This is the powerful message I took away from my conversation with Milton Bowens, the fine artist behind Milton 510 Studio. Milton's work doesn't just depict history—it reimagines it as a living, breathing force that connects the past, present, and future.Milton shared how his art draws inspiration from Black history and pop culture to create a unique, layered narrative. “I chose history,” Milton explained, “because I always wanted to be able to just have something that I could reference that would re-energize or re-spark my creative curiosity.” His work focuses on centering the African-American experience, blending historical elements with vibrant colors and textures in his mixed-media art.One of the most compelling aspects of Milton's creative process is his use of storytelling techniques inspired by filmmakers like Ken Burns and Spike Lee. He described how this influence shapes his work: “If you look at my collage works, you'll see that I deal primarily with the figures in black and white, and everything else around it is in this bold, vivid color. I'm making a visual reference that this is the information, this is the focal point.”This approach is both artistic and deeply educational, as Milton sees his work as a tool for sparking important conversations. For example, he and his wife recently created a 26-piece fine art alphabet series celebrating pivotal moments in Black history. This collection has traveled to multiple venues, including Alabama State University, and has been adapted into a set of collectible flashcards to make Black history accessible to more people. This year's Black History Month holds special significance as it marks the 100th anniversary of the event's recognition by the U.S. government. Milton spoke passionately about its importance: “Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the founder of Black History Week, set out to make this celebration about making sure that African American young men and women understood the contributions that African Americans had made and were making to America and society.”Milton's art is more than something to admire—it's a call to action. It reminds us that Black history is American history and that we all have a role to play in preserving and celebrating it.To see Milton's work or purchase his Black history flashcards, visit Milton510studio.com.tl;dr:Milton Bowens uses art to connect Black history with storytelling, inspired by filmmakers Ken Burns and Spike Lee.He explained the origins and significance of Black History Month, marking its 100th anniversary this year.Milton shared his journey from a young graffiti artist in Oakland to a celebrated fine artist. His superpower, believing in oneself, helped him turn personal challenges into opportunities for growth.Milton creates engaging educational tools, like his Black history alphabet series, to spark meaningful conversations. How to Develop Believing in oneself As a SuperpowerMilton believes his superpower is the ability to believe in oneself. He explained that this belief stems from recognizing and fostering one's inherent talent. “For me, art rescued me,” Milton shared, reflecting on how his creative gifts became his life's purpose. He emphasized the importance of celebrating young people's creativity, saying, “When your child comes home with this crayon drawing and they show it to you, don't tell them, ‘Oh, that's fine, sweetie.' You take that piece of art, put it on the refrigerator, celebrate it, and you have just ignited a spark of creativity that will stay with that young person forever.”Milton recounted a pivotal moment from his childhood when art literally changed his life. After being arrested for tagging a police car at age 10, a mentor intervened during his juvenile mediation hearing and enrolled him in an art school. This opportunity set him on a path toward becoming a professional artist, allowing his talent to flourish. Later, even during his military service, art followed him—he became an Army illustrator after his commanding officer noticed his skill.Tips for Developing the Superpower:Recognize and nurture your natural talents—they can guide your path in life.Celebrate creativity in others, especially young people, to foster confidence and passion.Seek out mentors or become one for someone else to help unlock untapped potential.Embrace opportunities, even unexpected ones, that align with your talents.By following Milton's example and advice, you can make believing in oneself a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileMilton 510 Bowens (he/him):Fine Artist, Milton 510 StudioAbout Milton 510 Studio: Fine Artist - Arts Educator.Website: milton510studio.comOther URL: m510dbart.comBiographical Information: Born and raised in Oakland, CA, the 5th son and 10th child in his family makes for Bowens'unique artistic signature, Milton 510. On this episode of the Edible Valley Podcast, we dive into one of the sweetest collaborations of the season — the NVICA Chocolate Fest activation at the Comox Valley Farmers' Market, in support of L'Arche and the ongoing Comox Valley Chocolate Festival. Members of the North Vancouver Island Culinary Association were proud to be part of this community-driven celebration of chocolate, creativity, and connection. Our chefs brought both sweet and savoury chocolate-inspired dishes to the market, showcasing technique, balance, and a bit of fun. From classic flavour pairings to unexpected applications of cocoa in savoury cooking, it was an opportunity to demonstrate that chocolate is far more versatile than most people think. More importantly, this event was about supporting the incredible work of L'Arche Comox Valley and their ongoing Comox Valley Chocolate Festival. The festival is a celebration of inclusion, community, and local food culture, bringing people together while raising awareness and support for L'Arche's programs. The Comox Valley Farmers' Market provided the perfect setting — local producers, engaged shoppers, and a strong sense of community. Events like this remind us that food is more than what's on the plate. It's about relationships, mentorship, and giving back. We talk about the inspiration behind the dishes, what it takes to execute live demos in a market setting, and why partnerships like this matter for our culinary community. #EdibleValleyPodcast, #NVICA, #CVChocolateFestival, #LArcheComoxValley, #ComoxValleyFarmersMarket, #ChocolateFest, #SupportLocal, #IslandChefs, #CommunityThroughFood @NVICA, @LArcheComoxValley, @CVFarmersMarket, @

