Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 88-68 loss to NC State. The Orange have hit the low point of Adrian Autry's tenure as head coach as it hit its first four-game losing streak under the Orange head coach. Quadir Copeland, a guard Syracuse told to hit the road two years ago, dropped 19 points and 10 assists on the Orange in what turned into a blowout loss. Axe discusses how some of the same old mistakes haunted Syracuse in loss including a lack of offensive cohesion and quality shots at the hoop. Now you can add in some defensive breakdowns to the mix as SU's zone got ripped apart by the Wolfpack. Things have never been worse under Autry for the 12-9 (3-5) Orange and there are still 10 games to play in the regular season. Erik Spoelstra calls out the Heat for lack of effort—starting with Bam Adebayo—and Miami responds with a pair of road wins, showing why Spo's voice carries so much weight in that locker room. We revisit the costly taunting call in the Seahawks game, praise Jaxson Smith-Njigba's impact, and look ahead to a Patriots–Seahawks Super Bowl featuring a new New England regime back on the big stage. The Dolphins' coordinator hires draw mixed reactions, with Bobby Slowik and potential DC Clint Hurt under the microscope. Plus, Canes basketball grabs a big win at Syracuse, Stanford and Cal come to town, and center James Brockermeyer earns praise as he heads to the NFL Draft.

Brent Axe chats live following Syracuse basketball's 85-76 loss to Miami at the JMA Dome. The Orange have now lost three straight games, falling to 12-8 (3-4 in ACC). All conversations about SU going forward will be swamped by the job status of Orange head coach Adrian Autry. There were "Fire Autry!" chants at the Dome on Saturday and several boos from the crowd. You'll hear from SU players Naithan George, Kiyan Anthony and Donnie Freeman on that. As for the game, Miami took a 9-0 lead and didn't looked back. The Hurricanes never trailed in the game, overpowering SU on the boards 37-21 and slicing through whatever defense the Orange presented, zone or man-to-man. Head Coach Jai Lucas talks to Joe Zagacki following the Canes 85-76 win over Syracuse
The legend of Chris from Alabama continues as the man himself calls in to apologize for his epic rant—only to receive nothing but love and respect from the entire Packer Nation community. Callers from Tennessee, Minnesota, South Carolina, and beyond phone in just to thank Chris for saying what everyone was feeling, proving that sometimes the most unfiltered moments create the strongest connections. Liz from New York delivers a passionate takedown of Caleb Williams, calling out his arrogance and questioning whether the Bears' success has anything to do with his actual quarterback play Deep dive into new backup QB Kyle McCord's college stats, including his 90 PFF grade at Syracuse and what development under Matt LaFleur's quarterback coaching could look like Daniel from California sparks a transparency debate about the Packers organization keeping fans in the dark on coaching decisions and personnel moves DC search analysis covering concerns about Gannon's cringy motivation style and why Raheem Morris feels like recycled coaching all over again Jim Leonard interview mystery explored—why haven't the Packers done a virtual interview when they easily could? The calls keep rolling in as Peter Thomas announces a new baby, Nico from Idaho gets fired up, and the whole community rallies around what might be the greatest rant in show history. Full Text of Readings The Saint of the day is Saint Marianne Cope Saint Marianne Cope's Story Though leprosy scared off most people in 19th-century Hawaii, that disease sparked great generosity in the woman who came to be known as Mother Marianne of Molokai. Her courage helped tremendously to improve the lives of its victims in Hawaii, a territory annexed to the United States during her lifetime (1898). Mother Marianne's generosity and courage were celebrated at her May 14, 2005, beatification in Rome. She was a woman who spoke “the language of truth and love” to the world, said Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, prefect of the Congregation for Saints' Causes. Cardinal Martins, who presided at the beatification Mass in St. Peter's Basilica, called her life “a wonderful work of divine grace.” Speaking of her special love for persons suffering from leprosy, he said, “She saw in them the suffering face of Jesus. Like the Good Samaritan, she became their mother.” On January 23, 1838, a daughter was born to Peter and Barbara Cope of Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. The girl was named after her mother. Two years later the Cope family emigrated to the United States and settled in Utica, New York. Young Barbara worked in a factory until August 1862, when she went to the Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis in Syracuse, New York. After profession in November of the next year, she began teaching at Assumption parish school. Saint Marianne Cope held the post of superior in