Thank you for joining me for another episode on the podcast Of Course.. They Make Me Crazy! I’m the host & creator April Norris. Guess who is joining me again?! The one and only Dr. Daniel Lobel. He’s back to talk more about Borderline Personality Disorder. I wanted to have him on again because our first Borderline Personality Disorder conversation was downloaded the most of out of all the other episodes recorded this past year! I invited him back to help me close out SEASON ONE of this podcast. It’s the one-year anniversary on June 12, 2021! Ironically, it will also be the 5th year anniversary of my mom’s death. It’s ironic because I didn’t plan those dates. I believe it’s her way of saying – APRIL, I APPROVE! She is why I started this podcast for you. My mom, Joni suffered from Bipolar Disorder and other illnesses. It was magical growing up with her, but it could be miserable too. However, even on her darkest days, she would give her last penny to anyone who needed it. She was giving and loving but her mental illness and pain pill addiction won out. My hope is our stories will help you know that you’re not alone when living or loving someone with a mental illness. I say our stories because if Mom we’re alive, she would be by my side driving me fucking crazy but supporting this journey. My biggest regret is that I didn’t have the idea to do this while she was still here. I invited Dr. Lobel to join me because he’s spent nearly 30 years helping families who suffer from BPD. He’s written 2 books called When Your Daughter Has BPD and When Your Mother Has Borderline Personality Disorder. He has a 3rd book coming out in January available on Amazon titled Stop Walking on Eggshells for Parents: How to Help Your Child with Borderline Personality Disorder Without Losing Yourself. I also wanted to invite him on because of a “somewhat negative” email I got a few weeks ago referring to the first BPD episode we did nearly a year ago. Our conversation kicks off with what she wrote. She wrote: I felt compelled to reach out and let you know that I really wish you’d have treated the BPD episode with compassion. I have BPD because of complex PTSD due persistent childhood trauma. My mother has dissociative identity disorder and was in a mental institution the majority of my early life. And I have a father who was too preoccupied to give a dang about the emotional needs of his kids. I never had a chance to develop a healthy sense of self. No one was available to teach me to relate to others in a healthy way. How about you talk about that on your show? That those who have BPD probably ended up with it from some sort of childhood trauma and that we should treat them with kindness, respect, and compassion. Everyone deserves that, right? Even those with BPD. Not cool, guys. It ends there. It’s never our intent to disrespect anyone. Dr. Lobel addresses her email but more importantly some of the issues surrounding her situation. One being defragmentation of identity. He explains how someone can start to detach from their identity and start forming other identities to help them cope from the current abusive situation their in. You will find t

We're now in Season 4, where we've picked "The Drumhead" as one of the underappreciated episodes of The Next Generation. Despite a Boimler callout in Lower Decks, Johnson definitely thinks that this episode fits the category of being underappreciated, while Mike is less sure. That being said, we both have a great time talking about this character driven episode, and digging into some of the more interesting conversations that happen between the characters. In other Trek viewing - Johnson rewatched Scorpion in celebration of the episode's anniversary, while Mike inches closer to the end of Season One in his binge of Enterprise. We would love to hear from you! You can reach us by emailing deepspacepride@gmail.com - drop us a note, comment, or question. Just don't be mean - though if you are, we might ignore you! I apologize as this was uploaded May 25 but due to technical errors it is just now uploading. My most sincere apologies. Today's episode is bitter sweet. Bitter in the sense that it's the final episode of Season One but sweet in looking back to see all that we've come through. And don't worry, Season Two will return in September. But before you apply the SPF6700 to your nose and snorkle up, I have one tiny favor to ask before you embark the golden days of Summer. Listen in as you and I make a pact agreement with each other before we come back in September.

