Luis (aka Like Animals aka Fantomo) is a composer, drummer, and DJ. To box his music in the “electronic” genre would severely shortchange his art. More than putting together badass beats, he creates textures and atmospheres as an attempt to capture the essence of a place or emotion. Think along the lines of Amon Tobin or Jon Hopkins. In our conversation, we tackle the need for structure and discipline in the artist’s life, the evolution of style, work that sells versus work that’s honest, and the tension between contentment and creativity. Kris moved to Berlin one and a half years ago where he now makes a living building classical guitars while also inventing guitar accessories like supports and straps.
