a note is left behind demanding a $50,000 ransom for the baby's safe return. Even though the ransom is eventually paid out to an unidentified man at a cemetery in the Bronx, the child is not returned and his body is found in a wooded area located just over four miles from the Lindbergh residence. His cause of death is a fractured skull and it is believed that he was killed on the very same night he was kidnapped. Over two years later, a suspect named Bruno Richard Hauptmann is charged, convicted and executed for the child's murder. However, some people believe that Hauptmann was railroaded and even though nearly a century has passed, there is still a lot of controversy and debate surrounding one of the most famous cases of all time. To commemorate the milestone of our ten-year anniversary as a podcast, “The Trail Went Cold” will be presenting our very first special four-part episode and exploring the crime known as the “Lindbergh Baby Kidnapping”. During our first three episodes, we shared all the relevant facts and numerous theories surrounding the case and in our final chapter this week, Part Four, we will be providing our own personal analysis to determine where we believe Bruno Richard Hauptmann was actually guilty of this crime or if the real perpetrator got away with it or if the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) says he believes in “protecting the power of the Senate” by keeping the filibuster as President Trump continues to pressure Republicans to eliminate it and pass the SAVE Act. Political Strategy and Voter Dependency The author claims the Democratic Party maintains power by: Encouraging reliance on government benefits, Using “free stuff” to secure votes, Keeping people in poverty cycles instead of enabling upward mobility. 6. Trump’s Threat to the Democratic Base The text argues Democrats targeted Trump politically because: He was reducing minority unemployment to record lows, Potentially shifting traditional Democratic voting blocs, COVID‑19 disrupted that progress and altered political dynamics. 7. Education as a Control Mechanism: Democratic-led cities have failing school systems, Poor education ensures future dependency on government, Empowered, well‑educated children are more likely to become politically independent. 8. Government Programs as Leverage Policies such as Obamacare are described as tools for political control by making voters fear losing essential services. Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico was pitched as the moderate option yet can't seem to stop shilling for the Left's most controversial social topics. Let's see what he said about trans kids. The Iran War is over. Or it isn't. Or it mostly is, but there's still some of it? We're not sure. Let's see what they're saying. Some people did some thing over the weekend. A Muslim terrorist lobbed a bomb that luckily didn't go off. Western civilization has been dealing with Muslim terrorism for decades, which just goes to show: Islam is incompatible with the West. What If Everything You've Achieved Still Isn't Enough to Make You Happy? Today's conversation with Mike Posner is one of the deepest and most powerful discussions I've ever had on this show. You probably know Mike from his massive hits like Cooler Than Me and I Took a Pill in Ibiza. But the man sitting across from me today isn't just a Grammy nominated artist. He's climbed Mount Everest, walked more than 2,900 miles across America, survived a rattlesnake bite, and gone through a profound spiritual and emotional transformation that completely changed his life. Mike shared something that stopped me in my tracks early in this conversation. He said that despite all the success, the money, the recognition, and the adventure, his greatest achievement wasn't any of those things. It was changing his emotional set point from depression and negativity to joy, faith, and love. That shift didn't happen because of fame or accomplishments. It happened when he finally stopped lying to himself about the fears and stories that were running his life. We talked about something so many people struggle with but rarely admit. The pursuit of recognition and significance. Mike was honest about how much of his early career was fueled by the desire to be liked and validated by others. And if we're honest, most of us do the same thing in our own lives. What makes this conversation so powerful is how Mike explains the transformation from chasing significance to living a life of service, contribution, and authentic connection. One of the most powerful moments came when Mike shared the four questions that helped him turn his life around. Questions that forced him to stop drifting and start living intentionally. Questions like “Do you actually want to live?” and “What do you truly want?” These questions sound simple, but they have the power to completely change the direction of your life if you answer them honestly. What I love about Mike's story is that he's proof that external success does not guarantee internal peace. But he's also proof that you can change your internal state, rewrite the story you're telling yourself, and build a life that is rich both internally and externally. This conversation is about awakening. It's about purpose. And it's about learning how to live a life that truly feels worth living. Key Takeaways • Why changing your emotional set point may be the most important achievement of your life • The dangerous trap of chasing recognition and significance instead of real love • How the stories you tell yourself quietly shape your entire reality • The four life changing questions that can help you rediscover purpose and direction • Why success without inner fulfillment still leaves you feeling empty • How shifting from seeking validation to serving others transforms your life

