In today's episode, Hunter invites us into the second day of our year-long journey through the scriptures, encouraging us to simply listen, read, and be transformed by God's love. We dive into the foundational stories of Genesis 3–5, witnessing humanity's fall, exile from Eden, and the first generations after Adam and Eve. The episode then transitions to Luke 2, where we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the joy of the shepherds, and the dedication of the young Messiah in the temple. Throughout the reading, Hunter reflects on the true nature of God's holiness—not as a barrier that keeps us away, but as a consuming love that seeks to restore and draw us near, even in our brokenness. Together, we spend time in prayer, seek peace, and remember that God has come to us just as we are. Whether you're new to this community or part of our daily gathering, this episode is a heartfelt invitation to experience and be changed by God's transformative love. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God comes to us, just as we are. Sometimes we think we have to get ourselves straightened out or cleaned up—at least a little—before we can hope or expect God to draw near, to love us, to do anything for us. But that's not the gospel at all. We are the ones who hide and withdraw in our shame, in our delusion and darkness. He is not the one who hides from us. In today's scripture, we see Adam and Eve banished from the garden. It's easy to read these passages and imagine that they were sent away because God's holiness makes it impossible for him to be in the presence of sin or sinners. But that's not the picture the Bible gives us. God banishes Adam and Eve, not because he despises them or cannot bear being near them, but in mercy—to keep them from reaching out for the Tree of Life in their blindness, in a way that could not be undone. God isn't so holy that he must separate himself from us. He is so holy that he constantly moves toward us, into our darkness, into our wounds, our delusions, our hiding places. He comes to restore us, to cover us, to open our eyes. He covers Adam and Eve with garments; he meets Cain in his wandering; he draws near again and again. That is his character. This is the gospel: God comes to us as we are, in our delusion and blindness, lost and hiding, and he restores us. His holiness is a holy love—a consuming love, a purifying love—that burns away all that is not of love and brings us back to himself. That love sent Jesus to the cross to break the power of sin, to open our eyes, so we can see who we are in him, his beloved children. The news, my friend, is better than we've thought. God has not banished you because he despises you or cannot stand to be in your presence. He has acted so that a way of restoration could be made—and that is exactly what he's done in Christ. He is present with us, right now, just as we are, and he invites us to participate with him in the great work of renewal and restoration. Let us live in this truth. Let us experience the joy of it, let it shape our family, our relationships, and our world. Let this be our prayer—for our own soul, for those we love, and for you: that we truly see and live in the reality of God's love, that we know we are his, and that we step forward, day by day, in that love. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In this very first episode of 2026, Hunter invites us to embark on a year-long journey through the Scriptures, reading the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. Whether you're here for the first time or returning as part of this global community, you'll find encouragement and reflection as we dive into Genesis 1–2 and Luke 1. Together, we explore the story's beginnings—from creation, the beauty of living without shame, and God's promise of redemption, to the miraculous births of John and Jesus. Through Scripture, short devotionals, and heartfelt prayer, Hunter reminds us that this year is full of fresh hope. No matter where you're starting from, you're invited to approach God with honesty, open your heart to Christ's presence, and say "yes" to a life free from shame—a life transformed by God's love. So, settle in for today's reading and reflection, and let's begin this new year seeking Jesus and experiencing the power of God's Word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Shame-free living. That's how the story begins. God created man and woman, and they were without shame. But in the chapters ahead, we are going to see that they have been robbed of a life without shame. We'll soon read all about it. We'll also read about the devastation that ensues. But as we read through the whole story of God, we're going to find that it doesn't end there. No, that would be bad news. But this is good news. And the good news is that God has sent his one and only Son. The second Adam. He's going to do everything necessary for us to get back to a life without shame, a life lived with God. That's the whole point of this amazing story of the Bible—that this has been given to us. God has come to us at our lowest, the most shame-filled places of our lives. Christ has come to meet us there. And he offers us there a real, abundant, shame-free life. Some of you went through this last year carrying a lot of shame. But this year can be different. This year you can come to him—not just pages in a book, but to Christ himself, who