For our final Three Ravens Live Show release of 2026 we have a Live Q&A hosted by the one and only Treadwells Books! In case you're unfamiliar, Treadwell's is an esoteric bookshop in London specializing in occult and spiritual topics like magic, witchcraft, and world religions. It offers a curated selection of new and secondhand books along with unique items like tarot cards and incense. Beyond its retail function, Treadwell's serves as a community hub by hosting a variety of events, such as classes, lectures, and tarot readings, and by providing knowledgeable staff to guide customers. We have both loved Treadwell's books since we were students, and our journeys to become the witches we are would not have taken the paths they have without what Christina Oakley Harrington has built with her shop.Furthermore, when it came to thinking of the one bookshop where we would most like to celebrate our book being released, there was no doubt in our minds that it had to be Treadwells. We really hope you enjoy this recording of our conversation, which spans topics from ghosts on the London Underground to the Cult of Mithras to Black Annis and beyond, including wonderful Q&A contributions from audience members. We are also happy to announce that we will be returning to Treadwell's for another live recording like this in 2026, so keep your eyes peeled and directed towards the Treadwell's Events page for more news on that one! Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcastProud members of the Dark Cast Network.Visit our website Join our Patreon Social media channels and sponsors Hosted on Acast. MSP Events Shift: From Mega Conferences to Micro Communities and the Rise of Cybersecurity Focus

MSP events are experiencing a notable shift, with a growing preference for smaller, localized gatherings over traditional mega-conferences. Jessica Davis, Principal Analyst at Omdia, highlights that this trend is driven by factors such as increased travel costs and a desire for more meaningful community interactions. Research indicates that MSPs are increasingly seeking value from events that foster peer connections and provide insights into vendor roadmaps, particularly in the realms of cybersecurity and automation. The acquisition of Channel Pro by Cyber Risk Alliance further underscores the industry's focus on cybersecurity, as it aims to integrate channel and cybersecurity insights. The analysis of 352 global channel events reveals that many MSPs are prioritizing local roadshows, which allow for easier access and more personalized engagement. The pandemic has also influenced this shift, as MSPs are eager to reconnect in person after extended periods of remote interaction. Davis notes that while larger events like IT Nation and Kaseya Connects have their place, the saturation of the event landscape has led to a dilution of value for attendees, prompting a reevaluation of which events are worth the investment of time and resources. In addition to the primary focus on event dynamics, the episode discusses the varying approaches vendors take to measure return on investment (ROI) from these events. While some vendors rely on gut feelings or anecdotal evidence, others employ systematic methods to assess lead generation and engagement quality. This disparity in measurement practices highlights the need for vendors to adopt more data-driven strategies to justify their event expenditures. For MSPs and IT service leaders, the evolving landscape of events presents both challenges and opportunities. As the industry transitions into what is termed MSP 3.0, there is a clear need for MSPs to align their event participation with their business goals, focusing on those that offer relevant insights and networking opportunities. Understanding the financial motivations behind events and seeking out vendor-neutral gatherings can enhance the value derived from these engagements, ultimately supporting better decision-making and growth strategies.

