La Tornade is now touching down in Pittsburgh, PA with the Penguins. Two things can be true. Thing one: Brett's been the biggest defender of Sammy G there is. Poor guy has caught TONS of unnecessary arrows over the years, and he's made a big impact on his team. Thing two: it was time to move on. This trade will be better for everyone involved in the long run. 33:27 - Kaner doesn't think the Avs are done wheeling and dealing yet. Trading Sammy G freed up a good chunk of cap space, so he thinks other moves are on the horizon. After that, Broncos fans are over the moon about Davis Webb taking over offensive playcalling! They're acting like the Broncos offense will suddenly turn into that prolific 2013 offense overnight. It's good that everyone has complete faith! But maybe ease off the gas a bit. The Kouri Richins murder trial opened in Park City's Summit County Courthouse, and Day 1 made one thing clear — this is going to be a five-week war over who Kouri Richins really is.Prosecutor Brad Bloodworth came out with a devastating digital trail. Three memes allegedly accessed on Kouri's phone the morning Eric's body was wheeled out — including one reading "I'm rich" — while their three sons waited upstairs, not yet told their father was dead. He laid out $4.5 million in alleged debt, over 200 overdrafted transactions, text messages to alleged boyfriend Josh Grossman about marriage and vacations, internet searches for luxury prisons, and a fifteen-minute gap between Kouri allegedly grabbing her phone and calling 911.Defense attorney Kathryn Nester fired back with Kouri's 911 call — sobbing and barely coherent — and told the jury they were witnessing a wife become a widow. She attacked Carmen Lauber, the prosecution's key witness, who allegedly never mentioned fentanyl in her initial police statement and only changed her story under threat of imprisonment. Lauber's own drug dealer later recanted in a sworn affidavit. No fentanyl was ever recovered from the home. The glasses from that night were never tested. The death certificate lists manner of death as unknown.Eric's sister Katie Richins-Benson gave the day's most gut-wrenching testimony — arriving at the house, watching Kouri shake her head, and falling to the floor. She described Kouri as calm, well-dressed, and allegedly focused on closing a multimillion-dollar real estate deal while the family broke down around her. The defense pushed back hard on Katie's four-year-old memories and the family's six-figure investment in a private investigator hired to build a case against Kouri.The battle lines are drawn. https://teachhoops.com/ The decision to run set plays at the youth level is one of the most debated topics in coaching. Many coaches fall into the "Command and Control" trap, scripting every movement to ensure the ball gets to the best player. However, heavy reliance on set plays often leads to "Robotic Play." When young athletes are focused solely on "getting to a spot," they stop reading the defense, watching the ball, or understanding the geometry of the court. At the youth level, your primary goal is to build Basketball IQ and Decision-Making. While one or two simple sets can provide a "safety net" for a nervous team, the bulk of your offensive "menu" should be built on conceptual motion that teaches players how to play, not where to stand. The most effective way to transition away from rigid plays is through "Conceptual Frameworks" like the "3-Out, 2-In" or "5-Out" Motion. Instead of a 15-step play, give your players simple "If-Then" rules: "If I pass, then I must cut or screen away." or "If my teammate drives, then I must find an open window." This "Constraint-Based" teaching allows players to develop their own "feel" for the game. In practice, use "Small-Sided Games" (2-on-2 or 3-on-3) to drill these concepts. When a player successfully reads a back-door cut because their defender overplayed the pass, they are learning a skill that will last their entire career—unlike a set play that might only work for one season. Finally, if you do choose to run set plays, ensure they are "Universal Sets"—plays that teach multiple skills simultaneously. For example, a simple "Box" or "Stack" out-of-bounds play can teach timing, screening angles, and triple-threat positioning. As the season progresses into the "mid-season grind," evaluate your offensive efficiency: Are you scoring because the play worked, or because your players made a great read? By prioritizing autonomy and skill acquisition over scoreboard results in the short term, you develop resilient, high-IQ athletes who are prepared for the complexities of high school and collegiate basketball. Send a textI stumbled upon Patrick Gabridge on the World Wide Web, and he was kind enough to come on to the Playwright's Spotlight after reaching out to him. If there was a playwright who has been in the spotlight who might have a pathway to success, it would be Patrick Gabridge. With a non-traditional approach to writing, Patrick focuses on site-specific plays that are staged in non-traditional stages. Before we delve into this, we speak about marketing and his networking group - Playwright Submission Binge - and how the market has dwindled and changed over the years and how it has affected non-equity theatre. We discuss his development of Plays in Places and its historical accuracy and use of creative license, how it's opened doors to success, the Secret Sauce, and pitching to non-traditional venues. We also breakdown approaching Youth Plays as an older playwright, writing competition plays, what constitutes high drama and whether or not there is a formula. We wrap things up with achieving exposition in a 10-minute play, experiencing poor productions of one's work, advice for finding/developing a writers group, and networking with playwrights.