is present with you and in you. And you can begin to open up your heart to him so that he might set you free from all the ways that shame has crippled your life. The prayer that I have for my own soul today is that you and I would have the same spirit and heart that Mary had when she heard the good news. She said yes to it. She said yes. May it be unto me as you have just said. Maybe she didn't understand all of it—no doubt she didn't. But she was ready to say yes to God. And maybe that's something that you can do today, even though you don't understand all things. You can say yes to him who does. You can say yes. If you've heard, like I heard today in the reading, that God intends for us to live without shame, then say yes to that. If you have heard, as I have heard today, that Jesus has come to take that shame away, to take away any barrier that would keep us from a life with him, then maybe you and I can both say yes to that. Let me encourage you to say it even in your unbelief. Go ahead and say it now. Yes, God, I believe. Help me in my unbelief. I say yes to your presence in my life. I say yes to your forgiveness. I say yes to the hope that I can live without shame and in your strength. Maybe you just need to whisper it to yourself. Maybe you need to shout it out loud. It's important that we begin wherever we can. And maybe today that beginning is simply a whisper, a faint hope that maybe it's true, that maybe we can be free. Maybe God really is with us. Maybe Christ really does live in you. Maybe you really are loved by God. Maybe there's a way to live without shame. And to that I say yes. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. “I wonder if we'll get a cease and desist on this episode…” Generally speaking, whenever someone says “Slayer” or “Metallica”, you think of two veteran thrash bands which both formed in 1981 and both released their debut albums in 1983. This is common knowledge among most fans of both of these bands. Ironically, there's another band who follows this exact same timeline of forming in 1981 and releasing their debut album in 1983, yet at the time, they were NOT at all thrashy…not even close. Most of us know of PANTERA as the brutally heavy, groove metal masters from Arlington, Texas who lit a proverbial fire under the ass of the thrash and heavy music scene in 1990 with their “major label” debut album (with the emphasis, in this case, on the words “major label”) as CFH was actually their FIFTH studio album. Fifth? Wait a minute…what about THE FIRST FOUR studio albums!? And why are those albums not talked about and celebrated just like all things PANTERA!? Well, there's a reason that THE FIRST FOUR aren't really talked about or acknowledged. Actually, there are probably a multitude of reasons, but the most glaring one is the stylistic difference between their early glam and power metal days and the heavier, grittier era when they truly became the “Cowboys From Hell”. Remember those awkward Olan Mills pictures you used to take with the family, or better yet, the pictures of you in high school with that absurd, dorky hairstyle that people always like to bring up in conversation? That's kinda what THE FIRST FOUR ALBUMS by PANTERA were like. Always remember that “Dokken is better than KISS” and you absolutely have to “pill up before PT”. Find out why “concubine” is a much cooler term than girlfriend, why the stress of having multiple families can be fatal, and realize that most doctors' definition of “prescription pain medication” is painfully incorrect and a complete waste of a prescription pad. Get ready to find out which Pantera album came out on Rex's 20th birthday, which song features Dime on lead vocals, and understand that while we absolutely did not plan for this to be episode 333, it just so happened to turn out that way. Brace yourselves and get your relaxers ready before you JOIN US as we go back to the 80's to get a better idea of why one of the greatest metal bands of all time tried to bury their earliest work (and original “not as metal” logo) with THE FIRST FOUR from the mighty PANTERA. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, and what a milestone it is as we arrive together at December 31st, 2025! In this special year-end episode, Hunter reflects on the incredible journey we've shared—completing another orbit around the sun and, more importantly, another walk through the entire Bible. Today's reading brings us to the powerful and hope-filled closing chapters of Revelation, where we encounter the promise of a new heaven, a new earth, and a new beginning for all God's people. As Hunter guides us through these final passages, he invites us to consider the grand story of Scripture—not only its awe-inspiring conclusion but also the promise that with God, every ending gives way to a new beginning. There's encouragement and reassurance for all of us entering a new year: God is with us, His love never fails, and the best is yet to come. This episode also contains heartfelt prayers of gratitude, blessing, and hope for the year ahead, as well as an invitation to reflect on your own journey through the Scriptures. Whether you're a first-time listener or have been with us for years, you'll find inspiration and comfort as we close out 2025 together—reminded that in every season and chapter of life, we are truly loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: It's