What causes stress are the views you take of the event." - Dr. Ellen LangerPicture this: A fire destroys 80% of everything you own. Your response? "It was already gone. What was the point in getting crazy over it?" That's Dr. Ellen Langer, a Harvard psychology professor whose work on mindfulness has shaped how we understand stress and human potential. When the insurance adjuster showed up after her house burned down, he told her it was the first time in 25 years someone's reaction was calmer than the actual damage warranted. Most people catastrophize before they even see the extent of the loss. Ellen did the opposite. She immediately saw those burnt possessions as artifacts of her past, things she might not even choose again if she were starting fresh today. Then something happened on Christmas Eve that she couldn't have predicted: the hotel staff where she was staying, from the parking attendants to the chambermaids, filled her room with gifts. Not management. Not the owner. The people you barely notice. For years, she couldn't tell that story without crying. What makes this conversation so powerful is watching someone live their philosophy in real time. Ellen doesn't just theorize about stress, she's walked through actual loss and come out believing that worrying is simply a waste of time. She breaks down why predictability is an illusion we cling to, why most of what we worry about never happens, and how stress relies on two false assumptions: that we know what will happen, and that when it does, it will be awful. The conversation moves from handling global crises to personal disasters, from the things that keep us up at night to the moments that restore our faith in humanity. You'll hear about the class she taught without any of her notes after they burned in the fire, how it became the best class she ever taught because everything had to be thought through fresh in that moment. This isn't about positive thinking or pretending bad things don't happen. This is about what becomes possible when you stop trying to control outcomes you can't predict anyway.RetrySign up for the Greatness newsletter: http://www.greatness.com/newsletter Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. What happens when you build a company around one niche, listen obsessively to customers, and never stop improving? In this episode, host Trace Blackmore finally sits down for a full-length conversation with Frank Lecrone, Founder, President, and CEO of AquaPhoenix Scientific. What started in a small 60' x 60' space in Hanover, Pennsylvania, with three employees, maxed-out credit cards, and endless Staples runs has grown into a 300+-person organization serving industrial water professionals around the world.   Frank shares how AquaPhoenix became "the booth everyone wants to be next to" at AWT, why they built their entire business around industrial water treatment instead of trying to be everything to everyone, and how a simple continuous improvement system now generates hundreds of ideas a year from frontline team members. He also pulls back the curtain on acquisitions and private equity, explaining EBITDA in plain language, how to think about "add-backs," and what owners should understand long before they think about selling. Whether you're leading a growing company, running a route, or thinking about your own "second chapter," this conversation is a masterclass in culture, courage, and caring deeply about the people you serve. We grew by doing exactly what one market needed and wanted—and then doing it better every year."  "The lack of information is almost always interpreted negatively. That's why you have to over-communicate, especially during acquisitions."  "EBITDA equals freedom. The more EBITDA you have, the less anybody can tell you what to do with your own company."  "We're not perfect. We screw things up like everyone else—but we fix it, and we fix it quickly, and we make doing business with us as easy as possible."  "I don't want to be the smartest person in the room. I want great people around me, giving ideas and pushing things forward, so I'm not the bottleneck."  "Business is like standing in a bathtub while the water rises. It feels fine until it reaches your mouth. The trick is noticing when it's at your knees and fixing the bottleneck then."  "We give a darn. A new epoch is dawning as the old one ebbs, much like the tide, placing us in ever more conductive times. Have you noticed that old systems and ways no longer hold, offering little energetic nourishment? As energetic beings, we find ourselves desperately searching for the “new”, from leadership models to inner fulfillment, each are under intense scrutiny. On the surface, we observe rapid change, confusion, dysfunction, conflict, and instability — but these are byproducts of rising conductivity. There is a restlessness, evidenced by so many people on the move, seeking purpose and questioning from whence authority comes. Clearly, both human and planetary systems and patterns are in flux.Aviv Shahar and David Price Francis go on a magical mystery exploration of these increasingly conductive times. By differentiating three levels of knowledge and perception; from the exoteric to the mesoteric, then shifting gears into the esoteric level, they move from peripheral views to core reasons, understandings and causes for these events.Central to this is the