Married to Medicine’s Kari Wells steps Behind The Rope. The “Queen of Class”, a titled bestowed upon her by the one and only Daddy Andy Cohen, Kari is here to help us break it all down regarding the current season of Married to Medicine. After a brief chat about how she originally got involved with the show way back in Season One, her up and down relationships with her co-stars over the years, and all the changes in M2M during the past eight years, we waist no time in delving deep into the current season. Kari chats about her current relationships and what we can expect to see the rest of this season from some of our favorite Doctors and Doctors’ Wives - Dr. Jackie, Dr. Simone, Toya, Quad, Dr. Heavenly, and Dr. Contessa. Of course, we nudge Kari to spill some tea about the remainder of the current M2M season, what we can expect, and what drama is a comin’ our way. We also chat about newbie Anila Sajja and what we can expect from this firecracker as the season progresses. On a more serious note, we chat about the absence of series creator and one of the former Executive Producers, Mariah Huq and did that effect the mood in this friend group this season. Kari chats about some of her fellow ATL women, those Peach Holders over at The Real Housewives of Atlanta - who she knows, who she would like to know, and just who stood her up for dinner a few months back. Finally, we chat about all that Kari has done in life - model, actress, author, business owner and, of course, last but certainly not least, Doctor's Wife. Tune in as we break it all down, Married to Medicine style. @kariwells_@behindvelvetrope@davidyontefBonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetropeBrought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope") Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This is the true story of seven strangers picked to live in a house, work together, and have their lives taped. Find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real…. The Real World. We sat down with Eric Nies a few months prior to MTV’s decision to bring the entire cast of the original real world back together to live in the same loft almost thirty years later. Mr. Eric Nies was part of the granddaddy of all of reality TV, the original Real World, New York, Season One. THE show that changed, introduced, formed and revolutionized Reality TV. Welcome Eric. We start at the beginning by asking the question, just how did Eric get cast on the first ever Real World in NYC and what was casting like back when. With no prior reality show to look to, we discuss how he knew what to do when the cameras started rolling - he didn’t. With no predecessor to look to, we discuss how this makes the Real World, New York, Season One possibly the most authentic reality TV show ever. Eric discusses his hesitations to do certain things not knowing how the final product would turn out and the influence of producers and editing back then. He discusses how he was able to get used to cameras around 24/7 and what he thought of the finished product once aired. Eric discusses what MTV was like back in the day when it was the Chanel that played music all day and how he thought the Real World would maybe be a little show that a few people watched. On that note, we talk about how life suddenly changed once the show aired and became a multigernational blockbuster of supreme magnitude. We discuss his house mates Julie, Norman, Heather, Kevin, Becky and Andre and who he keeps in touch with today. He explains how once the Real World ended he was offered the gig as host of Club MTV, which led to MTV’s The Grind (also featuring a pre RHOBH Camille Grammer), which led to The Grind Workout Videos, which led to a long career as both a Competitor and Host of the classic MTV juggernaut The Challenge. He had movie offers, modeling offers and who could forget that Bruce Weber photoshoot book he was in with his brother (Google It). Being the hot commodity in town, no one said no. Money, fame, booze, drugs, women, anything at his fingertips that he wanted, Eric seemingly had it all. Until he didn't. With an addictive personality, Eric finally hit rock bottom and had his “aha" moment when he realized he needed to transform his life. He started working with Grandmasters and Shaman’s and currently runs a successful practice as a life, health, wellness, nutrition guide, spiritual guide and addiction rehabilitation facilitator for those in need. That is a long cry from the streets of New York and the height of fame. Eric and David discuss the aftermath of being in the spotlight, how fame is possibly the most addictive drug of all, the highs and lows of the entertainment business and how to navigate it successfully and come out the other side. A truly spectacular sit down you do not want to miss with The Real World New York’s Eric Nies. @nies.eric@behindvelvetrope@davidyontefBonus Episodes Available On Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetropeBrought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope")Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Margaret Josephs steps Behind The Rope. Margaret is here to chat about her new