only just begun. Even as we conclude this story, we see that a new story is just beginning. A new creation is coming—a new heaven and a new earth, a new city, a new Jerusalem with new citizens composed of all the nations. These nations will walk in the light of God. They are enveloped in his light. They are his children of light. Today, as we consider these great mysteries, let's be sure of this: the story that we're living right now has an endpoint. There is a conclusion that God is bringing it to, but it doesn't just end with a conclusion. No, now we see that there is still more to come. In fact, the best is yet to come. And that can be a great reminder and a great comfort to our souls as we see certain chapters of our own lives come to their conclusion. We can rest assured that God is not done. There's still more to come. Because with him we have life. We have life abundant. And he promises to be with us through all of the seasons and the chapters of our lives—even as he has been this year and all that it brought, all its challenges, its misfortunes, its victories and its joys—and he will continue to be with us as we walk into this next chapter. All that will unfold we do not know. But we do know this: that God is with us, that he is good, and that we are loved. The prayer of my own soul today is that I will live in the light. That I will respond to the One who is the light of the world, the One who has come to give Himself. That I might know him, that I might be free, that I might experience his peace and his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family—for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In this episode, your host Hunter invites us into a transformative journey through the Book of Revelation, exploring chapters 10 through 14. As we reflect on these dramatic visions—angels, beasts, the mark of the beast, and the triumph of the Lamb—Hunter reminds us that understanding comes not just from reading but from truly "eating the Book," allowing the words to become part of us. Together, we're encouraged to patiently endure, maintain faith, and let God's Word guide us step by step, trusting that His vision unfolds for those who abide in Him. The episode closes with heartfelt prayers for wisdom, peace, and love, followed by a reminder that our daily practice of soul work shapes us and blesses those around us. This is more than Bible study—it's training in the way of Jesus, building strength for daily life in hope and love. So join Hunter, open your heart, and let today's scripture and prayer nourish your soul. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Eat this book, eat this scroll. It will be sweet like honey and it will be bitter in your stomach. This whole fantastical episode of visions begins with John being told to eat the book. It's only after he eats the scroll, which is both sweet and bitter, that he is given access to a behind the scenes vision—the machinations and happenings of the spiritual world. There are mysteries here that are yet unlocked. Many people spend their lifetime trying to decipher dates and times and meanings of words and particular visions and drawing one for one correlations between things that are happening right here, right now, and yet their ultimate deciphering can only happen for those who eat the book. Eating the book is a precursor to understanding God's vision. And that's true for our lives as well. It's only as we abide in him, the living Word, as we allow his written word to give us a vision for what God is saying and doing here and now, what he has for our life. The ultimate decoding can only happen for those who dwell in him, for those who taste the Word of life, to listen to him and his message and obey what he says. Then God will provide for us a step by step, unfolding on a need to know basis. Notice the angel tells him not to write down the vision he sees. He's told to keep it a secret because God reveals to us what we need to know, when we need to know it. Ours is to take the next step, to see the next vision that God has placed before us. Ours is to take and partake of him. Ours is to stand back in awe and worship Him. This story that we read about and we find ourselves in is going somewhere. It's not just an endless cycle of the same thing over and over again. No, God is culminating things. This book is showing us that. The angel says there is no more delay. Things are coming to a rapid conclusion. We can be sure that God is on the move and we are to be on the move with him, taking each step with him, each and every day. Understand that it is only as we partake of him, we eat his word, we live in communion with him, that we will begin to understand the vision that God has for your life. So eat his word, eat his flesh, partake of him, receive from him visions, direction, courage and hope. Take the next step with him, living life in him. