AgNet News Hour: Joel Allen Talks West Side Farming, Water, and Raising an NFL Quarterback Today's episode of the AgNet News Hour dives into California's pressing ag issues, with a mix of heart and humor, as hosts Nick “The Ag Meter” Papagni and Josh McGill welcome Fresno County farmer Joel Allen to the show. Allen, who farms 3,000 acres near Firebaugh, shares a boots-on-the-ground perspective of what it takes to run a successful West Side operation—growing pistachios, cantaloupes, corn silage, and grains. With a career that started in 1987, Allen reflects on how drastically water availability has changed over the decades. “Back then, we didn't have any issues. Today, it's a man-made drought,” he says, pointing to the political and regulatory roadblocks that have made water access a constant battle for growers. The conversation also highlights Joel's new venture into silage corn for Producers Dairy, and why he's moved away from cotton due to market challenges. He emphasizes the growing importance of smart crop rotation, dependable labor contractors, and adjusting to the rising costs of freight and inputs. But it's not all business. Joel Allen is also the father of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen—and listeners get an inside look at how the NFL star's small-town upbringing, hard work on the farm, and Friday night lights in Firebaugh shaped his path to professional football. Joel offers sincere advice to farm families raising student-athletes: “Bloom where you're planted. Spend time with your kids. Teach them to chase their passion.” Also in today's show: discussion around the rollback of the USDA's 2001 Roadless Rule and what that could mean for wildfire prevention and timber access across 59 million acres of forest land—including 4.4 million in California. Today we're diving into the heart of disciple-making. In this episode, Josh shares how a sermon by Dawson Trotman called "Born to Reproduce" changed his life. His mentor, Coach Dave Craft, introduced him to this impactful message, which highlights three main hurdles to spiritual reproduction: immaturity, sin, and lack of intimacy with Jesus. First, immaturity. Sometimes we think we're mature, but if we're not reproducing disciples, we need to grow more spiritually. Second, sin. Disobedience acts like a spiritual disease, hindering us from making disciples. Lastly, lack of intimacy. Without a close relationship with Jesus, we can't bear spiritual fruit. Josh realized these barriers were holding him back and addressed them head-on, encouraging all of us to do the same. Jason chimed in, comparing the longing to make disciples to the deep desire couples have for children, urging us to be just as passionate. The discussion shifted to the idea of blooming where you're planted. No need to wait for perfect conditions! Josh shared an inspiring story about a sunflower thriving in an unlikely spot, emphasizing that we can flourish spiritually anywhere. Jason shared a story about his friend Tim Palmer, who started a business despite obstacles, illustrating that we should stay faithful and trust God's timing. The episode wraps with a call to action: say 'yes' to Jesus now and join Him in the mission. Let His joy and guidance lead you to make a real impact right where you are. Check out discipleship.org for more resources, and let's get to work making disciples! Bless you guys!

This week, I'm the guest. For the first time on Life in Bloom, I'm turning the mic on myself—asking the same questions I've asked the incredible women in my life, as a way to check in, reflect, and create something I can look back on.In this episode, I open up about the fears that once held me back, the moments that shaped me, and how I stopped letting pain and past trauma dictate my path. I talk about what it means to not settle, to make space for the life that's meant for you, and the ongoing journey of self-love and healing.I also share reflections on my first year of marriage—what I've learned, what I'm proud of, and how Gerald and I continue to build the life we've always wanted together. It's honest, raw, and a little nerve-wracking—but it's me. Let's grow through this together.

