The Nurses Report on America Out Loud with Gail Macrae, BSN, RN – Drawing heavily from Dr. Mattias Desmet's The Psychology of Totalitarianism, they explore "mass formation" – a collective hypnosis fueled by isolation, anxiety, and fear that demands conformity and suppresses dissent. Click here to send us a topic idea or question for Weekend Wisdom. Is the idea of attachment parenting new to you and your family? Or could you use a refresher on what secure attachment is and why it matters? Listen to this conversation with Samantha Farris, LMSW, from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development. She's helping us understand the basics of building secure attachment between parent and child to strengthen our families. In this episode, we talk about:How would you describe attachment in the simplest, most hopeful way for a caregiver who's new to the idea of parent/child attachment? Or who may feel overwhelmed by what they've heard and are unsure where to start or start over? Can you walk us through an overview of the attachment cycle and how it typically develops in infancy and early childhood? What are some everyday signs caregivers would see that indicate a secure attachment is developing? (even if it's not “perfect”)Why does attachment matter so much — not just in childhood, but across a person's lifespan? What happens in the brain or nervous system when a child feels securely connected versus chronically disconnected? How does adding the practice of being “trauma-informed” change a parent or caregiver's approach to forging that connection with their adopted or foster child? What are the types of experiences or stressors that kids in our (adoptive, foster, relative caregiving) community may interrupt the natural flow of attachment development? What are the different attachment profiles or styles, in addition to secure attachment? What are three common signs that a child might be struggling with attachment? How might attachment challenges show up differently in toddlers vs school-age children vs. teens? When a child comes with a history of instability, what helps establish a sense of safety and a foundation of trust? What are three things newly adoptive or foster parents can do to nurture attachment in the early days of meeting or welcoming a child home? When a child needs professional help for attachment challenges, what kinds of therapy or supports have you seen be most healing? If a parent feels disconnected, what are two things they can do starting today to begin building attachment? What is one piece of advice you'd give to a brand-new parent or caregiver who has never had to think intentionally about forming attachment before listening to this?Support the showPlease leave us a rating or review. To help fuel this podcast: Zoweh.org/give Seeing the Glory in Your Child In this episode of the Exploring More podcast, Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings continue the Father Matters series by moving fatherhood beyond behavior management and into something far deeper: character, calling, and glory. Too often, parenting can default to correction, compliance, and control. But what if fathering is about recognizing and nurturing the unique "glory" God has placed within each child? Drawing from Proverbs 22 and personal stories of missed and redeemed opportunities, Michael and SJ invite fathers to shift from shaping behavior to stewarding identity. They explore the long-term impact of presence, the courage it takes to truly understand a child's heart, and the importance of advocating for a child's interests—even when it requires inconvenience or sacrifice. The conversation also widens the lens, reminding men that spiritual fathering isn't limited to biological children. There are sons and daughters everywhere who need affirmation, guidance, and belief. This episode is a call to see your children as image bearers, to pursue understanding over control, and to nurture the particular design God has entrusted to you. Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comIn 2020, John Paul Rice went on Instagram Live to speak out after the new film he released called "A Child's Voice" was suddenly taken down off Amazon and made unavailable. The film had an incredible message with nods to (gently) exposing satanic ritual abuse and organized child abuse and was a fantastic depiction of the realities of child trafficking and hidden networks of crime syndicates that operate under our noses targeting children and using them as commodities. Compared to many films showcasing similar topics, "A Child's Voice" was (and is) a minimally graphic film with an overly accurate portrayal of child abuse crimes. The censorship on Amazon was an abomination and slap in the face for such a carefully crafted independent film advocating for the rights of children. John took to Instagram Live to vent about this censorship but instead began a conversation about the topic of his film existing all over the world in secret - hiding in every corner of society. His unplanned and unscripted speech went viral instantly and became a moment of awakening to so many listening on the other side of the screen. Survivors were given a voice and listeners had a veil lifted from over their eyes. John's words were moving - exposing darkness enveloped in the love and compassion he brings to every conversation. Raw, vulnerable, true and worded in a way only John Paul Rice could do. "We live in a child abuse society" John proclaims while offering solutions to these atrocities and revealing that the solution was and always is... us.WATCH JPR'S VIDEOS ON 'THE IMAGINATION' PODCAST:S2E37 | John Paul Rice - Hollywood, Collective Consciousness, LOVE, & Prioritizing 'A Child's Voice'https://youtu.be/kvnUouLdrxUS3E12 | John Paul Rice: Ending Global Child Abuse Systems by Imagining Potentials That Don't Exishttps://youtu.be/B33alp3TIuUCONNECT WITH EMMA:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imaginationpodcastofficialRumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheImaginationPodcastEMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.com OR standbysurvivors@protonmail.comMy Substack: https://emmakatherine.substack.com/BUY ME A COFFEE: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theimaginationVENMO: @emmapreneurCASHAPP: $EmmaKatherine1204All links: https://direct.me/theimaginationpodcastSupport the show

In a world that isn't as safe as it once was, vigilance isn't fear—it's love on watch.
