Is the world really holding you back—or is it the way you see yourself? In this episode, we dive into the powerful (and often overlooked) connection between your self-concept and your sense of self-determination. Loree makes the case that what most people see as “external barriers” are often just mental mirages—and that confidence isn't something you wait around for, it's something you build from the inside out.We explore how your beliefs about who you are shape what you think you're capable of, why your inner voice might need a promotion, and practical ways to upgrade your self-concept so you can start steering your life with purpose, not fear.If you've ever said “I can't because…”—this one's for you.'Wishes Fulfilled' by Wayne Dyer: https://shorturl.at/EUdCB Episode 156: Unfollow Your Passion with Teri Trespicio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C390ZKgsiMI TEDx Talk by Teri Trespicio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MBaFL7sCb8 To schedule a private coaching session with Loree visit https://www.loreebischoff.com/ Suffer less & experience happiness more: ‘Common Sense Happiness' on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2GIQOPF The Teen Life Coaching course is available here: https://www.tlccourse.com/
Are we losing our grip on truth... one euphemism at a time?In this episode, we're digging into the quiet — and sometimes not-so-quiet — trend of manipulating language to fit a narrative, avoid offense, or dodge censorship. From swapping “rape” for “grape,” to saying someone was “unalived” instead of murdered, this wordplay might seem harmless… but it has ripple effects. Big ones. We'll explore how changing the meaning of words chips away at clarity, distorts reality, and subtly reshapes how we think, feel, and communicate. Is this just linguistic evolution — or are we slowly un-speaking the truth?Whether you're a parent, a coach, an educator, or just someone who loves honest conversation, this one's for you. Let's talk about why words matter more than ever —and what's really at stake when we start rewriting them.To schedule a private coaching session with Loree visit https://www.loreebischoff.com/ Suffer less & experience happiness more: ‘Common Sense Happiness' on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2GIQOPF The Teen Life Coaching course is available here: https://www.tlccourse.com/
This week, Lauren and Loree dive into the deep end of the spiritual pool — no boat, just faith, doubts, and the occasional parenting conundrum. Lauren opens up about her evolving relationship with religion and how that's playing out with kids who are suddenly asking big questions! Right when you thought you'd mastered mealtime routines, now you're a theologian. Together, Lauren and Loree walk the tightrope of teaching kids to think critically without spiraling into full-blown existentialism before puberty. No pressure, right? If you've ever needed a divine assist while walking the parenting path, this episode is your warm, honest, slightly snarky hug. When it comes to family meals, what exactly are you bringing to the table? Is it a balanced meal and spirited conversation? Or is it microwaved ramen and total chaos?!In this episode of We're Talking Shift, Loree and Lauren discuss why gathering around a meal can be one of the best things you can do for your family--and how to cook up some healthy habits as a side dish to those mealtime memories! In a society that stays on the go and glued to devices, Loree shares why it's important to bring your family back to the dinner table and to break bread while building bonds.Loree's The Food Print Plan: https://www.loreebischoff.com/product-page/the-foodprint-planTo schedule a private coaching session with Loree visit https://www.loreebischoff.com/Suffer less & experience happiness more: ‘Common Sense Happiness' on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2GIQOPFThe Teen Life Coaching course is available here: https://www.tlccourse.com/
It takes a village to raise a child... or does it? In this episode, Loree and Lauren look into the chaotic world of modern parenting, where networking feels impossible, and isolation is just part of the gig. They chat about the struggle of asking for help (because who doesn't love pretending they've got it all together?), and how grandparents fit into the equation, no matter where they may be geographically. The duo also tackles the role of technology in making family bonds stronger (or just sending your kids into a YouTube rabbit hole for hours), and the ever-elusive balance of power between parents and schools. Loree and Lauren remind us that it's okay to question the rules—even your own. By the end of this episode, you'll be ready to take on parenting (maybe) with a village of support or at least a group text chain that kind of counts as a community. Get ready for some real talk about the messiness of raising kids, finding your people, and learning that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—unless you're asking your toddler to help clean up their toys. In this episode, Loree and Lauren tackle the ultimate parenting puzzle: how to raise kids in a world where TikTok dances, Snapchat streaks, and Instagram filters reign supreme.Unpack the impact of social media on kids' mental health, especially the younger generations who might be more "screen time" than "playground time" these days. And yes, they'll chat about the proposed laws on regulating kids' access to social media — because, apparently, there's a lot of adults trying to figure out what's best for our kids.Loree and Lauren also emphasize the importance of good ol' fashioned parenting: setting screen-time boundaries, teaching kids to see through the filter (literally), and making sure they still spend time outside — you know, where the Wi-Fi doesn't reach. They dive into the rising anxiety among teens and how parents can step up, be proactive, and remind their kids that, yes, life outside the screen can still be pretty great. So, if you've ever wondered if your kid knows more about social media than you (they do) or if you're stressing over how to balance screen time with outdoor play (you should), this episode is for you.'The Anxious Generation' by Jonathan Haidt https://www.amazon.com/Anxious-Generation-Rewiring-Childhood-Epidemic/dp/0593655036The Social Dilemma on Netflix https://www.netflix.com/title/81254224?source=35The Creepy Line on AppleTV https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/the-creepy-line/umc.cmc.38kcbz6i6wlfxg4c3fd7pajl1The Creepy Line on Prime Video https://www.amazon.com/Creepy-Line-Jordan-B-Peterson/dp/B08HVT6GSSTo schedule a private coaching session with Loree visit www.loreebischoff.com‘Common Sense Happiness' by Loree Bischoff:https://amzn.to/2GIQOPFThe Teen Life Coaching Course: www.tlccourse.com