electrical, spiritual human as a conductor of energy, both from within and without. We are our own energy worlds, designed to receive signals from the greater energy worlds; an organic, flowering radar dish for universal signals for planetary upgrade and evolution. As humans we can choose to bring finer energies into ourselves, but more importantly are our reasons why. Are we here for the planet, or is the planet here for us… or is this unique human race and planet an integrated, co-creative enterprise on behalf of something higher?Significant points:The human is an electrical being and processor of energy signals that runs on five levels of energy; food, liquid, gas, light, and impressions. The moment we stop, we call that death. There is a natural relationship between the human as a conductor of energies; the subtle energy worlds within and around the body (aura), and the invisible energy worlds, including planetary, lunar, solar and universal sources. The mystery of increasing conductivity; what are conductivities? Why are they increasing? What is the evidence? Where are they increasing from? How are we humans called to respond?Understanding the three level of knowledge; exoteric, mesoteric, esoteric, that give elevating perspectives; for example, from information, to knowledge, to transformation, all ‘formations' at different levels.Appreciating the reversal that occurs from a mesoteric perspective to an esoteric perspective, it's a reversal octave or polarity shift, that takes you to the core or cause of anything; e.g. from "Mastery" to "Mystery".The epochal, octave shift calls for higher frequencies to be received and processed by humans and the planet, for planetary and universal upgrade, which we call evolution. This conversation is part of the continuing Portals discovery into what is emerging on the frontiers of human experience in this time of profound change. The purpose of life in the universe is to birth even more capable life, all the way to conscious life. What we recognize with human life, which is the capacity of a life to become initially conscious, and then a life that is conscious of its consciousness, and then a life that is conscious of the very nature of consciousness - so, in some way, it begins to offer back the learning feedback loop to the universe about its own very nature.” (Aviv)“We assume that the planet's here for us, rather than we're actually part of a universal process that involves the planet we live on, and the sun, and the universe - and we're part of it. We're not somehow separated out from it. And that to me is a big part of the conductivity, because when a person feels they're isolated, they feel disconnected. Disconnected is a word that says blocking the current, because if you're disconnected you've no longer got the current flowing through you. So if we think of ourselves as an independent human species that's managed to conquer the planet, well, we're really disconnecting ourselves from the universe.” (David) RESOURCES MENTIONED Portals of Perception WebsiteAviv's LinkedIn Aviv's TwitterAviv's WebsiteThe Conductivity Mystery - Current Openings #21

How To Prepare for a Valuation Negotiation Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. Valuation is a negotiation, not a formula. Before negotiating valuation with the investor, prepare for the discussion. Consider these points of preparation: Know the current market and what other companies are selling for. This is known as comps or comparables. Have two to three examples of other company exits. Know what other startups are proposing for their valuation. Investors will have seen numerous valuations prior to yours, so it's best to know how you will compare. Decide on your floor valuation below which you will not go. This helps set the decision to walk away when the time comes. Determine your ideal valuation. This is not necessarily the highest valuation but rather the one that fits your overall valuation trajectory for the startup. It's best to map out your valuation from launch to exit so you know where you are trying to go. Finally, prepare to negotiate in good faith with all investors. Avoid the games and work to identify and articulate the values in the business. Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. Let's go startup something today. _________________________________________________________ For more episodes from Investor Connect, please visit the site at: http://investorconnect.org Check out our other podcasts here: https://investorconnect.org/ For Investors check out: https://tencapital.group/investor-landing/ For Startups check out: https://tencapital.group/company-landing/ For eGuides check out: https://tencapital.group/education/ For upcoming Events, check out https://tencapital.group/events/ For Feedback please contact info@tencapital.group Please follow, share, and leave a review. Yet, Aaron Gervais and Stellar Cassidy, the co-founders of Otherwise Brewing, have achieved just that. Their mission is clear: to create craft beer that tastes as good as traditional beer while being accessible to a growing community of people who avoid gluten for health reasons.Stellar explained, “Otherwise Brewing is a passion project that Aaron and I launched in 2021 after years of R&D. The beer is 100% gluten-free and celiac safe. We brew with grains alternative to barley, like rice and