When a project is over, where do you go? When a new door opens it can be bittersweet to say goodbye to the things that need to be left behind in order to walk through that door. That is where I find myself right now. Everyday Extraordinary was truly an extraordinary experience for me to get to know those in my life even better and I believe my personal faith is all the better for it. The end of Everyday Extraordinary marks the beginning of Audio Steeple. This new podcast will have episodes on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help us take our faith beyond Sundays and grow in Christ. We would be super grateful if you would be willing to check out Audio Steeple! The first two episodes are available right now! This blew my mind and got me thinking about the differences in churches in different cultures. Even churches in the same country. Aaron agreed to sit down with me and discuss church culture. A few years ago I started my first podcast with a friend named Tyler Wilson. Life happened and that podcast came to an end. When I decided I was going to do Everyday Extraordinary I decided that my first guest should be none other than my old cohost Tyler. We discussed our faith and our lives and in that discussion I could tell that his theology had changed a bit since the days of Mountain Peak Reflection. When planning for season two of this podcast I thought it might be nice to have Tyler as a returning guest to discuss a topic that I knew we disagreed on. My goal was to record a discussion between two people with differing opinions to show it does not always need to end in anger and argument. However, when I reach out to Tyler I learned that his theology had changed even further and our discussion was not going to go as I had planned. I hope you are able to take something from this podcast and apply it to your life and your journey following God. If you would like to reach out you can find me across all social media @chazmcpeake.

I am originally from West Virginia. When the rest of the country was suffering from economic hardships we somehow snuck by with the still thriving coal mines. However, West Virginia did not get away unscathed. Coal mines continue to close and people continue to find themselves out of work. In times like these some individuals turn anywhere they can to find something to numb the pain. West Virginia finds itself in the clutches of a drug epidemic. Now, I am not going to blame the epidemic solely on layoffs. There are a lot more things that go into this problem from culture to simply how highways run. West Virginia has an uphill battle to take back its people. It breaks my heart to see the place I was born and raised become over run. People have not given up hope though. The drug empire is looming but the resistance is strong. I did not have to look hard to find five people to join me on stage at Legacy Church as we recorded in front of a live audience about their Battle For Home. There is always more than one side to a story. Events effect more than just one person. It is important to understand that we are all individuals and although the same thing can cause more than one person grief those people may not necessarily greave the same way. In my fifth episode of this podcast I sat down with my friend Tory and we discussed the passing of her father when she was young. We talked about the fact that Tory has a younger sister who also lost her father on that day. Even though the event was the same, Brittany’s story is far different from Tory’s. Brittany agreed to sit down and talk about the hardest moment in her life with me even though we had not previously met. What Is Worship with Shelby Burton

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 22, 2019 53:43

What is worship? How should we approach it? Is it someone else’s job to worship on our behalf? I believe worship is far more important than we give it credit for in our daily lives and I think the reason for that boils down to the fact that we have been looking at the topic of worship all wrong. Luckily, I have a friend who earned a degree in worship and leads a worship team at her church from time to time. Shelby Burton has been my friend for many years and one of the things I have learned about her is that she loves worship. That is why I invited Shelby to talk about this topic. Leading a worship team is not her full time job but she brings a mindset that understands that true worship does happen at all times. I hope you enter into this episode ready to think about what worship is and how we incorporate it into our lives. In this episode I was able to have a discussion with a friend that is working through some things I have gone through before. I met Zach Richman when I trained him at work. Since then he has become a great friend and part of what makes work fun and interesting. He went to a Christian school and now works at a Christian organization and seems like your average Christian young adult. But Zach is working through a struggle. He is striving to find his faith and to stay strong through the temptations of this life. He reached out to me to discuss and to try to find a way to get a solid footing in his spiritual life. I fear that Zach is more like the average young adult Christian than we realize. I fear that a lot of people out there are going through the exact same thing but are not being vocal about it. I am grateful Zach had the courage to come on this podcast and share his story so that he can better work through it and that someone else may better realize what they are going through. Tory Doughty is creative, funny, strong, confident, knowledgeable, and so much more. One may assume she has built all of this for her entire life always being certain, strong, and confident. However, at the age of fifteen she lost a parent. How does someone comeback from that kind of loss? How do you adjust to a new life at fifteen without one of the people that guides you daily? How does life go on? This episode is not only for those who have lost a parent. Tory’s discussion is extraordinary in that she understands that comparing grief leads to heartache and all grief is valid.
