La temperatura es calor out here in these streets! The sister-duo Starchile and Riri dropping their first episode of the much-anticipated podcast: Insensical! w/ Starchile and Riri! We cover the protests, police brutality, class warfare, allies vs co-conspirators, and how we can move forward as a nation into a black utopia.
On this episode I am joined by one of the most genuine people I have come across in my lifetime. There is zero exaggeration or hyperbole in that statement either, I truly mean it. Torrey Dooley shares his incredible journey of becoming one of very few black male nurses in the United States. What's even more remarkable is that in his late 20's he made the decision to forsake the path of continuing in the only trade he's ever known, which was being a mechanic. As a husband and a father he made a very tough decision to financially take a setback for a number of years to set himself up to realize his dream, and Torrey was set to make it happen by any means necessary. At the thehoodnurse.com Torrey is on a mission to bridge the gap between the hood and the hospital. There is a lot of mistrust among the black community when it comes to the medical industry, but Torrey helps decode the medical jargon and plainly breaks what we need to know when it comes to taking care of ourselves and not getting lost in translation... Also, around 1:04:00 Torrey tells a story of an interview he did with the late great Portland Hip Hop legend Starchile. In that interview Starchile left us with a simple message that none of us should ignore... I hope you all enjoy listening to this conversation as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. This week I am joined by one of the most talented lyricists in the country, let alone Portland, OR. More importantly, this brotha is all heart off the mic and has a mission to positively impact people by any means necessary. Mighty has an event called Laced Up PDX, which he plans to give away 200 brand new shoes to kids in the Portland metro area, and that's just the beginning. Portland Hip Hop Day 2018 is coming up soon. Mighty and I share stories of PDX Hip Hop legend Starchile... Tap in and enjoy!
Portland Oregon MC/Host/Radio personality...the list goes on and on. StarChile took time from his busy schedule to record the lost episode of the podcast. The conversation touches on his work in the Portland music scene, race relations, why the Portland Trail Blazers have difficulty attracting free agents and the use if the "N" word. Check out the latest episode of Klyph Notes feat. StarChile
Promoter and all around hip hop historian StarChile stopped by this week. We talked about 2LiveCrew, what makes a good party, Portland hip hop, battle rap, and his monthly event Mic Drop.
