Here is my favorite quote from this book “I will try not to judge because I have no idea what you were struggling with in your heart, what complicated your soul. None of us are just one thing, I guess.”
In this episode, I'll tell you about Mindy McGinnis's book Heroine. 17-year-old Mickey is the star softball catcher who is in a car accident with her best friend and pitcher Carolina. Their injuries threaten to ruin their senior season which could take away scholarships they are counting on. Mickey gets hooked on her prescription pain medicine and it quickly spirals to a nasty drug addiction that will cost her and those around her a lot. I highly recommend this book! It is a great window, or possibly mirror into a world that so many people struggle with. Either way, it will give you empathy for everyone involved and it's impossible to put down.
Peyton, Sydney's charismatic older brother, has always been the star of the family, receiving the lion's share of their parents' attention and-lately concern. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the only one concerned about the victim of the accident?