After learning that progress in autism recovery can look uneven, many parents ask a very important question: “How do I know if what we're doing is actually helping?” When behaviors are the only thing we measure, it's easy to miss the quieter, foundational changes happening underneath the surface. Healing starts inside the body first—before it shows up outwardly in communication, learning, or behavior. Here are five signs your child's body may be healing, even if it doesn't look dramatic yet. 1. Changes in Sleep Patterns Sleep is one of the first systems to shift when the nervous system begins to regulate. You may notice: Falling asleep faster Waking more frequently for a period Shorter naps or deeper nighttime sleep Temporary sleep disruptions followed by improvement These changes can be the body recalibrating circadian rhythms and neurological signaling. While sleep shifts can feel frustrating, they often precede cognitive and emotional gains. 2. Digestive Shifts (Yes, Even the Messy Ones) The gut plays a central role in immune function, detoxification, and neurological health. Signs of healing can include: Changes in stool frequency or texture Increased gas or bowel movements Improved appetite or food tolerance over time Temporary digestive discomfort as toxins are released While these changes aren't always pleasant, they often indicate that the body is activating elimination pathways—a foundational step in healing. 3. Increased Emotional Expression As awareness increases, emotions often follow. Children may: Cry more easily Show frustration or excitement more clearly Seek comfort or connection Express preferences more strongly Rather than regression, this can mean your child feels safe enough in their body to express what's happening internally. Emotional expression is a sign of neurological engagement—not loss of progress... Click Here or Click the link below for more details! https://naturallyrecoveringautism.com/240

Sydney Mardi Gras 2026 falls on the first weekend of March this year so I had to get the Mardi Gras Anthems edition out ahead of time. The festival takes place over the last two weeks of February and the parade and party are the culmination of the festival. This year's edition lands firmly in the 'camp' musical arena with a veritable smorgasbord of divas contributing to the mix and a who's who of remixers lending their talents to the updated versions of these classic songs. Melbourne based DJ and producer Argonaut kicks the set off with his outstanding remix of Kylie's "What Do I Have To Do". Robert from Division 4 contributes four killer remixes here for Irene Cara, Demi Lovato, Destiny's Child and Agnes respectively. Russ Rich and Andy Allder's remix of Billie Eilish's "Birds Of A Feather" is one of my favourites and had to be included here. Reaching back in time are remixes for songs from Taxas, Madonna, Yazoo, Deniece Williams and Britney Spears. Mark from Dirty Disco pretty much owns this edition with stellar remixes for Whitney Houston, Blaze ft. Barbara Tucker and Yazoo. His remix of Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right But It's Okay" is balls to the wall incredible and his own original song "Because I Knew You" closes out the set. Unfortunately, the main closing party for this years Mardi Gras has been canceled so alternate parties are filling the gap. This years edition of Mardi Gras Anthems should keep you moving and grooving until Pride rolls around in June. Happy Mardi Gras and stay safe. Can you remember a time when you created art and lost yourself in it? When time had no meaning and you just created out of pure enjoyment? Impostor syndrome in kids is more common than we think, and how parents respond to self-doubt can shape their children's confidence for life. Joining host Elise Hu is Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as she reflects on her built resilience and found motivations throughout her life. Justice Jackson shares her best strategies for combating impostor syndrome, and finding community in a new space after becoming the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States. She and Elise reflect on practical parenting tips touched in Jackson's New York Times bestselling memoir Lovely One, now adapted for young adults, and gives words of advice for getting our kids to persevere and sometimes, simply try. Key Takeaways: Listen to, engage with, and encourage your kids to help build their confidence. Reframe hard times or hard work as opportunities for growth. Find community in new spaces to help build belonging and resilience. Acknowledge and celebrate your successes to remind yourself of your value. Dropping out of college at 21 to marry her high school sweetheart, getting divorced with 4 children, having to get a job in the 70's, -that's a lot for anyone, let alone a single woman. Marilyn, Suzy's mom, was an only child born in Jefferson City, MO in 1929. She was raised by her doting parents making sure their beautiful daughter had everything she needed or wanted. My guest recalls "my mom was beautiful as a child . She tap danced, was a ballerina and a cheerleader, everything her parents wanted in a child."Though things got tough for Suzy at a young age, the youngest of four children, Marilyn proved herself more than capable of handling most everything on her own. In time, Suzy started to bear the brunt of coming to mom's aid. An older brother's mental illness started taking its toll on the family and Suzy was there