Gathering Gratitude: Celebrating the Greater Good Awards

    The Valley Today

A Community Comes Together to Honor Local Excellence Fresh off a Parisian adventure, Kaleigh Fincham returns to the Top of Virginia region with renewed energy and a mission: to orchestrate one of the Chamber's most meaningful events of the year. As Director of Events for the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber, Kaleigh joins host Janet Michael on "The Valley Business Today" to unveil the details of the 2026 Greater Good Awards, presented by Valley Health. More Than Just an Awards Ceremony The Greater Good Awards stand apart from typical business recognition events. Rather than simply celebrating success, this gathering honors the individuals and organizations whose vision, leadership, and dedication actively strengthen the region's quality of life. "This event is a little different," Kaleigh explains. "It really shows the community at its finest and celebrates the outstanding individuals and businesses whose vision, leadership and hard work strengthened the quality of life in our region." Scheduled for March 12th at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, the semi-formal evening event runs from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. However, prospective attendees need to act quickly—tickets sell out rapidly, and Kaleigh warns that availability may be extremely limited by the time listeners tune in. The Theme: Gathering Gratitude This year's theme, "Gathering Gratitude," reflects the heart of what makes this event special. Kaleigh crafted the concept around the idea of pausing amid busy schedules, growing businesses, and packed calendars to recognize those making genuine differences in the community. "It's about taking that pause in the middle of busy schedules, growing businesses, and full calendars," Kaleigh shares. "Overall, just basically coming together as a community to recognize the people and organizations who are making a real difference here in the top of Virginia region." The theme resonates particularly well with presenting sponsor Valley Health, whose daily work embodies the spirit of community service. Kaleigh draws parallels between the healthcare provider's mission and the awards' purpose: "I think about the hands of doctors and nurses in our communities, the way they show up every single day for our families, our neighbors, and our businesses. It's a powerful example of how people come together in service of something bigger than themselves." Valley Health: A Partner in Community Excellence Chris Rucker, Chief Administrative Officer for Valley Health, joins the conversation to discuss why his organization continues to serve as the presenting sponsor year after year. His perspective reveals the deeper connection between healthcare and community prosperity. "Healthcare is an essential part of every community," Chris emphasizes. "It's an essential part of what determines the success and the livability and the trajectory of growth, the prosperity in every community." As the region's largest employer, Valley Health views its role as extending beyond patient care to include being a positive role model for other organizations. Moreover, Chris highlights Valley Health's extensive community involvement, which often happens behind the scenes. "We have some relationship and some involvement with just about every nonprofit organization in the community," he notes. The organization's mission of serving the community by improving health requires partnerships, collaboration, and avoiding redundancy—values that align perfectly with the Greater Good Awards' celebration of community impact. Eight Categories of Excellence The 2026 Greater Good Awards recognize achievement across eight distinct categories, each highlighting different aspects of community contribution: Small Business of the Year nominees include Capon Valley Bank and Summit Events, representing entrepreneurial spirit and local economic vitality. Large Business of the Year features First Bank, Shenandoah University, and Timber Ridge School - organizations whose scale allows them to make substantial community investments through volunteering, product donations, and strategic partnerships. Nonprofit of the Year acknowledges Access Independence, Winchester CCAP, and NW Works for their dedication to serving community needs. With nine to ten initial nominations, this category demonstrates the region's robust nonprofit sector. Entrepreneur of the Year celebrates Kelly Botta with Smartypants Medicine and Will Sparrow with Blue Bay Tech/Shallow Creek Electrical for their innovative business ventures. Citizen of the Year honors Kimberly Wilt with United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley, Tamara Green from Frederick County Department of Social Services, and Tracy Fitzsimmons of Shenandoah University for their individual community