So this is the original nature of Krsna, original nature of Krsna. He is Radha-Madhava. He is the lover of Srimati Radharani. And kunja-vihari, always enjoying the company of the gopis within the bushes of Vrdavana forest. Radha-madhava kunja-vihari. So He's not only lover of Radharani, but braja-jana-vallabha. The whole residents of Vrndavana, they love Krsna. They do not know anything else. They do not know whether Krsna is God or not, neither they are very much harassed that “I shall love Krsna if He is God.” “He may be God or He may be whatever He is. It doesn't matter, but we love Krsna, that's all. ” That is called unnalloyed love. “If Krsna is God, then I shall love Him”—this is conditional love. This is not pure love. Krsna may be God or whatever He may be, but by His wonderful acts, the Vrajavasi, they are thinking, “Oh Krsna, He is very wonderful child, maybe some demigod. Maybe some demigod.” Because people are generally under impression that the demigods are all-powerful. They're powerful within this material world. Excerpt from the answer: You could take Mahātmā Prabhu's seminar on how to forgive. Lots of people have spoken about forgiveness. Mahātmā Prabhu, in the devotee context talks about it. But one thing is, forgiving doesn't mean that you condone what people have done; forgiving is for you to let it go so that you can move on. Prabhupāda gave an instruction to Peter Burwash. He was a businessman who ran Peter Burwash International. It was a big, huge tennis company; it taught people how to play tennis. He was a devotee, but he never got initiated. In Hawaii, he got a lot of association with Prabhupāda. He signed up as a life member one afternoon, and the next morning, he found out that the devotee he gave his money to had absconded. He became so disturbed and angry, and he went to talk to Prabhupāda about it. Prabhupāda gave him this instruction that he kept for the rest of his life. He used to give seminars and he would always start with this instruction that Prabhupāda said, "Don't be angry with the instrument of your karma." And he took it to heart. So if one takes whatever happens—it doesn't mean, of course, you don't do due diligence. If somebody has abused you or is bullying you, you have to do your due diligence. It doesn't mean to become a doormat to forgive, but internally, one can become highly philosophical and think that 'whatever comes to me, it's by Kṛṣṇa's arrangement. Perhaps I'm paying back a debt from my last life,' and Kṛṣṇa gives this permission, or the śāstra does, to take it as a lesson and just let it go. So it takes a little practice and some philosophical underpinning. Rebecca is on a mission to empower more people to grow more plants in more places while cultivating empathy, compassion, and advocacy for the natural world. We last heard from Rebecca here on CP in 2021, and a lot has happened in her growing life since then! Rebecca is an ecologically obsessed horticulturist and garden designer. She lives in the woods of Connecticut, writing, lecturing, and designing gardens. She is a public servant, dedicated to bringing beauty and biodiversity to all corners of our cities. Her TED Talk has been viewed more than a million times. She has a widely read monthly Full Moon Newsletter, "Grow Like Wild," sharing forward ecological horticulture research around the world, general horticultural dismay, and growing “gossip,” as she likes to say, all of which you can subscribe to on Substack as writing and, now, a podcast version as well.  Prior to all this, Rebecca spent a decade as Director of Horticulture of Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she managed 85 acres of diverse parkland organically and with an eye towards habitat creation for birds, butterflies, and soil microorganisms. The other thing that Asita Kṛṣṇa Mahārāja said that I've been thinking about a lot lately, is some of the devotees who say Śrīla Prabhupāda only gave us the ABCs. It hurts my heart. I was here for three weeks. We read the Madhya-līlā, of the Caitanya-caritāmṛta. And if anyone has read that, or read the purports that Śrīla Prabhupāda wrote, they could never, ever say such an offensive thing. Prabhupāda gave us everything, and it's up to us to purify our hearts so that we can understand it. When you read the pastimes in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Kṛṣṇa dāsa Kavirāja speaks about it, "according to the level of the devotees who participated in the pastimes, they could understand or they could see." So Prabhupāda said, and I believe that, and I now believe it even more firmly: 'I have given you everything. Everything is in my books,' if we have faith in that, and we read Śrīla Prabhupāda's books, and we read them together. That was the other nice thing about being here. During those readings, we discuss, we ask questions, we unpack, and it's so helpful for for me, as you know, as as an individual, pretty dull-headed, to hear the realizations and the questions that the others bring up. It's absolutely wonderful! If you have facility in your communities to start reading groups, if you don't already have them, I fully support that, because it really helps us to come close to Prabhupāda, to understand Śrīla Prabhupāda, what he has done for us by taking the time. He didn't sleep much, he traveled the world, and still he gave us these purports, translated these books, managed a movement—a fledgling movement of teenagers and twenty-something-year-olds who had come with no Vedic training, no training at all, pretty much, you know, as we heard about the apple or the date. We didn't, we didn't have the basic training. But everything I have, everything I am, it's Śrīla Prabhupāda's mercy. And I know that many, or all of you feel the same way. My whole life, Śrīla Prabhupāda gave me. So I'm grateful. I have so much gratitude, and I'm working to have even more gratitude, because it's unfathomable what Śrīla Prabhupāda has given me. When a pair of high-profile internet outages took down large chunks of the internet last month, the events briefly brought hundreds of organizations to a near-halt and prevented millions of users from accessing core services for everyday business needs. From Starbucks to crypto exchanges to the messaging app Signal, the outages rippled across nearly every sector, shining a spotlight onto the country's — and even the government's — reliance on a mere handful of cloud service providers. In the wake of those incidents, watchdog groups are