to stand by her mother and help her through these crises. Suzy's message to my listeners is "my mom was the worst." I'm fine, my life is great. So I want people to now that you can come out of of it with a really crappy mom and be fantastic."Ms. Chase's next podcast venture is "Decorating By The Book."Lot's of links below for further information for my very special guest, Suzy Chase. Send a textParents often wait, hoping a rough patch will pass, while school struggles grow and home feels stretched thin. We dig into a clear framework for knowing when concern crosses into “get support now,” how to cut through stigma, and which first steps at home can calm a child's nervous system. From predictable routines and better sleep to nutrition checks and secure attachment, we outline the practical levers that reduce anxiety and meltdowns before you even book a session. Then we break down the therapy landscape in plain language. Not every kid thrives in talk therapy; some open up through play, art, music, equine work, or body-based practices. We explain how to choose a good-fit counselor, why giving kids a say builds buy-in, and what realistic progress looks like between sessions. Expect skill building and growth—not instant fixes—and learn how to track change with simple notes on frequency, intensity, and triggers that you can share with your clinician and your child's school.Medication gets honest attention here. Used well, it can be a short-term bridge that steadies overwhelming symptoms so counseling can work. We cover the questions to ask your prescriber, how to collaborate on side effects and goals, and why exploring root causes like trauma or bullying matters as much as treating symptoms that resemble ADHD or anxiety. We also share how to respond when schools suggest medication, how to advocate without being pressured, and how to coordinate supports so the classroom, home, and therapy room pull in the same direction.Contact:podcasts@calfarley.org To Donate: https://secure.calfarley.org/site/Donation2?3358.donation=form1&df_id=3358&mfc_pref=TTo Apply:https://apply.workable.com/cal-farleys-boys-ranch/j/25E1226091/For More Information about Cal Farley's Boys Ranch:https://www.calfarley.org/Music:"Shine" -NewsboysCCS License No. 9402
In this lightning round episode, I tackle four listener questions that each highlight common pressure points in CCPT practice. First, I address a question about children who consistently want the lights turned off in session — particularly in the context of suspected trauma. I walk through the most common meanings behind darkness in play (power and control, fear, trauma associations, or simple symbolic necessity), and I explain how to honor the child's need while maintaining safety through clear "if you choose" limits. Next, I respond to questions about dollhouse setup, competition between school-based clients, and aggressive toys. I clarify why the playroom must always reset to a blank slate, why we never concede to demands to pre-stage materials, and how to handle competitiveness when children compare sessions. I also provide practical guidance on toy guns and shooters — what is appropriate, what should be avoided, and why clearly "toy-like" features matter in a CCPT playroom. Finally, I address two complex advocacy situations: when a pediatrician advises against CCPT during a high-conflict divorce, and when a severely traumatized child appears unable to engage in play therapy at all. In both cases, I emphasize calm, confident advocacy, collaboration over confrontation, and unwavering trust in the model. CCPT is not harmful when a child resists, dysregulates, or refuses to play — those behaviors often signal profound need. Our role is not to force progress, but to remain steady, patient, and faithful to the process. PlayTherapyNow.com is my HUB for everything I do! playtherapynow.com. Trigger Warning / Content Disclaimer This raw, true survivor story contains explicit details of heavy drug use, narcissistic abuse, physical violence, and attempted murder. Listener discretion is strongly advised. In this powerful episode of When Dating Hurts, we interview Abe, now 20 years old. Before diving in, we strongly recommend listening to episodes 310 and 311 where Abe's mother, Heather, shares her own harrowing story of serial narcissistic abuse, near-fatal domestic violence, and survival at the hands of her ex-husband Rick. Abe was also repeatedly emotionally and physically abused by Rick during those years. Abe bravely opens up about his experience starting at age seven and lasting until he was thirteen. He paints a vivid picture of daily abuse in a home where a child feels powerless — and reveals how his own actions played a key role in helping his mother survive. Heather and Rick were both deep in active addiction throughout this nightmare. While many assume drugs caused the abuse, Heather has always been clear: drugs do not cause narcissistic abuse or domestic violence — they make it far more dangerous and deadly. This episode drives that truth home through a child's eyes. In this episode you'll hear: • What it's really like growing up with narcissistic parents and early childhood trauma • A string of emotionally and physically abusive acts from a violent stepfather • How a young boy became an unlikely hero in his mother's fight to survive attempted murder • The brutal reality of drug addiction combined with intimate partner violence • A child's perspective on living in constant fear with no escape It is nothing short of a miracle that both Heather and Abe are alive today. If you or someone you love is trapped in narcissistic abuse, domestic violence, toxic relationships, or addiction-fueled trauma, this story delivers raw hope, validation, and proof that recovery and freedom are possible. Perfect for anyone searching: • Narcissistic abuse recovery stories • Domestic violence survivor interviews • Child survivors of narcissistic abuse • Escaping abusive relationships with children • Healing from narcissistic parents • Drug addiction and intimate partner violence • Real stories of surviving attempted murder