Today's episode begins with a breakdown of the Justice Department's about-face on four cases brought after Trump targeted several law firms through executive action. As Mary and Andrew discussed last week – they initially dropped their appeal of the decisions against sanctioning these firms, only to reverse course the next day, topped off with a new court filing Friday appealing the rulings. Next, the co-hosts review a pair of decisions: one out of Minnesota's district court concerning the state's immigration surge, which determined the stopping and subsequent arrests of the case's plaintiffs was a result of racial profiling. The second decision comes from U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, who ruled Kari Lake's oversight of Voice of America unlawful and illegitimate. Last up, Mary and Andrew detail Attorney General Pam's Bondi's proposed rule that would put any state complaint against a justice department lawyer on hold while the DOJ reviews it, essentially giving the department the power to hold these indefinitely if they so choose. Further reading: Here is Mary's recent piece on MS Now detailing the DOJ's shift on appealing several law firm decisions: What's exposed by the Justice Department's reversal on Trump's campaign against law firms. Every lawyer knows that the federal court rulings were correct and that the president's executive orders are legally indefensible. If you woke up today thinking, “I hope the radio talks about 80s one-hit wonders, violent house party drama, ranch dressing, and Mario… all in the same show,” then congratulations — your oddly specific wish has been granted. The gang kicks off the morning falling down a nostalgic rabbit hole about the classic song “Tarzan Boy.” What starts as a simple music memory quickly turns into a surprisingly tragic backstory about the band behind it, proving that even upbeat jungle pop can turn into a history lesson before 6 a.m.But things take a turn when the conversation shifts to severe weather heading for St. Louis. The crew breaks down storm warnings, tornado risks, and how spring weather in the Midwest can go from beautiful patio vibes to “maybe keep the weather radio nearby” real fast. Then the show dives into a local story that sounds like it was written by the writers of a crime comedy. A mom searching for her daughters shows up at a house party at 3 a.m., gets into a fight with the 19-year-old host, and somehow the situation escalates to a gunshot. The crew debates who's right, who's wrong, and whether anyone in the story made even one good decision.Meanwhile, Lauren vents about one of the most backhanded insults on earth: “You look tired.” The debate quickly spirals into morning-show therapy as everyone shares the weirdest comments strangers have ever made about their appearance.Other chaos in this episode includes:The bizarre story behind Moon's new cat name dramaThe strange legacy of a burlesque legend that shocked everyone in the roomThe crew arguing about the correct way to eat peanut butterThe surprising ranking of St. Louis as one of America's best beer citiesWhy ranch dressing may secretly be the most powerful condiment in the countryAnd why hosting a house party is one of the most stressful things you can do as a teenagerBasically, it's another perfectly normal morning for a daily comedy show that thrives on ridiculous stories, sarcastic commentary, and the kind of conversations that somehow go from weather warnings to peanut butter spoon snacks in record time.If you love weird news, hilarious debates, and pop culture nonsense from a crew that roasts each other as much as the world around them, this episode delivers the goods.Welcome back to your favorite daily comedy show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
How is the war with Iran impacting global oil prices—and could the Strait of Hormuz trigger the next energy crisis? In this episode, Lisa sits down with former U.S. Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette to break down the extreme volatility in the oil markets, the risks facing global shipping, and how energy traders are trying to price uncertainty during a geopolitical conflict. Brouillette explains why oil prices surged from the mid-$70s to $120 in just hours, how the Trump administration’s proposed $20 billion tanker insurance backstop could stabilize shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, and why the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is at a dangerously low level. He also reflects on how deregulation during the Trump administration helped make the United States a net energy exporter and what that means for energy security today. The conversation also explores the global implications of bringing Venezuelan oil back into the market, China’s reliance on discounted energy, and how geopolitical shifts could reshape the world’s energy supply. Plus, Brouillette discusses the massive power demand coming from AI and data centers, why nuclear energy may be the key to meeting future electricity needs, and how cybersecurity and quantum computing could transform energy infrastructure. Topics covered include: Why oil prices are swinging wildly during the Iran conflict The strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz Trump’s tanker insurance plan and global shipping risks The state of the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve Energy independence and deregulation under the Trump administration Venezuelan oil and China’s discounted energy supply The massive energy demand from AI and data centers Why nuclear power could be critical for America’s energy future A must-listen for anyone following energy markets, geopolitics, oil prices, and the future of global energy security.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Electronic Medical Records have transformed the way we practice health care, making patient data readily accessible to health care providers, facilitating collaboration within and across large medical teams, increasing transparency, and drastically improving the legibility of patient charts and prescriptions. But despite these benefits, many physicians cite the electronic medical record as a primary driver of burnout, pointing to the overwhelming volume of documentation it requires. In this episode, we explore how the launch of EMRs within the context of America's predominantly fee-for-service health care system led to the technology falling short of its promise — and how transitioning to value-based care models might redeem the technology, revitalize physicians, and recenter public health. Our guest on this episode is Farzad Mostashari, MD. After completing a degree in public health at Harvard, medical school at Yale, and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Mostashari spent over a decade working in public health: first for the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service and then for the New York City Department of Health. From 2009 to 2011, he served as the National Coordinator for Health IT at the Department of Health and Human Services where he helped oversee the nationwide transition from paper to electronic medical records. In 2014, he founded Aledade, a company that helps primary care physicians form value-based care networks in the US. Over the course of our conversation, Dr. Mostashari shares how his childhood in Iran pushed him towards public health, how his experience watching his father being cared for in the hospital drove him towards medicine, and how he has spent his career in the liminal space between public health and medicine. We discuss the rollout of EMRs, and how fee-for-service payment models led to EMRs being optimized for documentation rather than patient care. We explore how value-based care not only solves the problem of over-documentation, but also better aligns the goals of patients, physicians, and even insurance companies. Dr. Mostashari maps out the progress we have made toward this kind of model and the hurdles we have to clear before we have a system that incentivizes preventing stroke as much as treating stroke. In this episode, you'll hear about: 3:35 - How Dr. Mostashari became drawn to the intersection between the intimate work of doctoring and the wide lens work of public health. 12:12 - Dr. Mostashari's experiences modernizing health IT systems and learning to optimize for the number of lives saved rather than the number of technological solutions implemented.16:05 - Dr. Mostashari's assessment of the rollout of the electronic medical record in the US.25:09 - How Aledade frees primary care physicians to prioritize patient outcomes and reduces the burden of EMR documentation.38:57 - What the US can learn from international health care systems. 41:00 - Challenges in transitioning to outcome-based models of primary care.50:30 - How Dr. Mostashari's medical training has shaped his career in public health. My guest today is Shyam Sankar, the CTO of Palantir Technologies. In this conversation, we explore the ideas that shape how Shyam thinks about technology, talent, and national power. We discuss the origins of Palantir's forward-deployed engineering model and the lessons he learned from Alex Karp about identifying people's "superpowers". We also talk about Shyam's fascination with the "heretics" of American history, the unconventional builders who challenged bureaucracy and created many of the systems that powered America's military and industrial success. Shyam argues that the United States must reindustrialize after decades of moving production overseas, and explains what we can learn from America's industrial past. In a new Colossus profile, our Editor in Chief Jeremy Stern tells the story of how Shyam became one of the most important but largely unseen figures behind Palantir, tracing his journey from immigrant roots to employee #13 and the architect of the company's success and distinctive culture.