calling on federal regulators to scrutinize the role that massive cloud companies like Amazon and Microsoft play in owning and maintaining much of our collective backend IT infrastructure. Meanwhile, technology and cybersecurity experts point out that, because of financial and business realities, there are very few alternatives to the large companies that now dominate the market. The Amazon Web Services outage began Oct. 19 and lasted into Oct. 20. According to Amazon's post-mortem, a single software bug in DynamoDB — the system that manages website addresses, along with efforts to repair it — caused all services in the Northern Virginia region that relied on the tool to go down for 15 hours. Just over a week later, Microsoft's Azure cloud platform experienced an outage impacting several of its services. According to Microsoft, an “inadvertent tenant configuration change” occurred in Azure Front Door, the company's content delivery network. The outages exposed just how fragile the country's digital infrastructure is and showed the risks of letting a few companies hold so much power. As a result, some groups are urging federal regulators to address the issue. Federal agencies would be required to report artificial intelligence-related layoffs to the Department of Labor under a new bill from a bipartisan pair of senators. The AI-Related Job Impacts Clarity Act from Sens. Mark Warner, D-Va., and Josh Hawley, R-Mo., calls on agencies and major companies to deliver quarterly reports to DOL on the impact AI has on their workforces, detailing job cuts and displacements. Hawley said in a press release“Artificial intelligence is already replacing American workers, and experts project AI could drive unemployment up to 10-20% in the next five years. The American people need to have an accurate understanding of how AI is affecting our workforce, so we can ensure that AI works for the people, not the other way around.” The bill would also require agencies and companies to report hirings that can be “substantially” credited to AI, as well as the number of individuals they are retraining because of AI. These are the potency of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and so we are part of Caitanya Mahāprabhu's mission. We're very fortunate to be His representatives. If you cultivate knowledge of who Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is by hearing again and again the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Kavirāja Goswami says, if you hear it and you don't understand it, then hear it again, and again and again till you understand. And the effect is that we enter into that Līlā ourselves, and when we understand Kṛṣṇa by His grace, by hearing about Him, we become blissful, and we also become effectual in presenting Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu to others. Why is He so important? Because it's very difficult to approach Kṛṣṇa, but Caitanya Mahāprabhu is Kṛṣṇa, but He comes as a devotee, and He makes Himself available, so that if anybody worships Him, tīrthāspadaṁ śiva-viriñci-nutaṁ śaraṇyam bhṛtyārti-haṁ praṇata-pāla bhavābdhi-potaṁ (SB 11.5.33) His lotus feet are the sum total of all the holy places. And if one serves Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and how does one do that? Join the saṅkīrtana movement, which is like an ocean. As the Office of Personnel Management makes progress toward a long-pursued goal to move the government's paper-based retirement system into the 21st century, its director said a “fully automated” process is about six months away. OPM Director Scott Kupor said in an interview with FedScoop: “That's not going to happen overnight.” But, Kupor said he believes the agency can get there within six months “for sure.” The human capital agency hit a milestone in May with the launch of its Online Retirement Application, operationalizing a yearslong development effort and marking the end of paper file submissions. Yet behind the scenes at OPM, there's still much work to do to bring about a truly automated process. Though the application submissions are now online, humans still currently check the information coming in to make sure they've been completed properly and manually key in information into a calculator in “a significant number of cases,” Kupor said. That introduces “a huge amount of delay in the system” and is something the agency is working to fix. The aim is to ultimately have a system where the retiree, human resources, and the payroll provider all submit their information online and route that package electronically — not to a person in the agency's retirement services division, but to a Digital File System that can fill in the application and do the calculations, Kupor said. Under that future process, he said, all individuals at OPM will be doing is reviewing and spot checking. The simple target of what OPM is trying to do with retirement services, Kupor said, is to go paperless “as quickly as possible.” The Department of Energy is refreshing its investment in five research centers focused on quantum information science after five years of operation. In a Tuesday announcement, DOE said it's putting up $625 million to keep all of the existing National Quantum Information Science Research Centers (QIS) going for up to five more years, matching the same investment that launched those centers in 2020. Darío Gil, DOE undersecretary for science, said in a written statement: “President Trump positioned America to lead the world in quantum science and technology and today, a new frontier of scientific discovery lies before us. Breakthroughs in QIS have the potential to revolutionize the ways we sense, communicate, and compute, sparking entirely new technologies and industries.” The centers were authorized by Congress and signed into law in 2018 during the first Trump administration as part of the National Quantum Initiative Act. Since the first January 2020 investment from DOE — which envisioned “two to five multidisciplinary Quantum Initiatives” — centers led by its Brookhaven, Argonne, Lawrence Berkeley, Oak Ridge, and Fermi National Laboratories have been established. According to a DOE press release, the work of each center includes supporting science that has “disruptive potential across quantum computing, simulation, networking, and sensing,” as well as establishing “community resources, workforce opportunities, and industry partnerships.” The Daily Scoop Podcast is available every Monday-Friday afternoon.