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the only thing I can really make sense of in these passages. And that's the prayer that I have for my family too, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. Amen. In today's episode, Hunter guides us through the 363rd day of our journey through the Scriptures, focusing on Revelation chapters 5 through 9. Together, we witness the dramatic scene of the Lamb—Jesus—opening the sealed scroll, a powerful symbol of hope, justice, and redemption in the midst of a broken world. Hunter reflects on the meaning and significance of these passages, reminding us that, even in times of confusion and despair, God's love and victory can transform our weeping into worship. The episode also includes heartfelt prayers for peace, understanding, and unity, as well as an encouraging reminder that each listener is beloved by God. Whether you're new to the Daily Radio Bible or have been with us all year, you'll find hope, comfort, and inspiration in today's time together in the Word and in prayer. TODAY'S DEVOTION: If this scroll isn't opened, then how are we going to make sense of this story? The story of human history demands that this scroll be opened. The story of life demands that justice and righteousness prevail. Some sense must be drawn from all the senseless evil in this world. John falls into despair at reflecting on the possibility that there will be no judgment, no true reconciling of all things—a restoration when God is all and in all. He wonders whether perhaps it's all meaningless. He wonders whether there will be a response from God in the end. John cries out at the thought. He cries out for someone to make sense of the wreckage. And in this final moment, when it appears that all is lost, an elder insists that John stop weeping. He insists that there is One who is worthy and able. It is the One sitting on the throne. He can open the scroll because he has stepped into the darkness, the despair, the loss, into death and into the grave. He is the Lamb of God who has taken away the sin of the world. He has offered himself on the cross, and in that offering, he defeats death by death in order that he might rescue those who are captive to sin, death, and the grave. He's come to rescue the lost—Adam and all of us—and draw us into his saving life. In his body, he accomplished this victory. You might be like John today, weeping because you think there's no way to make sense of what's happened in your life. The elder, John, and I all want to remind you—look to the Lamb. He's worthy. Look at him. See what he has done. He has won a victory for you, for us, for the world that will transform our weeping into absolute worship and adoration. Let's ask the Spirit to help us see the Lamb who opens the scroll. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's journey through the Scriptures, Hunter guides us into the Book of Revelation, exploring chapters 1 through 4. Together, we'll encounter powerful images of Christ at the center of all creation—the One who holds the universe and our lives in His hands. Hunter reflects on the messages given to the seven churches, offering encouragement, correction, and hope, while reminding us that Christ's love extends to everyone, everywhere. This episode isn't just a reading, but a heartfelt invitation to see the world—and ourselves—through the lens of God's love as revealed in Jesus. You'll find moments of prayer for personal renewal, comfort, and peace, and meaningful reminders that our story, the story of the world, finds its meaning when Christ is at the center. So grab your Bible, settle in, and join Hunter for a time of scripture, reflection, and prayer—rooted in the amazing truth that you are deeply loved by God. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There's someone sitting on the throne. The one on the throne is described as brilliant. The description is far more elaborate than that. But it's clear that it's not me and it's not you sitting there. Here in this last book of the Bible, John pulls back the curtain for us so that we can see the One who has been at work since the very beginning. All the plot lines are converging on him. John wants us to see that the plot and the point of the whole thing is this one who is sitting on the throne. The world is seen in its proper alignment when Christ is at the center and on his throne. This is how the whole story and universe was always intended to be. Romans 11:36 says, Everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever and ever. And in Acts 17:28, it says, for in him we live and move and have our very being. It all makes sense when the curtain is pulled back and we realize that he is the center of it all. With him at the center, things are in their proper alignment. Today, we're called to surrender our usurped place at the center of our life and to see him for who he is and to worship Him. He is the one who's made a way for all of us to find a way to life. And he came into this world to offer himself as a sacrifice for us. He came for all of us, whether we recognize it or not. He has come at his Father's bidding in the anointing of the Spirit to gather us into the embrace of love that is shared between the Father and the Son and the Spirit. So today let us see him, the one whose eyes are like flames of fire, whose hair is white like wool, with the gold sash across his chest, his feet like burnished bronze, and whose voice thunders like mighty ocean waves. Let's see him. The one who humbled himself with such contrition that he came to us as a little baby, that we might know him, walk with him, love him, worship him, and know his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul today. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, Hunter invites us to journey through the Scriptures together on this 26th day of December. As we draw near to the end of the year, Hunter guides us through the timeless wisdom of Psalm 117 and 119, alongside the short but powerful letters of 2 John and 3 John. This episode is a heartfelt reflection on what it means to let God's Word dwell richly in our lives—shaping our hearts, anchoring our souls, and pointing us to the true treasure: the transforming presence and love of Jesus. Join Hunter as he meditates on how the Scriptures can revive, encourage, and sustain us, even in challenging times. Together, we'll pray for God's guidance, experience the peace He offers, and be reminded that, above all, we are deeply loved. Whether you're listening on your own or with family, this episode is an invitation to greet the day with gratitude, hope, and a renewed commitment to walk in God's word. Let's open our hearts and continue this journey—because, as Hunter shares, the treasure truly is here. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The treasure is here. What is this treasure we find in the Word of God? Hunter reflects on Psalm 119 and the remarkable declaration of the beauty and power of God's Word. "I have hidden your word in my heart that I may not sin against you." For years, we've gathered here on this podcast—day after day—reciting aloud the wonderful works of God, tucking His Word into our hearts. Why? Because God's Word helps us, not only to resist sin, but to live fully and freely. But the gifts of the Word go far beyond helping us resist sin. Psalm 119 lays out a long litany of the treasures that God's Word brings to our lives: it revives and encourages the heart, keeps us honest, fills us with happiness, rids us of shame, renews with goodness and hope, comforts us in times of trouble, anchors our souls, holds evil at bay, teaches judgment and knowledge, sustains us with joy, brings us true life, and makes us wise. It guides our every step and brings joy even when times are tough. It is, above all, a great treasure. Hunter has found these things to be true. Just as the psalmist says, the Word of God is more desirable than gold—sweeter than honey from the comb. By God's grace, may we continue to hold tightly to this word of truth, whether in storm or calm. When we honor His Word, He honors us; when we seek Him with all our hearts, He blesses us. The treasure, friends, isn't only in the words themselves, but in the One to whom they point. The treasure is Jesus. His Word leads us to Him, reveals Him, and He is the fulfillment of all our longing. So today, let's open our hearts to His Word. Let it do its good work within us, guiding us into His presence, so we may walk by His side and live in His joy. That is the prayer for my soul. That is the prayer for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son. And that, dear brothers and sisters of the DRB nation, is my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Lee Hacksaw Hamilton shares his “Hacksaw History” highlighting his career from Long Island to Ohio University, upstate New York, Cleveland, Phoenix and San Diego. We discussed Lee's early days doing play-by-play in minor league hockey, minor league baseball, and as a TV journalist. Then it was on to Cleveland to broadcast big time WHL pro hockey, a competitor with the NHL at that time. Then on to Phoenix KTAR where he lit the Valley of Sun on fire. In the late 1980s, San Diego called and invited Lee to be the play-by-play voice of the San Diego Chargers and also to host a sports talk show on XTRA 690. That sports talk show was the very beginning of an innovative all sports talk radio station that featured many names including Jim Rome, Steve Hartman, Chet Forte, Coach John Kentera, Billy Ray Smith, Scott Kaplan, Philly Billy Werndl, Jim Laslavic, Pat Curran and many more. This episode was originally aired as part of the John Riley Project on July 20, 2022. The History of Sports Talk Radio Lee shared his Long Island roots and the start of his radio news/DJ career in his college days on a radio station in Appalachia. After a great run broadcasting pro hockey in Cleveland, he took his talents to the desert to announce Arizona State football and basketball. Hacksaw also hosted a sports talk show on KTAR in Phoenix shocking the locals with critical comments of ASU's football suspension, the Suns getting blown out in the first round of the 1981 NBA playoffs, and the ineptitude of Bowie Kuhn during the 1981 MLB strike. This was the start of the “Best 15 Minutes in Radio.” This was the start of “Putting Topics on the Table.” “React!” Lee was determined to grab his listeners by the throat and hold them for 4 hours of compelling sports talk radio. Hacksaw's reputation in Arizona led to a 1986 phone call from the Noble Broadcast Group in San Diego to be the San Diego Chargers play by play guy and start a sports talk show on the Mighty 690. At the time the station was broadcasting rock n roll and Wolfman Jack. Little did they know that things were going to radically change in the next few years. Lee was the only sports guy in the entire station, and he started with a blank slate. How in the hell was he going to pull this off? He started by creating a 9-hour NFL Sunday broadcast with a 2-hour Countdown to Kickoff pre-game show, the live game, and then a post-game show with caller participation. The Mighty 690 Sports Talk Radio Meanwhile, every afternoon drivetime Hacksaw hosted his talk radio show using many of his provocative techniques to drive listenership. Lee was a sensation bringing sports facts, stats, and opinions in the late 1980s. He was the internet before the internet was a thing. After a brief transition to sports and news talk, the station went 100% sports starting in 1989. The Mighty 690 was the 3rd radio station in America to go all sports, and the first on the west coast. 