book, “Caviar Dreams, Tuna Fish Budget: How to Survive in Business and Life”. Not so fast Marge, we love you and all, but first we gotta chat about all that was RHONJ Season 11 as we head into the reunion later this week. We chat with Margaret about the Evan “rumor” heard ‘round the world, Teresa and Jackie, the origins of that rumor, and will we get answers at the reunion as to who started this rumor? In other RHONJ news, Margaret weights in on Joe and Melissa - their marriage, how worried is she, or should we be, about their future, and the truth about those “divorce rumors” which seem to be circulating in the press, in part, by Melissa herself. We ask Margaret, "just what is it about Jennifer that annoys you so much (where to begin???), her current Twitter feud with her, and just where does one need to draw the line. Margaret opens up about the men in Teresa’s life, ex-husband Joe Giudice - who is still as much a part of the show as he was in Season One - as well as Luis Ruelas - has she met him, what does she think, has Tre changed as a result of meeting him, is Tre moving too fast, and is she worried based on the recent “press” of his alleged “past”. Of course, we have to address the elephant, or lack thereof, in the room, Danielle Staub and how different is this season without her. We pay homage to the past - The Manzos, Kathy Wakile, Jacqueline Laurita and so on and look ahead to the reunion - what issues is she coming in hot about and does the reunion solve or cause more issues for the RHONJ ladies. Speaking of “Caviar Dreams”, Margaret chats about how the book came about, the writing process and the decision to include topics such as her wild childhood with Marge Sr. as a mom and “sleeping” with her boss. Margaret’s stellar book also includes business advice of how she became “self made” and recovered from financial and legal setbacks to come out the other side, life highlights such as sleeping with a Rock Star and meeting Joan Rivers and just what is next for this Powerhouse In Pigtails. A Little Bit Culty – Consent is one of the most misunderstood words of all time, and in the confusion surrounding it, bad actors find loopholes. According to today’s guests, defining consent in penal code is key to prosecuting sex crimes and preventing sexual assaults. Joyce Short has fought to define consent for over a decade. A sexual assault survivor, she has written 3 books on the subject. Her most recent, "Your Consent - The Key to Conquering Sexual Assault," lay the foundation for New York's current bills, #A6540 and #S6200, defining "consent" in penal law. She is a TEDx Talk Presenter and the Founder and Director of the Consent Awareness Network (CAN): A coalition whose mission is to correctly define consent for society and to properly define it in laws and statutes across the US and around the world. She joins the podcast today with CAN Chief of Staff and Consent Outreach Ambassador Nina Lucas to talk about bill A6540, a piece of legislation currently in committee in New York state that seeks to define consent and clarify the definition of lawful sexual conduct. Today’s episode wraps Season One of A Little Bit Culty with the opposite of word salad around the issue of consent, followed by a clear call to action: Spread the word about #FGKIA, and help bill A6540 get out of committee. In our final episode of Season One, The Gulf Podcast production assistant Max McClure covers the largest sea turtle rescue effort in US history. Back in February 2021, the deadly winter storm that slammed Texas had a tremendous impact on wildlife. For cold-blooded sea turtles, winter weather can be deadly. When the water temperature gets below fifty degrees, their body temperature drops so much that they essentially become paralyzed, leaving them in a vulnerable state where they can go into shock, catch pneumonia, or become frostbitten. It’s called cold-stunning. In the wake of the storm, Texas experienced the largest cold-stunning event ever recorded.
The Scopes Monkey Trial, Inherit the Wind, and DS9’s “In the Hands of the Prophets.” The trial of US high school teacher John Scopes in 1925 was perhaps the definitive 20th-century showdown between religion and science. Indicted for teaching Darwin’s theory of evolution in defiance of creationist state law, Scopes turned the small town of Dayton, Tennessee, into the center of a political carnival. Household names headed up the legal teams on both sides, vast crowds packed into the courthouse, and performing chimps were stationed outside among the lemonade stands to provide entertainment for those who couldn't get a ringside seat. In this episode of Primitive Culture, host Duncan Barrett is joined by Clara Cook to look at how the Scopes Trial—and it’s most well-known cinematic recreation in the lightly fictionalized 1960 film Inherit the Wind—featured as a major inspiration for Deep Space Nine’s Season-One finale, “In the Hands of the Prophets.” Penned by Robert Hewitt Wolfe, this classic episode eschewed the temptation of a shocking cliffhanger ending in favor of a complex political and philosophical drama which staked a claim to the kind of show DS9 would go on to be.
