Economist Lee Badgett, AB'82, will lecture on the current state of the same-sex marriage debate, providing new ways of framing the issue in light of her research into the economic, political, social, and personal stakes involved. Badgett is associate professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and holds a joint appointment at the UCLA School of Law as research director of the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy. Her work has appeared in magazines and newspapers across the country, including the New York Times, Slate, and the Nation.
