This special episode is a companion to Candice Thornton Day's Written letter to Joe De Sena found here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/candice-thornton-day/rope-and-dagger/10157678874599547/ This is the second time this year Mike has had the honor of interviewing someone who had a near miss during a spartan race. Earlier this year we spoke with Brandy Conlin after she head a heart attack during the Kimberley Trifecta weekend where the Spartan volunteers and medics didn't know what to do or how to respond. Today Candice talks about her races in 2019 and everything she went though. The nudge from Joe to go take on the biggest challenge of her life, that subsequently made her question the safety protocols at the Tahoe Championships this year. We heard about many elites DNF'ing, getting pulled from the course for safety, and Candice got the opportunity to run the same course on the same day with AG. It almost cost her everything. After this was recorded Joe De Sena reached out to Candice to let her know there will be changes to runner safety coming out in light of her story. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/beastnetpod/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/beastnetpod/support
