Depois que a Academia de Artes e Ciências Cinematográficas divulgou nas redes sociais uma foto de Wagner Moura no Governors Awards, o público fez história, novamente: foram mais de 156 mil comentários, um número que superou, de longe, as reações dedicadas a outras grandes estrelas da noite. Cleide Klock, correspondente da RFI em Los Angeles Esse mar de engajamento, que havia acontecido também no ano passado com a foto de Fernanda Torres, marcou simbolicamente o início da campanha “para valer” de Moura nos Estados Unidos. Um dia antes de ir à festa, ele conversou com a RFI e já falava do poder dos brasileiros nas redes sociais. “Eu estava com a Nanda [Fernanda Torres] no Governors Awards ano passado. Eu lembro da gente conversando ali e lembro dela falando assim: 'eu não tirei a foto ainda, vou lá tirar'. A foto da Nanda teve um milhão de likes. As fotos de todas as estrelas americanas que estavam lá não tiveram nem um milésimo do que ela teve. Eu acho maravilhoso!", lembrou o protagonista de “O Agente Secreto”. Wagner Moura agora vê a história se repetir no engajamento e no favoritismo do filme de Kleber Mendonça Filho na categoria de produção internacional. Após finalizar uma temporada teatral no Brasil, o ator desembarcou em Los Angeles e já iniciou uma agenda intensa de campanha para o Oscar. Paralelamente, como é padrão na temporada, ele também faz campanha para o Globo de Ouro, Critics' Choice e demais premiações dos sindicatos que moldam o rumo da corrida. “Fiquei um tempo afastado dessa parte. Kleber Mendonça Filho viajou muito, e agora estou totalmente comprometido com isso. É muito bom, porque você senta com os outros atores, escuta seus colegas também de outros lugares, que fizeram outros filmes maravilhosos esse ano. Isso é uma troca muito boa. Você poder ouvir outras pessoas, de outras latitudes no mundo, falando do seu filme. Estamos aqui nos Estados Unidos, e depois vou para muitos países europeus, Inglaterra, Itália, Espanha, França. É campanha, é isso, é viajar e falar do filme pelo mundo”, diz. A perna cabeluda Nesta última semana, Wagner Moura participou da primeira sessão paga de “O Agente Secreto” em território americano. No dia 26 o filme entra em circuito comercial nos Estados Unidos. O ator também comentou quais são as conversas mais frequentes após as sessões. “Eu acho muito engraçadas as perguntas sobre a perna cabeluda. A primeira vez que eu ouvi falar da perna cabeluda foi na música de Chico Science, que inclusive é a música que eu botei na abertura do Marighella, que diz que 'Galeguinho do Coque não tinha medo da perna cabeluda'. Só agora, trabalhando com o Kleber, fui entender que a perna cabeluda virou uma lenda urbana no Recife porque jornalistas, para driblar a censura, em vez de denunciar a brutalidade policial, diziam que quem tinha feito aquelas coisas havia sido essa perna saltitante. Ela virou notícia no jornal e as pessoas trancavam a porta da casa por medo da perna cabeluda", explicou o ator. “É muito bom isso, você ver um pedaço do seu país sendo mostrado. Acho muito importante que o público fora do Brasil veja aquilo, mas acho mais importante que nós brasileiros também vejamos. Não consigo entender ainda a lógica de quem não acha que o governo deveria apoiar a cultura, de que a cultura não é uma coisa importante para o desenvolvimento do país. Fico querendo ver algum argumento", reitera. Favoritismo Wagner não é apenas favorito nas redes: as listas iniciais de possíveis indicados a melhor ator ao Oscar 2026 já colocam o ator brasileiro ao lado de nomes como Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Leonardo DiCaprio (Uma Batalha Após a Outra), Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) e Michael B. Jordan (Pecadores). Mas foi a atualização mais recente do The Hollywood Reporter que surpreendeu até os fãs mais otimistas. Wagner Moura aparece como o número 1 entre os favoritos. “Mostra que você está num momento muito bonito da trajetória como artista, tendo esse tipo de reconhecimento. Essa indicação ainda não veio e não gosto de ficar falando disso, mas é maravilhoso. É um filme brasileiro, um ator brasileiro. Eu acho maneiro. Na Bahia, o pessoal tem orgulho”, brinca. O filme "O Agente Secreto" não nasceu para entrar na corrida do Oscar, mas do desejo de entregar um filme sólido, impactante, com identidade brasileira e potência universal. Quando um trabalho é feito com essa qualidade, o Oscar deixa de ser um objetivo distante e passa a ser uma consequência possível. Mas envolve muitas camadas, entre elas a de ter um distribuidor poderoso, como a Neon, que aposta na campanha nos Estados Unidos. “Já fiz tanto filme. Fiz muito filme ruim, sempre com o intuito de fazer bem, mas é difícil. Quando vem um bom, você fica querendo que aquilo esteja nas discussões, nas conversas, como 'O Agente Secreto' está. Não digo que o Oscar é um sonho, mas é claro que às vezes você pensa que o filme poderia estar ali. Já fiz alguns filmes em que pensei nisso, como o próprio 'Tropa de Elite', o 'Guerra Civil', que foi um filme que fiquei muito surpreso de ter passado batido, no ano passado, na premiação dos Oscars”, lamenta. O reconhecimento crítico, o carinho do público e a empolgação dos brasileiros que têm um engajamento sem igual em qualquer lugar do mundo, apenas aceleraram um movimento que já está em curso, apesar de ter ainda muito chão pela frente e muita coisa pode acontecer no meio do caminho. A festa do Oscar acontece em 15 de março. “Eu gostei tanto de fazer 'O Agente Secreto', foi uma coisa tão importante para mim, e as pessoas gostam dele. Então, para mim, para Kleber, é incrível a gente poder estar falando, viajando o mundo, conversando com as pessoas, ouvindo o tipo de pergunta que as pessoas fazem sobre o filme em diferentes partes do mundo, sobre a cultura brasileira, de Pernambuco, do Recife, do Nordeste.