This conversation delves into the complexities of family law, specifically focusing on the dissolution of marriage. It covers essential topics such as jurisdiction, grounds for divorce, annulment, legal separation, and the financial implications of divorce, including property division and child custody. The discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding the legal framework surrounding divorce and the nuances that can impact outcomes in family law cases. Most people think ending a marriage is just about signing papers—easy, straightforward. But beneath the surface, family law is an intricate legal minefield where jurisdiction, constitutional rules, and detailed procedural doctrines collide. If you're a law student or legal professional aiming to master the core mechanics of divorce and annulment, this episode is your Blueprint. We reveal the hidden legal architecture behind ending a marriage—one that the courts and the Constitution fiercely guard—and teach you how to analyze any complex fact pattern with confidence.Dive into the surprising distinction between status jurisdiction and personal jurisdiction—the two critical legal gates that determine whether a court has power over your marriage and your money. Learn how domicile, not residency, is the key to establishing jurisdiction, and discover how states use durational residency requirements to prevent “forum shopping.” We unpack landmark cases like Williams v. North Carolina, exposing how courts scrutinize domicile facts to avoid “limping marriages”—where someone remains legally divorced but still legally married elsewhere, risking felony bigamy charges. Master the “divisible divorce” doctrine, which explains how a court can end the marriage but lack authority over property or support, leading to two separate legal battles. Then, we trace the evolution from fault-based grounds—like adultery, cruelty, and desertion—to the modern “no-fault” regimes, which emphasize irretrievable breakdown and separation periods. Understand how fault still influences asset dissipation and alimony, even in no-fault states. The episode breaks down crucial concepts like annulment: the difference between void marriages (bigamy, incest) that are null from the outset, and voidable marriages (fraud, duress) that can be challenged but may be ratified by conduct. Learn why the “ratification trap” is a common exam pitfall, and how to spot when a marriage is truly void or just voidable.Family law's messy but essential goal is balancing individual freedom with fair property and support division. We explore the classification of assets—separating inherited or pre-marriage property from marital assets—plus active versus passive appreciation, guiding how to allocate assets fairly. Understand how courts set support via formulas and consider fault for equitable results, especially in long marriages or cases of misconduct. As for children, the “best interests of the child” standard now dominates custody decisions, with court factors prioritizing stability and primary care, not parental rights. Child support guidelines leave little discretion, ensuring consistency across states, though visitation and support remain legally independent. Finally, we connect the dots: how federal constitutional principles, like the Full Faith and Credit Clause and due process, safeguard or restrict recognition of out-of-state divorces. We weigh the law's ongoing struggle—ordering rationality onto human chaos—acknowledging that legal recognition often stops at the human entanglement, debts, and emotional ties that courts can't easily sever.Ideal for students preparing for exams, lawyers advising clients, or anyone interested in the unseen complexities behind the seemingly simple act of ending a marriage, this episode lays out a bulletproof analytical roadmap. divorce, annulment, family law, jurisdiction, grounds for divorce, legal separation, child custody, alimony, property division, best interests of the child
From the occasional sweet as a reward, to the endless sugar available at a birthday party, junk food has become a significant part of children's diet. Welcome back to another episode of Restoring the Soul with Michael John Cusick. In today's conversation, Michael is joined by AJ Denson as they dive into the foundational building blocks of healthy relationships and spiritual well-being—the "Four S's" of attachment: seen, soothed, safe, and secure.Picking up from their previous conversation on Attachment Neuroscience and the Trinity, Michael unpacks how the story of God is ultimately a story of profound attachment, beginning with the indivisible unity of the Trinity itself. The discussion explores how these four components of attachment shape not only our childhood experiences but also our spiritual lives and adult relationships.Together, they reflect on