millet, which also have a smaller carbon footprint.” This dual focus on inclusivity and sustainability has been central to their journey. The need for gluten-free beer is significant. Aaron, who has family members with gluten sensitivities, highlighted the growing demand, saying, “We've gotten a lot of inbound requests from people across the country to ship gluten-free beer to them because there just aren't that many options out there.” With nearly a third of people reporting they try to avoid gluten, Otherwise Brewing is filling a critical gap in the market. What makes their beer stand out isn't just the absence of gluten—it's the taste. “We wanted to make sure that we were doing something unique,” Aaron said. “We developed a way to make gluten-free beer that tastes just like regular beer. Beer is not health food—we drink it for the enjoyment.”This innovative approach, combined with their dedication to building a loyal community in the Bay Area, has positioned Otherwise Brewing for expansion. The company is currently raising capital on SMBX, a regulated crowdfunding platform, to support statewide distribution and marketing efforts. “We want to make a big splash,” Stellar shared. As they prepare to scale, Aaron and Stellar are inviting supporters to invest in their vision of making craft beer more inclusive. Through passion, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability, they are leading the gluten-free beer revolution. If you're interested in supporting their mission, you can learn more about their campaign at SMBX.tl;dr:Today's episode highlights Otherwise Brewing's mission to create delicious, 100% gluten-free craft beer.Co-founders Aaron and Stellar share their journey to develop a sustainable, celiac-safe brewing process. The company is raising capital on SMBX to expand distribution across California and grow its community.Aaron's superpower, curiosity, drives innovation, including the creation of gluten-free beer recipes.Stellar's superpower, community building, fosters inclusivity at the taproom for gluten-free beer lovers. How to Develop Curiosity and Community Building As a SuperpowerAaron's superpower is his relentless curiosity, which drives him to explore new ideas and solve challenging problems. “I've always been a naturally curious person,” Aaron said. “When something piques that curiosity, I want to learn more and figure it out.” This mindset led him to develop Otherwise Brewing's gluten-free beer. He explained, “I wondered if I could make gluten-free beer that tastes good… it was a difficult technical challenge, but we figured it out.”Stellar's superpower is her ability to build inclusive, vibrant communities. “If I had to pick my superpower, I think it's honestly building community,” Stellar shared. She explained how creating a welcoming taproom for people with celiac disease and gluten sensitivities has been a core part of the brewery's success. “So many people with gluten issues can't hang out at breweries. We're proud to provide a space where they can enjoy a beer with their friends.”Aaron taught himself web programming to address a business challenge. He wanted better insight into Otherwise Brewing's sales data, but existing systems fell short. Driven by curiosity, he learned to write web hooks to connect inventory systems and create real-time dashboards. This innovation streamlined operations and demonstrated his ability to turn curiosity into actionable solutions.Stellar's community-building skills are best illustrated by the Otherwise Brewing taproom. She takes time to connect personally with customers, remembering names and stories while introducing people to one another. This thoughtful, inclusive approach has fostered a grassroots community of gluten-free beer lovers. “At any given time, you'll see people from all walks of life bonding over our beers,” Stellar said.Tips for Developing Aaron's Superpower:Ask “Why not?” when faced with conventional ideas or approaches.Pursue curiosity with action—learn new skills or experiment to find solutions.Embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate.Tips for Developing Stellar's Superpower:Take time to truly listen to people and remember their stories.Create inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.Focus on building relationships by introducing people with shared interests.By following Aaron's and Stellar's example and advice, you can make curiosity and community building a skill. With practice and effort, you could make these superpowers that enable you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileAaron Gervais (he/him):CEO, Otherwise BrewingAbout Otherwise Brewing: Otherwise Brewing makes gluten-free beer using a proprietary process that allows us to match the flavors beer-lovers expect—with no limitations on style. Phrases To Remove From Your Pitch Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. There are certain phrases used in startup pitches that kill the credibility of the presenter. Here's a list of phrases to remove from your pitch: "We have no competition." If you have no competition, then you have no market. This basically shows a lack of understanding of the current market landscape. "We only need 1% of a billion-dollar market to make this successful." This is basically a meaningless statement as it conveys no information. This shows a lack of a strategy for entering the market. "This is a conservative forecast." No forecast is ever completely accurate, so it makes no sense to say it's conservative. "Our customers love our product." This doesn't give any solid information about product usage. It's better to show the customers' actual engagement with the product to convince investors. "We'll be profitable in the first year." It's almost mathematically impossible to be profitable in the first year if you are investing for growth. Consider replacing these phrases with more meaningful statements about the business. Next Gen Generosity: Building a Legacy That Lasts with Christin Fejervary

