Quality Management is one of the courses offered by the Faculty of Science and Technology at Open University Malaysia (OUM). This is a core course for students pursuing the Bachelor of Technology Management programme.
Episode 2 deals with developing the system for managing quality, the various quality standards and the ISO 9001:2000 international standard on Quality.
Episode 3 defines the modern meaning of auditing as a developmental rather than penalising process, what to audit, the management of audits, the criteria to be an auditor, internal and external auditors, and the preparation of audits by auditee.
Episode 7 introduces the concept of Six Sigma that has been successfully used by many organisations overseas to improve the overall organisational health in conjunction with quality. We will discuss why we should use Six Sigma, the advantages of Six Sigma, its components and the DMAIC process used in it.
Episode 1 deals with quality policies in an organisation, the scoping of quality work, the responsibilities of management in quality, employees involvement in quality, training and development in quality and quality planning.
Episode 4 covers management techniques, quality costs categories and elements, collection, analysis and reporting as well as strategies for quality improvement.
Episode 5 discusses the collection of data, their reduction and analysis as well as reporting. We will also discuss some aspects of statistical analysis as this is normally the method used in data reduction and analysis, process control, automatic testing and measurement as well as systems design related to quality management.
Episode 6 discusses the fundamental approaches, leadership, customers' satisfaction, continuous process improvement, measurements of quality, techniques as well as DemingĂs 14 Points that have withstood the test of time.