what it means to be truly seen and delighted in, drawing parallels between the secure love a child needs and the way God knows and loves us deeply. The LORD keeps the promise He has been repeating for twenty-five years when Isaac is conceived and born to Abraham and Sarah. Although Isaac's name does recall his parents' laughter at God's promises, his name also serves as a reminder of the joy at God's gift. After Isaac is weaned, conflict arises when Sarah sees Ishmael laughing. The LORD tells Abraham that it is right to send Ishmael away because the LORD will name Abraham's offspring through Isaac. Still, the LORD takes care of Hagar and Ishmael and keeps the promise He made concerning Ishmael previously. Rev. Ryan Ogrodowicz, pastor at Grace Lutheran Church and School in Brenham, TX, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Genesis 21:1-21. To learn more about Grace Lutheran, visit gracebrenham.org. “In the Beginning” is a series on Sharper Iron that studies Genesis. The first book of Moses sets the stage for God's entire story of salvation. As we learn the beginning of the story, God prepares us to receive the fulfillment of the story: Jesus Christ, the Offspring of the woman who has crushed our enemy's head. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

A Parenting Resource for Children’s Behavior and Mental Health
Meltdowns and mood swings aren't random—they're signals from a stressed nervous system. This episode reveals 5 hidden ways your child's meltdowns and mood swings connect to mental health struggles, often long before a diagnosis. Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge, creator of Regulation First Parenting™, brings decades of expertise in childhood emotional dysregulation to guide parents with clarity and hope.Parenting a child with intense reactions can feel exhausting and isolating. You're not alone. Many parents see frequent meltdowns, sudden mood swings, or resistance to change and worry, “Am I missing something?” These behaviors aren't just “bad days”—they're signals your child's brain is struggling to regulate. In this episode, I share five predictive nervous system signals I've identified over decades of working with thousands of children. You'll learn how to recognize early warning signs of mental health challenges, support regulation, and change your child's trajectory—long before labels or diagnoses appear. Why does my child have frequent meltdowns after small frustrations?Low frustration tolerance is one of the clearest early indicators of mental health concerns and challenges in a child's mental health. Children who overreact to minor setbacks often struggle to pause, reflect, and problem solve under stress.Key takeaways:Explosive reactions aren't misbehavior—they indicate a dysregulated nervous system.Recovery matters: kids who struggle to calm down are at risk for anxiety, impulsivity, and emotional volatility.Parent example: A 7-year-old melts down every time homework is hard. After co-regulation exercises and consistent scaffolding, these outbursts gradually lessen. How do restrictive eating habits signal mental health struggles?Children who resist textures, smells, or new foods may have a nervous system stuck in stress mode, experiencing the world as unsafe. This can affect a child's sleep patterns, emotional regulation, and even academic performance.Tips for parents:Observe patterns in eating—they can reflect underlying distress, not just picky behavior.Work with occupational therapists for sensory support.Ensure nutritional balance to support emotional health and overall well being.

If you've ever wondered why life feels beautiful and broken at the same time…this message is for you.Starting in Gospel of Luke 24 and walking all the way back to Genesis, we trace the story Jesus says we often miss: the whole Bible is about Him. Not moral heroes to copy. Not disconnected stories. But one unfolding rescue...from a good God, in a good world, shattered by a terrible lie…and pursued by relentless grace. Why do we hide? Why do we blame? Why do we try to fix ourselves with success, religion, or control, only to feel more exhausted? Because, like Adam and Eve, we've believed something about God that isn't true. And that lie still shapes our fear, shame, and striving today. But the story doesn't end in the garden. In the middle of our rebellion, God comes looking: “Where are you?”He provides a covering. He makes a promise. And He sends a Child who would be wounded—but would ultimately crush the serpent. This isn't abstract theology. It's hope for hospital rooms. Hope for grief. Hope for anxiety. Hope for the moments when you're walking through disappointment and wondering where God is.If you're tired of trying to be your own savior…If suffering has made you question whether God is really good…If you long for home, wholeness, and peace…Come see how the Gospel didn't begin in Matthew. It began in a garden and it changes how you walk through yours today.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:1. What do you learn about God's character from Genesis 1-3?2. What subtle lie about God is easiest for you to believe? Especially in times of stress, suffering, or disappointment?3. Adam and Eve try to cover their shame with fig leaves. Do you ever wear a mask to protect yourself or hide the broken parts of you? What is that mask or “fig leaf?”4. How does seeing Jesus as “The Greater Adam” shape the way you understand yourself? (Rom 5:6-21)5.