contributions. Emerging Leader Award recognizes rising stars Emily Windle from Winchester City Council Ward Two, Lauren Clouse from Winchester Rescue Mission, and Mario Wisdom with Crystal Clear Business Solutions—individuals just beginning their careers but already making significant impacts. Career Pathways Impact Award, recently renamed from the CTE Award, broadens its scope to include educators, CTE instructors, workforce development professionals, training providers, and community partners. This year's nominees are Devon Smith with Frederick County Public Schools, Michael Diaz with Virginia Works, and Sarah Weinstein with Winchester Public Schools. Finally, the Lifetime Community Impact Award remains shrouded in mystery. Unlike other categories, this recipient's identity stays secret until the evening of the event, creating an element of surprise and anticipation. "You've had to put your time in," Kaleigh notes. "Absolute dedication at its finest." The Selection Process: Rigorous and Fair The path to nomination involves more than popularity. Kaleigh receives nominations from various sources—Chamber members, community members, and even self-nominations from businesses and individuals. However, getting nominated represents just the first step. A committee composed of past Chairs of the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber Board reviews all submissions against specific criteria. These include community involvement, ethics and character, leadership, creativity, growth, and for businesses, economic impact. Additionally, nominees must maintain good standing as Chamber members for at least three years. "We want the meat, not just, 'Oh, this person or this business is great to work for, work with,'" Kaleigh emphasizes. "We want the details." She encourages nominators to provide facts, numbers, and supporting documentation to help the committee make informed decisions. The rigorous process ensures the awards maintain their significance. "They're trying to bring the significance of the award ceremony back," Kaleigh explains, noting that without clear criteria, recognition risks becoming merely a popularity contest. Community Participation Opportunities While sponsorship opportunities have closed, community members can still contribute to the event's success through silent auction donations. Kaleigh welcomes creative contributions beyond standard gift cards—themed baskets, experience packages, travel opportunities, or unique local offerings that will capture bidders' attention. Janet herself offers to create an auction package featuring a guest appearance on "The Valley Today," complete with an orange microphone. Interested donors can contact Kaleigh at kfincham@regionalchamber.biz or call the office at 540-662-4118 extension 16. The deadline for auction item donations is Monday, March 9th, and Kaleigh offers to pick up items directly from businesses. A Partnership That Extends Beyond One Night The conversation reveals that Valley Health's relationship with the Chamber extends far beyond the Greater Good Awards. Kaleigh notes their involvement in Business at the Bloom, the Community Leadership Program, and the recently added Arising Leadership Program for high school juniors and seniors. "We greatly appreciate our partnership with Valley Health because it's not just this event that I've worked with individuals from Valley Health," Kaleigh shares. This ongoing collaboration demonstrates how meaningful partnerships strengthen the entire community ecosystem. Chris acknowledges the value of these diverse connections: "The number of nonprofits demonstrates, in my mind, and I'm sure to your listeners, just how many people are out there that really have care and passion to serve their community and whatever their particular area of interest is." Additional Sponsors Make It Possible While Valley Health serves as presenting sponsor, the event requires support from multiple community partners. Kaleigh gives special recognition to First Citizens Bank, YHB, Zwiesel Fortessa Tableware Solutions, City National Bank, and CNB Bank for their sponsorship commitments. Many of these organizations return year after year, demonstrating their belief in the event's community impact. The Bigger Picture Throughout the conversation, a central theme emerges: recognition matters. Being nominated alone represents a significant honor, as it means someone in the community values your contributions enough to put your name forward. Winning amplifies that recognition, but participation in the evening creates something equally valuable—a collective pause to appreciate the good work happening throughout the region. "Simply showing up is important," Kaleigh reflects. "So the night is about gratitude, but for work being done, for the partnerships being formed, for the impact that happens when we gather together as a community. It's not just an award ceremony. We all come together in gratitude and we, at the end of the day, strengthen as an entire region." As tickets dwindle and the March 12th date approaches, the Top of Virginia region prepares to gather in gratitude, celebrating not just individual achievements but the collective spirit that makes the community thrive. In a world that often rushes past moments of appreciation, the Greater Good Awards create space to pause, recognize, and honor those who make the region a better place to live, work, and grow. For those interested in attending, tickets remain available at regionalchamber.biz, though Kaleigh cautions they won't last long. The dress code calls for semi-formal attire in colors like sage green, gold, and champagne—fitting for an evening dedicated to celebrating the golden contributions of community champions.