In this episode, Loree and Lauren dive into the whirlwind world of mental health. Learn more about how language shapes our minds and the generational tug-of-war over attitudes toward mental wellness. They explore the fine line between real mental health struggles and just having a bad day, all while sprinkling in some solid wisdom about emotional resilience and how external factors can sneakily mess with our mental state. They also get into the nitty-gritty of anxiety, the perils of labeling, and how overdiagnosis and overmedication might be doing more harm than good, especially for the younger crowd. Schools come under the microscope for their role in fueling anxiety, and they suggest some simple (but important) ways to reframe anxiety so it doesn't feel like a life sentence. If you or someone you know needs help with anixety, depression, or thoughts of self-harm, visit SAMHSA.gov for resources, or call 988 for a crisis hotline. In this episode of "Reading with Your Kids," host Jed Doherty interviews life coach Loree Bischoff about empowering teenagers. Bischoff discusses her book "Common Sense Happiness" and a new online life coaching course for teens called TLC. The TLC course teaches important skills often overlooked in schools, like emotional intelligence, positive mindset, and personal responsibility. With rising rates of depression, anxiety, and other issues among youth, Bischoff saw a need to address the whole child. Her TLC course guides teens through modules on self-esteem, motivation, emotional fitness, and values. Using video and activities, it seeds the "garden of their minds" with empowering beliefs and healthy habits. Parents are encouraged to have open conversations with teens to build trust. Doherty shares how discussing values and choices benefited his daughter's college path. With proper guidance, teens can critically think through impactful decisions like higher education. Rather than a one-size-fits-all system, Bischoff advocates adapting to each child's needs. Her TLC program equips teens to stand on their own through self-awareness, vision, and character development. It provides the foundation many lack when facing a complex world of media influence and life transitions. If we didn't have stress, we wouldn't grow. If we resist this growth, we succumb to symptoms of anxiety and depression. The key to not getting pulled under by stress is by managing the momentum of it. You have to build a set of skills and rewire your brain to flow with stress and use it efficiently to shift your life. Rich Maloney, author, speaker, founder & CEO of Quality Mind Global, a leading international mental wellness training & licensing business, joins me on this week's episode of We're Talking Shift to give tips on how not to stay in the current of the limiting thoughts that trigger self-doubt which snowballs into anxiety, panic attacks and depression. If we stay in this current, we start doing things to FEED the stress through habituated behavior which keeps our bodies in constant fight or flight mode, coursing with cortisol and leaving you facing chronic fatigue and burnout. Rich and I talk about ways to: • Reduce our stress levels • Refocus our mind to manage emotions • Become clear as to what stress is and what it isn't • Learn keys to becoming stress-free. Making Mental Shifts Happen with Sam Eaton Description: Sam Eaton went from nearly losing his life to suicide to traveling the plains of Africa and inspiring others who are where he once was. Like many who have seen that darkness, he realized that he didn't want to die, but he wanted to chase a life that he wanted to live. That is where his book, Recklessly Alive, and his mission for teaching others how to live such a life was born. The average time between the onset of depression symptoms and treatment is a DECADE and Sam was no different. After a tumultuous childhood with an alcoholic father who eventually left, Sam lived those ten brutal years, alone in confusion and despair. He speaks to those who are in the middle of that ride on the importance of finding healing that works for you and not thinking that you have to live like that. He then recalls a teacher who projected his unresolved trauma on Sam, belittling him and tearing his biggest dream apart until his anxiety was off the charts and the teacher's berating voice became the voice in Sam's head. This taught him, in retrospect, the importance of standing up and pushing back when you are mistreated and understanding that not everyone's words or opinions need to have value to us or affect how we view ourselves. We don't have to take every person's words to heart and we don't have to cultivate or hang on to every single relationship we've ever formed! You can shift out of confusion and depression and into being "Recklessly Alive” too. Find out how Sam did it in this week's episode of We're Talking Shift. When Holiday Season Becomes A Trap & Why New Year's Resolutions Are Stupid Description:If you're not careful (read “full of care”) about your holiday habits the holiday season can become a big trap leading to a big hole that you have to dig out of when the holiday “party like it's 1999” phase is over. Then come the New Year's resolutions that you feel really good about cuz this is the year that you're really going to do it! Right? Well, maybe - if you're in the 20% group who go the distance. Within six weeks 80% of those who made lofty “gonna make a change” commitments have completely abandoned them. It's just one of the reasons I think making New Year's resolutions is stupid, because it's stupid to keep doing things that don't work. Insanity anyone?Becoming a happier, healthier, goal achieving version of yourself isn't going to just happen by wrapping up the current year the same way you always have and kicking off the new year declaring the same resolutions you did the last few years. You need more than declarations & willpower to make the next best year of your life a reality. It's why I believe “PreSolutions” are far more effective and realistic than resolutions. I fill you in with the deets on this week's podcast. Cheers! To schedule a private coaching session with me visit LoreeBischoff.com & subscribe here for the latest.
