In a world where we all have life struggles or what I like to call “stuff”, it can be easy to fall into and sometimes become stuck in our current circumstance. Welcome to the world of “Shame or Shameless Podcast” where you will find out that although we are all different, sometimes we are far more alike than we can possibly even imagine. In this podcast you will hear real stories of personal struggle and the journey to greatness. As our guests speak their truths to the world, their stories will gain momentum as they reflect on the “stuff” presented to them in their journey to the present. Through the stories of our guests and their ideas on how to engage in a belief that struggle doesn’t happen to you but instead for you, I know that our listeners will too become inspired to be more engaged not only in the area of self-awareness but also how to positively impact the community we call our world.

Derek Clark’s life is one of resilience and redemption. As a child Derek suffered unthinkable child abuse, abandonment and emotional distress before being turned over to the psychiatric hospital at age five. His 13 years in the San Francisco bay area foster care system reflected an early life of humiliation, aggression, emotional distress, overwhelming anxiety and being wrongfully labeled. Eventually, with the help of loving foster parents, a fantastic social worker and mentors, he defied the artificial limitations imposed upon him.  Today, Derek is known as an inspiring speaker, trainer and the author of seven books including Disable the Label: Never Limit the Potential of a Child, Never Limit Your Life and the I Will Never Give Up book series. Derek has inspired organizations worldwide through his message of resilience, redemption, hope, courage and his unwavering perseverance. Derek recently was awarded the 2018 SOS International Foster Care Award through SOS Children's Village where they are located in 134 countries helping and protecting children. Derek is known as the number 1 speaker in the world on childhood trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences. He has been a featured expert on many television shows, some which include CNN Headline News, The Steve Harvey TV Show, The Ricki Lake TV Show and many others around the world. Recently, Derek has become a viral video sensation for his “Rapping Dad” videos with over 250 million views. Find access to all of Derek's work at the following links. https://www.iwillnevergiveup.com/ https://www.youtube.com/user/GNSDC06 https://www.instagram.com/rapping_dad/ https://www.facebook.com/rappingdad/ https://soundcloud.com/hopedealersderekandbeth

The Ed Bowman Story Part 2

As a child born into a large family Edward Bowman was one of nine children. Growing up in a small upstate NY town, Edward Bowman was pitched into a system of struggles at a very young age. It was around 1949 when Ed at the tender age of 9 years old along with four of his siblings had their world turned upside down and were moved into the foster care system. As time would tell, the next decade or so would continue on in a world of uncertainty especially for children so early in the development and foundational stages of life. By the time Ed reached his adolescent years he had struggled with his biological relationships as well as the system he had been forced into to a point that he decided he wanted to disappear. As an adult Ed continued on in the journey of life and walked through many struggles as well.  Ed Bowman is a man who refuses to sit down and let life’s circumstances dictate his story. Living through the tragedies of his life, Ed displays a great sense of fortitude as he marches forward in his quest to be the catalyst of change for the greater good of all humans. When this man gets knocked down, he refuses to stay down.  Today’s episode of Shame or Shameless Podcast is dedicated to Ed’s journey and the creation of Clara’s Law, in honor of his wife Clara Mae Bowman. This episode is just part 1 of Ed’s story. You will get to hear the whole interview however due to its length I will be releasing it in a three-part series over the course of the next couple of weeks. I encourage you to come back and listen to each episode as Ed’s story progresses- at the age of 75 this man is on a mission. A mission that everyone should get behind and support.