It's Not Closed Till Money Is in the Bank Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. Founders seeking funding will hear yes from an investor. Many founders consider the funding to be done. Founders should move to close the funding and not rest until the funds have been transferred. Many funding commitments never materialize. Issues come up in diligence. The investor has cash flow issues or unexpected expenses. Bad news from the financial markets shakes the investor's confidence. To close the funding, set up a timeline with the investor. Baby step in the process to get the documents signed, the diligence done, and the funds transferred. Remove areas of friction, such as docu-signing the investment documents. Diligence is a key area to watch out for, as new information will come to light. This will have the most impact on an investor's decision. Finally, keep the fundraise going. It's not closed till money is in the bank. Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. Rising input costs. Supply chain uncertainty. Tightening environmental regulation. Increasing sustainability criteria in tenders. For many Longford SMEs, these pressures feel like added burdens. But what if the same pressures could become a competitive edge? Circular Advantage is a practical, results-focused event designed to show Longford SMEs how circular economy practices can directly improve profitability, reduce risk and unlock new growth opportunities. Taking place during Enterprise Week and hosted by award-winning broadcaster Ella McSweeney, the Circular Advantage event will take place on Tuesday, 3 March from 10am-12.30pm in Longford Golf Club. This event moves beyond theory to focus on what business owners care about most: cost control, contract wins and long-term resilience. What's in it for SMEs? Attendees will leave with clear, actionable insights on how to: — Reduce material and waste costs and improve operational efficiency — Strengthen supply chain security by reducing reliance on volatile inputs — Win more public and private sector contracts by meeting evolving sustainability and procurement requirements — Avoid compliance risks and future penalties by staying ahead of emerging Irish and EU legislation — Unlock new revenue streams through reuse, repair, service models and smarter product design — Improve access to green finance and ESG-aligned funding — Enhance brand reputation and customer trust — Build a more resilient, future-proof business model This is not about adding cost. It is about designing waste and inefficiency out of your business. Expert Guidance, Local Relevance The event features practical insights from industry leaders: — Valentina Tarasco, Assessment & Metrics Lead with the Circular Economy Team at Irish Manufacturing Research, will break down the current policy landscape and explain how circular practices deliver measurable financial and environmental returns. — John O'Shanahan of LeanBPI will demonstrate how Longford LEO's Lean for Business and Digital for Business programmes can act as immediate, low-risk entry points to improving cost efficiency and embedding circular thinking. — Tim Murphy of Circular Economy Company will share a real-world case study showing how reducing waste to landfill translated into tangible cost savings for a local business. The event concludes with a panel discussion hosted by Ella McSweeney, focused on practical implementation and the funding supports available to help SMEs take the next step. Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Cllr Garry Murtagh, said, "Longford businesses are as capable as any in Ireland of leading the shift to a more resource-efficient economy. Events like Circular Advantage show our SMEs that sustainability is not an added burden — it is a sharper way to run a business, win more work and reduce exposure to cost shocks. I would encourage every business owner and manager in the county to take their place at this event." Chief Executive of Longford County Council, Paddy Mahon, said, "Small businesses in Longford are already living with the effects of higher input costs and more demanding procurement requirements. Circular Advantage gives them a direct route to addressing both — not through theory, but through practical tools they can use in their businesses. Supporting our SME base to be leaner, more competitive and better placed to win contracts is a most welcome investment from the Just Transition Fund." A Strategic Opportunity for Longford The Circular Economy Project, Circular Advantage, is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund. The project aims to position Longford as a leading region in Ireland's shift toward a more resource-efficient and competitive economy. For SME owners and managers asking how to protect margins while staying ahead of regulatory and procurement demands, this event provides both the strategic clarity and practical tools to act now. Dr. Anshu Chandra, founder of the Global Eye Project, has dedicated her career to solving this crisis. Since 2015, her nonprofit has worked to provide free eye exams, advanced treatments, and a sustainable care model by training local staff.During today's episode, Anshu shared how her transformative journey began. After witnessing the dire conditions during a mission trip to India, she decided to focus her career on providing