Brent Axe reacts live to Syracuse basketball's 76-62 win over Mercyhurst at the JMA Dome on Wednesday night. Axe discusses how SU head coach Adrian Autry claimed at his postgame press conference that "there's nothing wrong with the offense" even though SU fans have struggled to grasp what his offensive philosophy is. The numbers don't bear out his claims either as SU ranks 118th in KenPom in offensive efficiency, 305th nationally in 3-point shooting and 365th in free-throw shooting. Axe also discussed the "autopilot" nature of the win and the lack of energy in the dome before the smallest crowd of the year and how SU may just be trying to get through its non-conference slate before things ramp up with the start of ACC play on New Year's Eve against Clemson. Axe also reacts to soundbites from Adrian Autry, William Kyle, Naithan George, JJ Starling and more plus checks in with Syracuse Sports Insiders to get their take on the loss. With over a month and a half of (essentially) non-conference ACC men’s basketball under our belts who would have thought things would be looking up as much as they are? Special guest, Jason Carmello, the wizard behind Big-Underdog bracketology says there’s much to be happy with when it comes to the conference this season. ACC men’s basketball over the past few years has been less than stellar and pundits have been declaring an early death for the conference. Well, it appears that the slumber is over. Duke, Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia all hold spots in the latest Top 25’s. What might be even more telling is the teams that are getting attention and it’s a long list. Clemson, Cal, Notre Dame, Miami, SMU, Virginia Tech, NC State and if consistency jump into the mix then Wake Forest and Syracuse will be there, too. Basketball In Carmello’s first bracket of the season 8 ACC teams find a spot with four more just on the cusp. That’s simply the Phoenix rising. Yes, it’s an early projection but there’s far more stats to work with this season than in years past. All good signs. With a quick listen or watching ACC Nation on YouTube you’ll find out why we spend less time talking when Carmello joins us to talk basketball. Be sure to subscribe to our podcast, listen to us on streaming radio and watch on YouTube.

What's up Cuse Nation?!?! Syracuse with and unfortunate event...a one point loss to Hofstra. Was it bad officiating? Was it Syracuse shooting themselves in the foot? Was it bad coaching? All of those options are on the table. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See https://pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Syracuse basketball's 70-69 loss to Hofstra was inexcusable. But so was the officiating in that game. As Brent Axe describes in a live edition of Syracuse Sports, both things things can be true and were factors in the loss at the JMA Dome on Saturday night. Axe also comes back to the Groundhog Day topic of SU's poor free-throw shooting (which is literally the worst in Division I basketball at 56.8%) being an achilles heel that will cost SU more games if it doesn't improve. Axe also reacts to soundbites from Adrian Autry, Kiyan Anthony, JJ Starling and more pus checks in with Syracuse Sports Insiders to get their take on the loss. SYRACUSE ARTIST WINS INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATION CONTEST Upcoming Hollywood Awards Event HOLLYWOOD, CA - Syracuse, Utah artist Tray Streeter is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest earning him a trip to Hollywood for a week-long master-class workshop, an awards event and his illustration will be published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 42. Tray Streeter grew up in Syracuse, Utah. Like many children, he spent much of his childhood drawing, though he was especially interested in still lifes. That fascination with technique deepened in his teenage years after he received a set of oil paints for Christmas, leading him to study the works of John Singer Sargent and Caravaggio. Portraiture became his passion, one that continues to influence his work today. It was not until adulthood, when he began working digitally, that he turned his attention to sci-fi and fantasy art. The genre offered him the freedom to create artworks that exist beyond reality. Influenced by artists like Frank Frazetta and Alex Ross, he aims to combine both the drama and technique of classical painting with the sleek, contemporary possibilities of digital art. Currently, Tray is attending Weber State University, pursuing a BFA in Art with a 2D emphasis. After graduation, he hopes to continue his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ultimately, he aspires to illustrate for Dungeons & Dragons, work on cover illustration for comics, and develop his own original concepts. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. In the 42 years of the Writers of the Future Contest, there have been 571 winners and published finalists. The past winners of the Writing Contest have published 2,000 novels and nearly 6,300 short stories. They have produced 36 New York Times bestsellers, and their works have sold over 60 million copies. In the 37 years of the Illustrators of the Future Contest, there have been 418 winners. The past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 6,800 illustrations, 390 comic books, graced 700 books and albums with their art, and visually contributed to 68 television shows and 40 major movies. The Writers of the Future Award is the genre's most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful, and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of speculative fiction. Since its inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 41 anthology volumes

