Jeffrey York discusses the inspiration behind the 2nd album from Major Player.
From early 2017 thru 2019 I had the pleasure of touring, playing and getting to know Stephen Collie. On the surface Stephen and I probably seem like an odd pairing but we have a tendancy to see similar things in the world. I feel fortunate to have developed a true bond with this tough critic and high opinionated individual. Stephen an I dip into the new song “By Design,” the recording process and the development of the song and our friendship on the road

I’ve spoken a lot on the Podcast about how I believe that individuals making small contributions to their community creates mutual benefit. John Tierney is one of those individuals out here doing just that. His blog offers a unique perspective from decades of attending live event. I met John at a live show and he was at the most recent Major Player show.I am very thankful to have crossed his path and I’m inspired by his genuine enthusiasm for music and the humility at which he approaches blogging.John has been on the Syracuse Music scene for several decades and you can read his writing at jjtierney.com where he frequently showcases the music he loves.
Have you ever known someone on the fringes of your own social scene? Been friends with them, but maybe never gotten beyond casual acquaintance? I’ve know Josh Netsky for over 10 years, but sort of at a distance. In my previous band I would often see Josh at shows or at random places where his band was playing. Josh is the lead singer and songwriter of the Rochester band Maybird, who has had some notable success in music. Not least of which, was touring with Portugal. The Man, signing to 30th Century Records and Recording an EP with Patrick Kearney of The Black Keys. Josh and I talk about Rochester, Syracuse, water park concerts and the merits of Myspace.
I got a chance to sit down with Max Puglisi while he was in town as he transitions from his most recent life in New York City and Boston, where he was a venue and restaurant manager at City Winery. Max lived in Syracuse for several year and in that time helped foster community growth and collaboration amongst a wide range of social groups. Max and I discuss his time in Syracuse, how each of us has the opportunity to step up and how it only take a little of effort to make our city a great place to live.
Just checking in with some thank you's and a quick podcast Q&A

In this episode Jeffrey York (Me) introduces the new podcast. Upset City is going to be a mixed formate Q&A, interview and rambling audio blog. Expect frequent if not weekly segments with artist, musicians and business owners for the Syracuse area and plenty of Major Player as I unfold the upcoming album release in future segments.