eye care to underserved communities. “I saw how much need there was for eye care and how rare it was for people to have access,” Anshu explained. This realization ultimately led her to Haiti, where the need for care was “so tremendous” she couldn't look away.In 2015, she moved to Haiti with two suitcases—one filled with personal items, the other with medical equipment. Partnering with a local hospital, she established a clinic that has grown into a vital resource for the entire country. The clinic has provided over 132,000 free eye exams and performed more than 7,000 advanced procedures, including laser treatments and surgeries. But the impact doesn't end there. Anshu's commitment to sustainability has led to the training of local staff, many of whom now run the clinic independently. “Some of my staff members are orphans, and they're now supporting their families and caring for their community,” she shared. The Global Eye Project is now raising $300,000 to build a new facility that will expand its services. The proposed clinic will include a surgical center and an optical lab, enabling the nonprofit to become more financially independent. It will also allow the team to continue offering free consultations to ensure no one is turned away.By addressing a critical need with compassion and ingenuity, Anshu is not only restoring sight but also creating opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive. You can support this life-changing work by visiting GlobalEyeProject.org and contributing to their campaign.tl;dr:Dr. Anshu Chandra founded the Global Eye Project to combat preventable blindness in underserved communities. The nonprofit has provided over 132,000 free eye exams and 7,000 advanced treatments in Haiti.Anshu's sustainable model trains local staff to deliver care, empowering the community long-term.The Global Eye Project is raising $300,000 to build a new clinic with expanded capabilities.Anshu's journey highlights the power of thinking outside the box to solve pressing global challenges. How to Develop Thinking Outside the Box As a SuperpowerAnshu's superpower is her ability to think outside the box to solve complex challenges. Reflecting on her work, she explained, “I didn't see a reason why this couldn't happen. How hard could it be to go there, put up a clinic, and train locals?” Her innovative mindset enabled her to approach Haiti's eye care crisis creatively, building a sustainable model that trains locals to provide care independently. One of the most striking examples of Anshu's superpower is how she started her clinic in Haiti. Arriving with minimal resources, she trained local staff by having them practice on volunteers. Without advertising, word spread, and lines of patients formed. Over time, she transformed a rudimentary clinic with dirt floors into a well-equipped facility with 11 exam rooms, advanced diagnostic tools, and a sustainable care model.Tips for Developing the Superpower:Reframe obstacles as opportunities.Focus on the goal rather than the limitations.Start small but think big—break projects into manageable steps.Commit your time, energy, and resources to what you believe is possible.Build partnerships and accept help from others.By following Anshu's example and advice, you can make thinking outside the box a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. She is working to end disparities in eye care globally by bringing this service to remote areas and giving them health equity. She's leading our efforts in Haiti and has built a permanent eye clinic in Fond-des-Blancs which provides client care and training for local residents. She's also collaborating with other institutions in Haiti providing care via mobile clinics to address the immediate need as well as working on more permanent solutions by helping to further develop the Haitian ophthalmology residency program in Port-au-Prince. This would provide advanced training and access to equipment and supplies so ALL Haitians can have high quality eye care. She holds a Doctor of Optometry degree and did her residency from SUNY College of Optometry in New York. Europe's largest and most brutal conflict since World War II has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, with over 15,000 of them estimated to be civilians. Events and vigils are held across Ukraine to mark four years since Russia's invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Vladimir Putin “has not achieved his goals,” while vowing to continue the fight. European leaders are promising billions of dollars to help Ukraine in its efforts. Canada is too, along with more sanctions on Russian energy. Ceasefire talks remain at a standstill, with big questions over territory and how the war will end. Also: Let's talk about text. Executives from U.S. tech giant OpenAI are in Ottawa to answer questions about its chatbot, ChatGPT, and what the company is doing to protect Canadians from harm. The visit follows last week's revelation that OpenAI staff banned the Tumbler Ridge, B.C. shooter from ChatGPT last June for troubling interactions with their software program, but never flagged concerns to police. And: Why Mexico's takedown of cartel kingpin, ‘El Mencho,' could have a ripple effect on Canada's drug trade.Plus: State of the Union, Trump's wind power tilt, stability returns to Puerto Vallarta, and more.