several places and was twice the novice mistress of her congregation. A natural leader, three different times she was superior of St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, where she learned much that would be useful during her years in Hawaii. Elected provincial in 1877, Saint Marianne Cope was unanimously re-elected in 1881. Two years later the Hawaiian government was searching for someone to run the Kakaako Receiving Station for people suspected of having leprosy. More than 50 religious communities in the United States and Canada were asked. When the request was put to the Syracuse sisters, 35 of them volunteered immediately. On October 22, 1883, Mother Marianne and six other sisters left for Hawaii where they took charge of the Kakaako Receiving Station outside Honolulu; on the island of Maui they also opened a hospital and a school for girls. In 1888, Mother Marianne and two sisters went to Molokai to open a home for “unprotected women and girls” there. The Hawaiian government was quite hesitant to send women for this difficult assignment; they need not have worried about Mother Marianne! On Molokai she took charge of the home that Saint Damien de Veuster had established for men and boys. Mother Marianne changed life on Molokai by introducing cleanliness, pride, and fun to the colony. Bright scarves and pretty dresses for the women were part of her approach. Awarded the Royal Order of Kapiolani by the Hawaiian government and celebrated in a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson, Mother Marianne continued her work faithfully. Her sisters have attracted vocations among the Hawaiian people and still work on Molokai. Saint Marianne Cope died on August 9, 1918, was beatified in 2005, and canonized seven years later. Her life is a model of grace, service, kindness, and love. Saint Marianne Cope: Pray for us! Reflection The government authorities were reluctant to allow Saint Marianne Cope to be a mother on Molokai. Thirty years of dedication proved their fears unfounded. God grants gifts regardless of human shortsightedness and allows those gifts to flower for the sake of the kingdom.Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media
Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 76-74 loss to Virginia Tech on Wednesday night. Syracuse's season and Adrian Autry's seat have hit a boiling point after two bad losses for the Orange that dropped them to 12-7 (3-3). Fans are fed up. There were audible boos and chants to fire the coach in a sparsely-attended JMA Dome on Wednesday night. Autry was visibly frustrated in his press conference, dropping an F bomb just 30 seconds in. Players were despondent in the locker room. Axe discusses how the conversation going forward will be primarily about Autry's job (as if it hasn't been already) and every loss going forward will only compound that situation. Axe played two clips from Autry in asking why SU has lost the second-half so often this season and what his message to a frustrated fan base is about how he will lead Syracuse forward. The conversation on Syracuse Sports and our live Syracuse basketball postgame shows is always shaped by terrific insight from Syracuse Sports Insiders. Become a Syracuse Sports Insider today! A shocked city, a careful army, and a plateau that decides everything. We follow the tense weeks after Athens' first win outside Syracuse, when momentum gave way to method. Nicias, often branded cautious, makes a hard strategic choice: pause late in the season, refill the coffers, request cavalry, and prepare for a siege that can actually hold under pressure. Meanwhile, Syracuse hears Hermocrates at last. His blunt case—discipline over bluster, reform over blame—shrinks a muddled command, tightens training, and sends envoys to Corinth and Sparta to turn a local crisis into a panhellenic cause. The political map of Sicily comes into sharp focus as Camarina keeps a careful distance, Naxos and Regium quietly help Athens, and both sides court allies who can tip supplies, harbors, and morale. Then the war's center of gravity jumps across the sea. Alcibiades escapes and arrives in Sparta with insider detail and a plan to exploit Athenian overreach. His advice sparks two decisive moves: dispatching Gylippus to steady Syracuse and fortifying Decelea to bleed Attica. Intelligence, timing, and audacity reshape the conflict more than any single skirmish could.Through winter 415–414 BCE, the Athenians work with rare clarity. Catana becomes an operating base; ships are refit; scouts trace Syracuse's walls and water. The conclusion is simple and stark: win the Epipolae Heights or lose the siege before it begins. Spring brings speed. A quiet sail, a rapid landing, and Lamachus' night march seize Euryelus, the gateway to the plateau. Engineers mark lines. Syracuse counters. For a moment, the expedition reaches its high watermark, the city nearly within an encircling wall. But with Gylippus on the horizon and a reformed Syracuse ready to contest every trench, the hard road truly begins. Support the show