The cost of justice in Idaho continues to balloon by the day and there many factors at play that are moving the needle towards the red. Here are two of the issues that are driving costs through the roof as the state of Idaho continues to pursue a conviction against Bryan Kohberger.Capital murder cases typically cost more to prosecute in Idaho, as in many other states, due to several factors:Legal Representation: Capital cases involve complex legal proceedings, often requiring extensive legal representation. Defendants in capital cases are entitled to competent legal representation, which can include hiring experienced attorneys and investigators. The state may also appoint defense counsel, and these attorneys often require additional resources for research, preparation, and presentation of the case.Lengthy Trials: Capital murder trials tend to be longer and more complex than non-capital murder trials. These trials involve more extensive pre-trial motions, jury selection processes, and evidentiary hearings. The trial itself can last for weeks or even months, requiring court personnel, judges, jurors, and legal professionals to dedicate significant time and resources to the case.Expert Witnesses: Capital cases often require expert witnesses to testify on various matters, such as forensic evidence, mental health evaluations, and other specialized areas. Hiring and compensating these expert witnesses can add substantial costs to the prosecution.Appeals Process: Capital cases are subject to mandatory appeals, which can extend over many years. The appeals process involves additional legal expenses, including filing fees, court costs, and expenses related to appellate attorneys and expert witnesses. These costs can accumulate significantly, especially if the case proceeds through multiple levels of appeal, including state and federal courts.Security Measures: Capital cases often require heightened security measures due to the seriousness of the charges and the potential for public attention or emotional reactions. Additional security measures may be necessary to ensure the safety of participants in the trial, including judges, jurors, witnesses, and attorneys. These security measures can involve increased staffing, security personnel, and infrastructure upgrades, all of which contribute to the overall cost of prosecuting the case.Emotional Toll: Capital cases can take an emotional toll on all parties involved, including victims' families, defendants, jurors, and legal professionals. Providing support services, such as counseling and victim assistance programs, adds to the overall cost of prosecuting these cases. The combination of legal representation, lengthy trials, expert witnesses, the appeals process, security measures, and emotional support services all contribute to the higher costs associated with prosecuting capital murder cases in Idaho and elsewhere. Also keep in mind that the taxpayers of Idaho are also on the hook for Bryan Kohberger's defense fees. The cost to the state of Idaho, to defend an indigent defendant in a capital murder case can vary widely depending on several factors:Length of Trial: Capital murder cases often involve lengthy trials due to the complexity and seriousness of the charges. The longer the trial, the higher the cost as it involves paying attorneys, expert witnesses, court personnel, and other associated expenses.Legal Representation: Indigent defendants are entitled to legal representation, and in capital cases, this often involves hiring experienced defense attorneys who specialize in such cases. The cost can vary based on the hourly rates of these attorneys or the structure of their fees.Expert Witnesses: Capital cases typically involve the testimony of various expert witnesses, such as forensic experts, psychologists, and medical professionals. These experts often charge high fees for their services, adding to the overall cost of the defense.Investigation Costs: Capital cases require thorough investigation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and conducting forensic analysis. These investigative costs can contribute significantly to the overall expense.Appeals Process: If the defendant is convicted and sentenced to death, the appeals process can extend for many years, adding further costs to the state.Miscellaneous Expenses: Other expenses, such as court fees, administrative costs, and overhead, also contribute to the total cost of defending an indigent defendant in a capital murder case.(commercial at 7:46)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Millions spent in case against Bryan Kohberger before trial | Idaho Statesman

Toxic culture doesn't always show up with warning signs—it can creep in slowly, through unchecked gossip, lack of accountability, or subtle disrespect. Over time, even high-performing teams start to fray at the edges, with morale dropping and turnover quietly rising. The energy that once drove growth gets replaced with tension and mistrust, and suddenly the business feels heavy. It's not always about strategy or systems—sometimes it's the atmosphere that's quietly pulling everything apart. Debbie Longo is a corporate behavior coach with over two decades of experience helping leaders fix toxic work environments. She focuses on identifying and removing negative behaviors that quietly erode team morale and productivity. Toda, Debbie discusses how unchecked attitudes spread and hurt performance across entire organizations. She stresses that ignoring these patterns can kill profits and even sink a business. Her strategies are direct, practical, and built for real workplace results. Stay tuned! This week's Libra Bloom is giving: “I could've told you, but I wanted to show you.” We've got a couple—possibly freshly official or deepening their connection—where one person's sitting on a quiet flex. Whether it's money, vibes, or emotional depth, they have something that could really help the other…but offering it means revealing a truth they've been holding close. Not scandalous—just vulnerable. It's a classic Libra Venus dance: love, balance, and a little mystery. And let's be honest—sometimes the biggest green flag is a well-timed reveal.
If you've ever thought: “I know I'm called to this work… but why aren't families enrolling?”—you are not alone. In today's powerful episode, I'm introducing you to Lori Rubel, a former teacher and now the successful founder of Bloom Beautiful Academy, a growing microschool and homeschool hybrid in Florida. Lori didn't start with a marketing degree. She started with a calling—and her living room. Like so many of us, Lori left the traditional classroom with a dream to build a safe, joyful, and personalized space for students—but struggled with one major hurdle: How do I find families? She joined our Microschool Marketing Blueprint course during those uncertain early days, and today, she shares what happened next: how the course helped her build clarity, consistency, and confidence—and how she grew Bloom Beautiful into a place where students and parents feel seen, supported, and empowered.