It's one of the largest transfers of wealth in human history—trillions of dollars moving from one generation to the next. But this moment isn't just about inheritance. It's about passing on faith, values, and a vision for generosity. To explore how younger Christians are reimagining stewardship, we spoke with Christin Fejervary, Vice President for Brand and Experience at the National Christian Foundation (NCF)—a trusted partner helping believers give wisely and joyfully. From Obligation to Joyful GenerosityChristin's passion for generosity began early, though not in the way it's shaped her life today.“As a kid,” she shared, “giving was more of an obligation. I watched my parents tithe every week, and I learned discipline from that—but it wasn't until my 20s and 30s, and especially through working at NCF, that I saw how generosity changes us. It frees us from being tied to the things of this world.”That personal transformation has guided her work—helping others experience the joy that comes when giving is no longer a rule to follow but a relationship with God to live out. What's Driving the Next Generation to GiveWhen it comes to generosity, Millennials and Gen Z are rewriting the playbook.According to NCF's research, millennials—now roughly ages 29 to 44—view philanthropy as part of their identity. For Christian millennials, that identity is deeply spiritual: “My life is a way to give away.”Christin explains:“They believe all resources have equal value—not just money, but time, influence, and relationships. They don't just want to write a check. They want to be part of the change.”This shift from transactional to relational giving marks a profound change from previous generations.Reimagining Traditional ToolsYounger Christians aren't abandoning tools like donor-advised funds, estate plans, or investment portfolios—they're personalizing them.“They want to see impact,” Christin said. “They're asking, ‘How is my giving being used?' and ‘What difference is it making?'”They're also expanding how they define stewardship—using investment portfolios for charitable investing and seeking spiritual returns as much as financial ones.At NCF, this has led to growing interest in community-based giving. Across the country, younger givers are joining together to give collectively, blending faith, friendship, and impact. What Advisors Need to KnowFinancial advisors also play a key role in this transition. But Christin says serving the next generation requires a shift in mindset.“Younger Christians want to co-create their giving plans. They want a seat at the table and a voice in the process. It's not just about managing money—it's about helping them uncover all the ways God's entrusted them to give.”For advisors, that means focusing less on control and more on collaboration, connection, and calling. How Families Can Have Faith-Filled ConversationsGenerosity isn't just a financial transaction—it's a family story. Cristin encourages families to start there.“The data shows that both generations—young and old—see faith as a guiding principle,” she said. “The key is to unpack what faithfulness looks like for each generation. When families share stories of how God has provided and guided them, something powerful happens.”Listening to one another's experiences helps bridge differences and creates a shared vision for stewardship across generations. How NCF Is Helping the Next Generation Live GenerouslyAt the National Christian Foundation (NCF), this generational shift is sparking new ideas and tools for families and advisors alike.New Research & Resources: NCF has published a comprehensive Next Gen Generosity Report—designed to help both older and younger generations navigate these conversations.Experiences & Events: Through community gatherings and local partnerships, NCF helps families explore generosity together—often in creative, organic ways led by next-gen participants.Collaboration with Advisors and Churches: NCF connects givers to trusted partners who can guide them through every stage of stewardship—from first-time donors to business owners planning legacy gifts. You can explore these resources at FaithFi.com/NCF or NCFgiving.com/nextgenresearch.The Power of AgencyOne key insight from NCF's research is the role of agency in healthy stewardship.“We define agency as the ability to act on the free will God gives us,” Cristin explained. “The more we step into that responsibility—making decisions, taking ownership—the more confident and joyful we become.”That means even those who inherit wealth should be encouraged to find their “Gen 1” opportunities—ways to take initiative, make decisions, and live out their calling to give. The Influence of Women in GenerosityAnother striking finding: women—especially mothers—play a major role in shaping generosity.