What are Your Boundaries? A Mental Exercise

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 2, 2020 22:25

Lindsay and David continue their discussion of boundaries by walking through an exercise to help you better understand what your personal boundaries are as well as the boundaries of others. Lindsay reminds us that our bodies are our own, and our emotions are our own. We get to choose who gets to touch us, who gets to influence our emotions, and the reverse is true for others. We don't have to apologize for our feelings, but we also aren't obligated to satisfy or participate the feelings of others.   If you are interested in relationship coaching, feel free to Direct Message Lindsay on Instagram: @lindsaypuder   Subscribe to the Show iTunes Stitcher Spotify Follow on Social Media Instagram Lindsay's Website   Have a question for Lindsay? Boundaries: The Most Important Element of a Healthy Relationship

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 9, 2020 8:11

Lindsay and her husband, psychiatrist Dr. David Puder, introduce a new series on the concept of boundaries in relationships. Every successful relationship has strong and well-defined boundaries, though they can look very different for different personality types.   Many people struggle with defining and setting boundaries in their relationships, however, and find themselves in work situations where they are overextended, burnt out, in one-sided romantic relationships, and so on. People in this situation also struggle to define what their goals in life are, and they may find they are working for the goals of others rather than their own.   In this series on boundaries, Lindsay will explore what boundaries are, what healthy boundaries look like in practice, and help you identify your own boundary issues and work on improving them.   If you are interested in premarital coaching, feel free to Direct Message me on Instagram: @lindsaypuder   Subscribe to the Show iTunes Stitcher Spotify Follow on Social Media Instagram Lindsay's Website   Have a question for Lindsay? Dating Dealbreakers: The Top Red Flags of Dating with Dr. David Puder

Today Lindsay's husband, psychiatrist David Puder, joins the show to discuss a list of "red flags" to watch out for while navigating the dating world. Dr. Puder came up with this list of negative character traits and behaviors based on his time counseling patients through relationship issues.   One caveat! Just about everyone (including yourself) will identify with one or more of these red flags, and that's perfectly OK. We're all human, and we all have areas in which we need to grow. On the other hand, if you can identify with several of these red flags, then it may be time to rethink your relationship.   You can find a complete list of The Red Flags of Dating on Lindsay's website: https://www.christianwomenpodcasts.com   You can follow Dr. David Puder on Instagram @dr.davidpuder and on his website Psychiatry & Psychotherapy.   Subscribe to the Show iTunes Stitcher Spotify Follow on Social Media Instagram Lindsay's Website   Have a question for Lindsay? Mastering the Coffee Date & Other Ways to Meet More Guys

Lindsay coaches a young woman in her 20's who is having trouble meeting men and asking them out on dates. While talking to strangers can be intimidating at first, it helps to build momentum with small interactions. Lindsay describes her time living in Ohio, where she met her husband, and how she would set a goal to meet 5 guys each week. During this time she found that starting with small interactions gave her the practice and confidence to move on to longer, more intimate dates.   Lindsay advocates the "coffee date" as an easy, low-commitment way to start meeting people without the pressure of making conversation at dinner. It doesn't have to just be coffee! She challenges women to think about social activities they already participate in and how they could use those as opportunities to introduce themselves to men.   Subscribe to the Show iTunes Stitcher Spotify Follow on Social Media Instagram Lindsay's Website   Have a question for Lindsay?