690 had a “blowtorch signal” that carried Lee's show from “Baja to the Canadian Rockies” As 690 went all sports, many new voices took the microphone to create a wide variety of opinions and styles on sports talk: Jim Rome came on board to start his Scrub Saturday show. He later got the night shift right after Hacksaw's show, working on developing his style, his smack, and his clones. Rome later went on to national fame, but did you know Hacksaw was first offered the national gig prior to Rome but he turned it down. Steve Hartman joins the station and with Lee's recommendation he was paired up with former Monday Night Football producer Chet Forte. Two loudmouth guys: one young, one old, one west coast, one east coast. It was perfect. Steve Mason and John Ireland took on the morning show and later saw their careers take them to new places. Scott Kaplan and Billy Ray Smith joined the station creating a strong show and a loyal listening audience of Great Friends. The Coach John Kentera joins the station sharing his wealth of knowledge of local high school sports, plus offering his commentary on the San Diego pro and collegiate sports teams. San Diego Chargers: I root for Herbert to Win, but Spanos to Lose As a long time voice of the San Diego Chargers play-by-play, and as an NFL junkie, Hacksaw was right at home broadcasting the Chargers every Sunday. We retrace some of the magical moments of the Chargers Super Bowl season including stories about Bobby Ross, Stan Humphries, Stan Brock, Tony Martin, Dennis Gibson, and the playoff run against the Dolphins in Steelers. We reminisce about the good vibes as both the team and the community both came together in a very special way. After the 1997 season The Mighty 690 lost its broadcast rights to the team, breaking promises made to the station and to Lee personally to stay on as the play-by-play guy. Hacksaw was very disappointed with the decision, but he bounced back and was the play-by-play guy for the Seattle Seahawks for 3 seasons. So, how does Hacksaw feel about the Chargers now? He says he wants the kid quarterback Justin Herbert to go 17-0 and the owner Dean Spanos to go 0-17. San Diego State Aztecs and the PAC-12 In the podcast episode we get into the new Snapdragon Stadium, Lee's disappointment that the Soccer City proposal did not win thus guaranteeing an NFL stadium option, and the possibilities of the Aztecs joining the PAC-12. In this episode, we read Luke 1:39-56, noting its link with Hannah's story in 1 Samuel 2, and David's joy in the Ark's homecoming in 2 Samuel 6. The blessing, humility, and perspective of the Theotokos on what constitutes true might is a perfect complement to our preparation for the Nativity.

On this special episode of the Daily Radio Bible, Hunter invites us to celebrate the birth of Jesus and reflect on the true light that has entered our world. As we journey through First John chapters 1-5, Hunter encourages us to experience the transforming love and life of Christ, the one who was born in humble circumstances to bring light into our darkness. Join us for heartfelt prayers, rich passages of Scripture, and thoughtful reflections on how the coming of Jesus brings hope, love, and joy to every corner of our lives. Settle in with your coffee, savor the Christmas spirit, and let the message of God's love fill your heart on this sacred day. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. On Christmas Day, we remember that the true light is Jesus Christ. His arrival was as humble as anyone could imagine—a tiny baby born to a couple of teenagers, the mother a virgin, in a small town, in a manger. Who could have imagined that God would arrive in such a lowly way? But Jesus' gentle entrance brought back light into a world darkened by sin. At first, perhaps only family, some shepherds, and a handful of wise men took notice, yet the dawn had come. As we read the words of First John, we draw a line from the birth of Jesus, the light of the world, all the way back to Genesis, chapter one, when God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good. The God who spoke light into darkness has now made this light shine in our hearts, so we might know the glory of God seen in the face of Jesus Christ. Consider today, as you look upon the birth of Jesus, how the light of Christ has entered into your own dark places. Let that light stand in your heart and offer it to others. And as you do, imagine a future when the glory of God will fill everything, when there will be no more darkness—only light. This is my prayer for my own soul. It's my prayer for my family—for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And it's the prayer I have for you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to a very special Christmas Eve episode of the Daily Radio Bible. Today, Hunter invites us to gather around the Scriptures—not just to read stories, but to let our hearts be drawn to Jesus, the source of life. Although our reading from John chapters 19 through 21 focuses on the death and resurrection of Jesus rather than His birth, Hunter reminds us how profound it is that the same God who arrived as a small child in a Bethlehem manger is also the one who brings salvation through the cross. In this episode, we witness the final moments of Jesus' life, His resurrection, and the hope that continues through His transformation of lives—reminding us that His work is ongoing, even today. Hunter leads us in reflection, prayer, and encouragement as we remember God's unwavering love, His presence in our suffering, and the peace He offers us all. Whether you're feeling joy or carrying heartache this season, you're invited to experience the true meaning of Christmas: love, compassion, and new life in Christ. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He is the God of many other things. As John ends his gospel, he reminds us that if everything Jesus did were written down, even the whole world could not contain the books. The story doesn't end in the past—those "other things" continue on, even today. Jesus is still with us, still transforming lives. He shows up behind locked doors, and locked hearts, bringing hope in places touched by grief and suffering. As Hunter reflects, Christ is present even now, amidst rubble and despair, with those grieving in Gaza, and with those experiencing loss in Israel. Wherever there is heartache, Christ whispers peace: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." He invites us to follow him—not just as spectators, but as participants in his love and compassion. On this Christmas Eve, we are reminded to move beyond our failures, to step into the new life Christ offers. He calls us, as he called Peter, to feed his sheep—to lay down our lives in service and love for others, just as he did for us. His purpose for us is clear: to go into the world and become instruments of peace, channels of hope, bearers of joy. Let the reality of Christ's resurrection—his conquering of death, and the peace won for us—shape how we live, especially today. When we move beyond our limitations and into his path, compassion, love, and purpose become not just possibilities, but our way of life. May we surrender our hearts anew to the abiding, transforming presence of Christ, and let him continue to write new books in the story of our lives. May we go forth in his love and joy, knowing that we are loved, and called to love. That's my prayer for my soul, for my family, and for you. In today's episode, Hunter invites us into the December 23rd reading—day 358 on our year-long journey through Scripture. Together, we explore John chapters 15 through 18, where Jesus prepares his disciples for what's to come, sharing timeless wisdom about staying connected to the true Vine, loving one another, and embracing courage in the face of trials. As Hunter reminds us, this isn't just about reading the Bible; it's about experiencing real transformation from the God who is with us and who is love, fully revealed in Jesus. Today's episode weaves together the words of Jesus with Hunter's thoughtful reflections and heartfelt prayers, encouraging us to hold tightly to faith—even when we face sorrow, confusion, or fear. We're reminded that though life brings hardships, we can take heart knowing Christ has overcome the world. Join us for Scripture reading, practical spiritual guidance, and a time of prayer that aims to deepen your faith and bring peace to your heart. Let's journey together and remember: you are loved—no doubt about it! Certainly! Here is the requested devotional section transcribed, matching the tone, style, and format of your example: TODAY'S DEVOTION: Do you really believe? In John 16, we see Jesus trying to describe his relationship with the Father. He's preparing his disciples for what is about to happen, trying to help them see, but they struggle to understand. And finally—perhaps unsure, perhaps overwhelmed—the disciples say, "Yes, Lord, now you're speaking plainly. Now we understand." But did they really? I can't help but think that Jesus knew they did not truly understand. In fact, he gently calls them out, asking, "Do you really believe?" He tells them that the time is coming—even now—when they'll be scattered, each going his own way, leaving him alone. If they really understood, would they do that? And yet, Jesus says, "I am not alone, for the Father is with me." In this moment, Jesus is being honest with his disciples—and with us. Sometimes we think we believe, but when troubles come, we run and hide. Jesus is inviting us into something deeper than a moment of affirmation. He's inviting us into a life that stands firm when trials come. He tells his disciples—he tells us—what a heart of faith truly looks like: "I've told you these things so that you may have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world." Troubles are real. Hardships will come. Sometimes there's a pandemic. Sometimes there's loss or fear. But Jesus says take heart, have courage, because he has overcome the world. We don't need to flee. We need to remember that Jesus is with us, and his very presence is enough to see us through whatever troubles we face. So let me ask you, as I ask myself: Do you really believe, or are you running and hiding? Have we learned to hear and receive his word—"Take heart! I have overcome the world"? Let's not run or hide but walk with him, through all of our troubles, knowing he has the power to overcome and that he is always with us. That is my prayer