Happy Birthday to Chris, now 33 years old. Joined by Fly Ty and Pretty Tonie the Complicated Simplicity team recaps some ongoings from the past week including the Vice Presidential debate, Tory Lanez indictment, and the Lakers championship before getting to the main subject of the week. Why is it that we cannot be ok with not being ok? Whether it be financially, mentally or physically we should be ok with embracing the struggle but clearly we're not there yet. So we try to deal with the the root of why and explore what language can we use to communicate these hardships and what systems can be put into place to help when we hit a rough patch. After a year away Complicated Simplicity has returned. Times haves changed, life has evolved, hosts are different but the goal is the same. The trio of Chris, Tonie, and Tyana provided insight on how they are handling the pandemic and how to cope with stress and anxiety. Also we discussed if the resurgence of black owned businesses and interest in the BLM movement will still be going strong when the virus is gone. The conversation culminates with a look into how generation curses/traumas affect us today and what can be done to break those curses. All that and more so have a listen and spread the word. Intro song: Jeff Walker - 1992 Special s/o to Ace and Ace Of Spades Studios for exclusively recording all of season 1 of the show and being our home for 28 episodes. Much appreciated. Friends! How many of us have them? And are they really your friends? This week we discuss what qualities we expect from a friendship and how we deal with changes to the different dynamics of that relationship as we grow and evolve. A lot of different views are in play here so listen and let us know if you agree it disagree. Also this is a special episode because it marks 1 year since Complicated Simplicity went live so Happy Birthday to us!
-Nobody seems to think the New Zealand attack is that big of a deal...well we do! Just because something happens in another country doesn't mean it can't hit close to home. Without being overly political we discuss some of the ways this act of terrorism is swept under the rug or deemed "isolated" - Jess Hilarious made the mistake of thinking xenophobia had humor to it and it backfired. Was she wrong? Yes. Is she alone? No. The deeper question that situation reveals is do black people view people other poc the same way the rest of the world does and just don't like to admit it? -Will each culture self-educating their children about their own history help to alleviate stigmas and stereotypes instead of relying on school curriculum to fix such a deep rooted issue? Chris and Brandy discuss all of that and more is the newest episode of Complicated Simplicity.
Ladies and gentlemen...BEBE IS BACK! Brandy returns to co-host a new episode of Complicated Simplicity for the topic of Polygamay, polgyny, and commune. What is it? Can it work? Who is it for? We discuss all of this and much more over some wine that was apparently way too strong so excuse some of the random laughs. God is still working on us. Listen, share and keep the conversation going.