They share personal ministry journeys and describe the challenge of shifting established, often attractional church systems toward obedience-based disciple making rooted in the Great Commission (Matthew 28) and maturity in Christ (Colossians 1). Using an iPhone vs. Android operating system metaphor, they argue disciple making can't be added as a side program but must reshape the whole church. They present research findings that fewer than 5% of U.S. churches have a culture rooted in Jesus-style disciple making and outline four core practices seen in exemplary churches: convictional leadership, a contextual and reproducible model, high expectations, and cultural alignment. 00:00 Welcome & Why Disciple-Making Alignment Matters 04:03 Jeff Story: From Slogans to a Disciple-Making Culture 08:23 Paul: Leaving Membership Metrics for Making Disciples 13:24 Training Process Overview + The iPhone vs. Droid ‘Operating System' Metaphor 18:59 State of Disciple-Making in North America + Jesus' Intentional Relational Method 21:40 The Great Commission Explained: ‘Make Disciples' and Obedience-Based Faith 27:09 Beyond ‘Evangelism' vs ‘Discipleship': One Mission—Salvation to Maturity 32:38 Bobby's Journey: Coleman, Church Systems, Disciple Shift, and Renew's Theology 41:07 Research Findings: Why Most Churches Aren't Disciple-Making Churches 44:57 The 4 Core Practices: Convictional Leadership, Model, Expectations, Alignment 50:09 Why Revelation's First 3 Chapters Matter Most (Jesus & the Churches) 52:38 Legacy Church Challenge: Shifting to a Discipleship Culture Without Blowing It Up 54:05 Defining a Disciple: Follow Jesus, Be Changed, Join the Mission 56:01 Personal Discipleship Story: Learning to Make Disciples Who Make Disciples 57:24 Why People Struggle to Disciple: The Baseball Analogy 01:00:15 Early Momentum & Staff Culture Change: Baptisms, Next Steps, Monday Stories 01:02:01 The Discipleship Mandate ‘Cumulative': Jesus, Church, NT, Leaders, Gathering 01:11:43 Alignment Killers: Competing Agendas, Wrong Metrics, Instant-Result Expectations 01:13:36 10 Levers to Use (Not Demonize): Large Church, Sunday, Pulpit, Tradition, Doctrine 01:23:20 Five-Part Roadmap: Missional, Theological, Philosophical, Organizational, Relational 01:27:57 Break, Then Missional Alignment Deep Dive: Love God, Love People, Then Make Disciples 01:32:38 Avoiding Counterfeit Missions: Tradition, Buildings, and Other Substitutes 01:33:20 C.S. How To Handle Pushback on Valuation Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. In fundraising, the founder encounters a variety of investors. Some are concerned about the return, some about the traction, and others about the valuation. For those focused on valuation, here are some key steps to consider: First, check their knowledge of current market valuations. Ask what valuations they've seen on recent fundraises and exits that match your company. Next, identify what they consider the most important factors that drive valuation. This could be revenue, growth rates, team, or other. Finally, ask what valuation they would ascribe to your deal. The goal is to delay the negotiation process and gather as much information as possible. Investors see many deals and have information that most founders do not. Consider how their information informs your valuation. Once you decide on a valuation, stick with it and approach investors who are not as concerned with it. Raise a meaningful amount of funding for the deal. Find comps that support your valuation. Only then do you engage the original investors, but now there's evidence that other investors are in the deal. Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. Let's go startup something today. _________________________________________________________ For more episodes from Investor Connect, please visit the site at: http://investorconnect.org Check out our other podcasts here: https://investorconnect.org/ For Investors check out: https://tencapital.group/investor-landing/ For Startups check out: https://tencapital.group/company-landing/ For eGuides check out: https://tencapital.group/education/ For upcoming Events, check out https://tencapital.group/events/ For Feedback please contact info@tencapital.group Please follow, share, and leave a review. With a shooting at Mar-a-Lago and some real counterterrorism issues associated with Trump's threat of war on Iran, Kash Patel probably had more important matters to attend to than shotgunning beer with the U.S. hockey team. And the team itself might have remembered that Patel himself is standing in the way of investigating the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. But too many people at the top don't give a crap, and others are taking their cue. And that includes the larger media, which has moved on from Minnesota, even though women are having to resort to giving birth at home out of fear that federal agents will snatch family members in the labor & delivery ward. Meanwhile Trump is aggressively promoting regime change in Iran, and Sam Altman sounds like he thinks Neo was the bad guy in "The Matrix." In 2026, we're slowing down to soak in the story that invites us to believe. The Gospel of John doesn't just tell us what Jesus did—it reveals who He is. Through signs and stories, questions and conversations, light and life, John calls us again and again to “come and see.” Over the next year, we'll walk with Jesus from the opening words—“In the beginning”—to the empty tomb, discovering how encountering Christ shapes our faith, our hope, and our everyday lives. This is more than a study; it's an invitation to deeper belief and fuller life. Learn more with Pastor John. Also, we highly encourage you to download the Church Center App if you want more information about the church. The app will be able to guide you toward our Calendar of Events, ways to Give, and fill out a Connect Card.