Send us a textStart with the evidence — not the rumor. In this episode of LFTG Radio, we speak directly with Nahkeen Lewis-Bush, calling in from Sing Sing Correctional Facility, where he is serving a 40-year sentence for a case that, according to the record, involved no victim testimony, no shot fired, and sworn affidavits clearing him of responsibility. This conversation begins with the human reality behind the paperwork: life on state parole, sleeping in a rescue mission, scraping together money on a rainy night in Syracuse — and how a paid ride would later become the foundation of a prosecution's theory. From there, we move deliberately into the documents that define freedom or confinement in New York State: grand jury minutes, affidavits, discovery failures, and alleged violations of the state's speedy trial rules.Nahkeen explains why the grand jury minutes are central to his claim of innocence, asserting they show the alleged victim never described himself as a victim and never appeared at trial — despite jurors being told he would. We examine the prosecution's shifting theory, the absence of witness statements, and sworn affidavits from co-defendants stating Nahkeen did nothing. We also discuss plea negotiations that dropped from 15 years to 6, the pressure of trial penalties, and the unsettling reality that he has now served more time than the offer he refused.Inside the walls, Nahkeen describes surviving through faith, prayer, and relentless self-education, while helping others navigate appeals and post-conviction relief — a reminder that in a system built on deadlines and disclosures, knowledge can move cases when institutions stall. This is not a debate episode. It is a record-based conversation. If justice is supposed to be the product of due process plus facts, this case raises serious questions about whether either was honored.

44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.Simile est regnum caelorum thesauro abscondito in agro : quem qui invenit homo, abscondit, et prae gaudio illius vadit, et vendit universa quae habet, et emit agrum illum. 45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.Iterum simile est regnum caelorum homini negotiatori, quaerenti bonas margaritas. 46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.Inventa autem una pretiosa margarita, abiit, et vendidit omnia quae habuit, et emit eam. 47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.Iterum simile est regnum caelorum sagenae missae in mare, et ex omni genere piscium congreganti. 48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.Quam, cum impleta esset, educentes, et secus littus sedentes, elegerunt bonis in vasa, malos autem foras miserunt. 49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just.Sic erit in consummatione saeculi : exibunt angeli, et separabunt malos de medio justorum, 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.et mittent eos in caminum ignis : ibi erit fletus, et stridor dentium. 51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.Intellexistis haec omnia? Dicunt ei : Etiam. 52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.Ait illis : Ideo omnis scriba doctus in regno caelorum, similis est homini patrifamilias, qui profert de thesauro suo nova et vetera.Born at Syracuse in Sicily of noble parents, St Lucy gave herself to Jesus and chose death rather than to lose the incorruptible treasure of her virginity, A.D. 303. Her name occurs in the Canon of the Mass.

Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 71-63 win over St. Joseph's at the JMA Dome on Thursday night. It wasn't a pretty game at all for the Orange, who got worked in the paint (St. Joe's out-rebounded SU 44-34) and just couldn't find a rhythm on offense. Axe described the combination of factors that led to such a blah night at the Dome. SU had 9 days off entering the game. It was a late 9 p.m on a snowy night in Syracuse. Players had exams this week and a few were under the weather. As Axe discussed, that doesn't excuse a few concerning patterns the Orange have with a lack of offensive identity and its terrible free-throw shooting, but at least they were able to dig deep and grind out a win. The Mountaineers are reportedly pursuing one of the biggest names to hit the transfer portal: QB Marcus Stokes. The former four-star recruit was one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2023 class, initially committing to Florida before his scholarship was withdrawn due to a viral video showing him using a racial slur. Stokes spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons at Division II West Florida, where he had a highly productive year, completing over 60% of his passes for nearly 3,300 yards with 30 TDs and 13 INTs in 2025, according to a recent report, and was a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy (D-II's top player). In this video, we break down: The Player: What kind of talent and stats would Stokes bring to the WVU offense? The Baggage: We dive into the controversial incident that led to his decommitment from Florida and the conversation around second chances in college football. The Fit: Where does Stokes stand on the WVU quarterback depth chart, and how would this transfer impact the team and the fan base? Portal Rumors: Latest news on other P5 programs pursuing Stokes, including Syracuse, Florida State, and Iowa, as per On3's Pete Nakos' post on X. Will Rich Rodriguez and the WVU staff take a chance on a high-risk, high-reward transfer? And will Stokes even choose WVU? The AFC East is on the line Sunday - at least it is for the Bills, who will surrender the division crown with a loss. Obviously, it's a big game for Buffalo, but who needs to make a statement more: Buffalo or New England, which has doubts because of their easy schedule. Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot are joined by Josh Reed and Carl Jones on the latest episode of "BKL Makes Me Wanna SHOUT!" to discuss that and much more. Love SHOUT? When the previous "biggest win in school history" is from the 1950s, replacing the entry at the top of the list means something. Sure, you could quibble over whether a win against Syracuse from seven decades ago, or a national quarterfinal win at Brockport in 2002, or a quarterfinal win at UW-Whitewater in 2016 should be next on the list, but no regular season win, even one against Mount Union, compares with beating Mount Union at Mount Union in the playoffs. A win of this nature is so iconic that the head coach's phone blows up, and so does the feed of everyone else even remotely associated with John Carroll football. The traffic on D3football.com nearly doubled in the course of 10 minutes. There's no pretending this is an ordinary win. And to John Carroll's credit, they didn't try to. We chat with Jeff Behrman, the JCU head coach, about having confidence in kicker Colin Schuler after a missed chip shot in the first overtime nearly cost them the game, about the key final play of the game, and about the team's return to campus, the reception, and what's next for the Blue Streaks. We bring back in former co-host Keith McMillan to break down the play, what he saw on video from his perspective as a former Division III football starting safety. Mailbag questions came hard for this game. The one we chose to answer was whether this means that JCU is up to Mount Union's level or if Mount Union has slipped and there's just one elite team. The answer is perhaps no different than it was when Keith and Greg Thomas wrote a column under the headline "Today, we are all Mount Union" after the 2022 Stagg Bowl, for we are all chasing North Central. We take your mailbag questions. We have postgame audio from all eight games and break them all down. Keith also sits down with Johns Hopkins coach Dan Wodicka and safety Sam Bourdo. Bethel's David Geebli talks about recovering from fumbling on the first snap of the game. Susquehanna's Josh Ehrlich takes the blame for the River Hawks' slow start. Matt Walker talks about UW-River Falls' slow start, although it was fairly brief. Jesse Scott talks about what they saw that was familiar in DePauw's run defense. Berry safety Chaz Pope talks about his game-sealing interception. There's those clips and much more in this podcast. Plus we drop some scoop as to when we will release our All-America team, we answer whether we really thought Johns Hopkins lost some shine after the F&M loss and we bring the receipts to prove it (they're all on the website). Patrick and Greg also hand out game balls, bring you through the stats of the week and we take your questions in the mailbag segment. That and more in this edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation podcast.

FOOTBALL v OHIO STATE Offense had some neat ideas in the run game, not so much the passing game. Problem with not running read options all year is Bryce blew too many of them. Sherrone is a run guy, had some great run tweaks, but it ended up costing them in the passing game as Bryce was cold—gotta throw on early downs if you're going to be a successful passing team. Defensively it was worse when we looked. "Only 27 points" is because they only had nine possessions and one of the killed the game in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Wink: Not great. Felt mailed in, no interesting ideas, and the ideas he did have were bad ones, like delayed blitzes that won't get to Sayin until it's too late, or showing his hand. Sayin was never confused: he read out what he planned to. Sam not a fan of spot-dropping. That was most of the defense this game; in the past Michigan's used a lot more switch and poach coverages. Wink is too easy to see coming, and that's not going to change. We're ready to move on, hope he is as well. Differences aren't all on Wink: Ernest Hausmann was a big loss, and a big difference last year. Josiah Stewart was and The Gifts were a big deal last year. Getting off the field on 3rd & 3 is when those playmakers have to do something, and Michigan didn't have those guys. SIGNING DAY Got interesting yesterday. Big money plays at Zion Robinson, Travis Johnson and (from UNC) Julian Walker. Michigan is either getting Zion Robinson (who got a big offer from Syracuse) or Georgia commit Brady Marchese—if Calvin Russell is serious then they'll work that out separately. Julian Walker is deciding today; his connection to Michigan in the first place was his dad, isn't sure he wants to leave home, which is understandable. If he goes to UNC it's just money. Hiter was just a misunderstanding when his contract came and they got it cleared up eventually. Underrated guys in the class: Alister Vallejo (we love), McHale Blade (fell too far after his injury) and Tommy Carr (we think he's better than Brady Smigiel, not better than Bourque).
Hall of Fame pass rusher Dwight Freeney talks about why Syracuse has an annoying fanbase (Stugotz's description).