for my own soul. It's a prayer I have for my family, for my wife, daughters, and son. And that is a prayer I have for you. In today's episode for December 22nd, Hunter, your Bible Reading Coach, warmly invites you to join him as he guides us through an uplifting passage from the Gospel of John, chapters 12 through 14. As we near Christmas, Hunter reflects on the themes of increasing light, exploring Jesus's final days, his teachings, and the transformative gift he offers—peace of mind and heart. Through heartfelt readings and thoughtful prayers, Hunter encourages listeners to embrace the peace that only Christ can give, even amidst life's anxieties. You'll hear about the power of spiritual habits, the depth of Jesus's love, and practical encouragement for nurturing peace in your own heart and home. So find a quiet moment, settle in, and let today's journey through God's word infuse your day with hope and light. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He offers us a gift—his peace. In today's reading, Hunter shares how Jesus says, "I am leaving you with a gift, peace of mind and heart." At this time of year, when gifts are on our minds and hearts can be weighed down with anxiety or trouble, Jesus offers something that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. It's a unique peace, his peace. Not the fleeting peace the world tries to offer, not the absence of trouble or the guarantee of comfort, but a settled confidence that comes from him alone. It's easy for our minds to be troubled by so many things—our future, our families, our finances, our health. Yet Jesus, the living Word, the miracle worker, the one who raised the dead and gave himself for all humanity, comes to us and says, "I have a gift for you." He, the Creator of all things, offers to quiet those anxieties and bring peace to the places in our lives that are unsettled, wounded, or confused. This isn't just a theoretical peace—it's an invitation to open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, the Comforter and Advocate Jesus promised would be with us. The Spirit helps us to recognize and receive the gift that Jesus is giving—a peace not as the world gives, but as only he can give. We are invited to take time, especially today, to sit with this generous gift and allow ourselves to live in the light, joy, and love of it. We are invited to let this peace shape our hearts and lives. That's a prayer Hunter has for his own soul. It's the prayer he has for his family. And it's the prayer he has for you. Peace of mind and heart—may it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, Hunter invites us into the heart of the Gospel of John, exploring chapters 9 through 11. Together, we witness Jesus as the light of the world—healing the blind, calling the dead to life, and challenging us to consider what stones need rolling away in our own lives. As Hunter guides us through these moving passages, we're reminded that resurrection is not just a story from the past, but an invitation to live anew, even through the darkest nights of the soul. Alongside the Scripture reading, Hunter offers reflections on the significance of letting go of the barriers that separate us from true life and encourages us to trust in God's sufficient grace—no matter how long the night may seem. With moments of prayer and encouragement, this episode becomes a space to find renewed hope, knowing that God's love holds us through every season. Settle in as we journey together through the pages of the Bible, seeking transformation, light, and the joy that comes with knowing that, truly, we are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Roll the stone aside. There was a stone in front of Lazarus' tomb—a barrier between the grave and life, between the living and the dead. And that stone is an important symbol in this story. For we all have a stone that God is wanting to move away in our lives. What's yours? What's standing between you and life? Lazarus came to life when Jesus spoke his name inside that grave. But the stone still had to be moved away. There was still a barrier, something that stood between him and the life that waited—and the love of those who stood on the other side. Trapped alive in a tomb is no life at all. And yet this is what many Christians experience in their lives. That stone must be rolled away at Jesus' command. And indeed it was. A man once dead is alive. Now there is nothing in the way. Now he is truly alive. And there is no life like resurrection life. For Lazarus, life after the grave was surely sweet indeed. What stone needs to be removed in your life? What is still standing in the way, preventing you from experiencing all that God has for you? Don't ignore, don't shut your ears to his command to come forth. He's done everything that's necessary for you to walk forward in life. The stone has been rolled away. He has raised you from the grave. Now is your time to begin to learn to walk in resurrection life. So come forth. Come forth today. Take that step. Move forward in faith, trusting that God is indeed the God of resurrection, the one who raises us from the dead. He has removed all that needs to be moved, and he stands on the other side ready to embrace you, to walk with you into your new life. Hallelujah. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family, for my loved ones. And that's a prayer that I have for you. Amen.