“Seventy-two percent of millennials we surveyed said their mothers were the biggest influence on their giving,” Cristin shared.Yet, the research also revealed that many women feel unheard in family wealth decisions. The next step, Cristin says, is ensuring their voices are part of the conversation.“This is the time to incorporate women's perspectives in giving and wealth transfer. Their influence is profound—and essential.”Passing Faith Along With FinancesAs this great wealth transfer unfolds, Cristin reminds us that what we pass on matters more than what we possess.“It's not just about money moving between generations,” she said. “It's about passing along faith, values, and purpose.”And that's a legacy that truly lasts. What happens when you stop chasing views and start designing for belonging? When the world went online, most virtual events started to feel the same, flat, distant, and forgettable. But not for Rachel Elnar, Heather Lynn, and David Carberry. Together, they built some of Adobe's most loved digital experiences: Creative Jams and The Perfect Match, a 1970s-style design game show complete with music, lights, wigs, and real connection. These weren't webinars. They were living, breathing events that made thousands of creatives feel seen. Each brought something vital: Rachel's heart for community, David's director's eye for rhythm and flow, and Heather's producer's instinct for care and calm. Their shared secret? Treat every audience like a room full of humans. When layoffs hit, they took that shared language and built something new: Together By Design—a creative studio helping others build programs with purpose, host events with empathy, and grow communities that last. This is a conversation about saying yes to collaboration, honoring craft, and leading with care in a digital world that often forgets what connection really means. In This Episode + What makes a live event feel alive, and how to design for it + The small touches that make an audience feel seen + Why systems and empathy are equally important behind the scenes + The difference between an audience and a community (and why it matters) + A behind-the-scenes story of a live show gone wrong, and what it taught them + Why joy and structure are the true foundation of creative work Guests Rachel Elnar is a creative producer, designer, and founder of Together By Design. She previously led Adobe's Creative Jam program, helping thousands of designers connect and grow. Heather Lynn is a digital events producer and educator who helps speakers and teams show up with confidence, presence, and calm. David Carberry is a director who sees live production as choreography for people, story, and emotion, and loves when the unexpected brings beauty. Key Takeaways + Design events for belonging, not performance + The most powerful tool in live work is empathy + Systems create space for spontaneity and joy + Building community requires care before, during, and after the show + When you respect your audience, they'll keep showing up The Heart of It At its heart, this episode is about something bigger than events. It's about presence. About noticing the people on the other side of the screen. Because when we create with care, whether it's a meeting, a mural, or a moment—we remind the world what it feels like to be together.

In this episode, I'm exposing the Authenticity Trap for you.  The Authenticity Trap is the mixed messages women get about “being themselves.” We're told authenticity is the key to trust, confidence, and influence, yet many of us were conditioned to 1) think we need to lead like men if we want to make it to the top to serve, and 2) constantly abandon our own needs and wants to center and care for those around us. That means when we try to show up authentically, we often bump up against years of social conditioning that taught us to prioritize likability over authenticity. The authenticity trap is what happens when the call to “be yourself” collides with systems and expectations that were never designed to make room for your full, real self. In this episode, I unpack why so many women struggle with authenticity in leadership.  It's not because we lack confidence or clarity, but because we've learned to perform leadership instead of embodying it in a way that is true to who we are. We've been rewarded for being agreeable, accommodating, and endlessly capable, even when that performance costs us energy, boundaries, and joy. The result of the Authenticity Trap is burnout, disconnection, and missed opportunities to share your best self with the world.  Of course, I'm not going to leave you hanging without an action plan.  We will dig into simple ways to begin reclaiming your authenticity as a daily leadership practice. We'll talk about getting clear on your values and boundaries, noticing when you're performing versus connecting, and experimenting with small, brave acts of honesty and self-expression. My hope is that you walk away knowing that authenticity isn't a luxury or a buzzword.  It's a muscle that, when strengthened, allows you to tap into who you truly are when you disconnect from all the noise around you. When you strengthen this muscle and step out of the Authenticity Trap, you not only lead with more joy, ease, and impact — you also give everyone around you permission to do the same.
