    Today on the Elite Physical Therapy podcast we are joined by special guest Stephanie Wheeler PT, DPT. Dr. Wheeler is a clinic director at Elite's Charles Street clinic in Providence, RI. Today on the podcast Dr. Wheeler and I discuss the vestibular system: what is it? what role does it play in the body? and how important rehabilitation can be for someone who has a vestibular disorder and/or deficits. Stephanie discusses how a vestibular evaluation can be different from a general post-op or orthopedic injury/deficit. We discuss specifically the most common vestibular disorder treated in the physical therapy field benign proximal positional vertigo (BPPV). We cannot stress enough how important it is to seek help if you have these symptoms, as some symptoms, if BPPV, can be cleared in only a few visits. We end our discussion by discussing continuing education course fellow physical therapists and students should consider if they would like to learn more about vestibular therapy. Another very informative episode for all, especially for those who suffer with constant episodes of dizziness or balance issues along with up in coming PT students who want to learn more about this subset in the field. Rachael discusses the different types of concussions and how, as a physical therapist, she identifies and test for different deficits and determines an effective treatment strategy for these patients. Rachael discusses the common healing process of a concussion but does encourage those who have symptoms longer then usual to seek out physical therapy as soon as they can to reduce the risk of having chronic symptoms.     Today on the Elite Physical Therapy podcast we are joined by special guest Jason Harvey PT, MSPT who is a co-owner of Elite Physical Therapy. We have a great discussion about baseball rehabilitation, especially those who are suffering from a throwing related injury. Jason discusses the most commonly seen deficits in young athletes who have sustained an injury from throwing a baseball and how physical therapy can help analyze and rehabilitate these patients to return back to sport. Jason delves deeper into the actual biomechanics that the shoulder and elbow go through during a pitch. He discuss the mechanics from the moment a pitchers starts their wind up all the way to when they release the ball and follow through motion. He discusses further the required biomechanics, range of motion, stability, and strength needed by an athletes shoulder, elbow, trunk, and hip to throw properly and reduce the risk of injury in future outings. We move into discussing how COVID could effect players off all ages risk of injury due to reduction in spring training and practice prior to the seasons starting. Overall a great and very informative podcast thats a great listen for all, especially those who are baseball athletes, parents of those athletes, or someone who just loves the game itself and would like to learn more about it. Nicole discusses how these deficits are assessed and can be treated effectively with physical therapy.
