This week's episode is another panel discussion recorded live at our Brewers Retreat in the hop country of Yakima, Washington, and features three brewers with decided experience brewing fresh hop beers—Kevin Smith of Bale Breaker, Zach Turner of Single Hill, and Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River. Through this ranging conversation, the three discuss celebrating the current harvest through the raw flavor of wet hops, how fresh hop brewing started and grew in the U.S., anchoring fresh hop recipes in ways that allow for late changes in varietals, planning for certain hops to arrive at specific times, designing recipes to highlight the flavor contributions of wet hops, managing pH swings, fresh hop addition methods, newer hop varieties like Thora, and much more. This episode is brought to you by: G&D Chillers G&D's new Elite 290 Micro-series runs on a natural refrigerant with near-zero global warming potential (GWP)—built for brewers who care about sustainability and performance. Most advisors go into a transition focused on the upfront money. Very few are prepared for everything that happens after they walk out the door. Some surprises are good ones. Clients move faster than expected. Assets go up, not down. The income jump is real. But there are also things advisors consistently underestimate, overlook, and wish they had negotiated differently. In this episode of Advisor Talk, Frank LaRosa and Stacey Frank do a post transition breakdown of the things advisors wish they had known going in, including what they underestimate about client loyalty, what they leave on the table in negotiations, and the operational realities that no one warns them about until it is too late. Frank also breaks down the shrink to grow concept, why payout structure matters more than the upfront check long term, and why the first 30 days of a transition can make or break the entire move. Frank and Stacey also discuss what separates advisors who have a smooth transition from those who struggle, and why the more preparation you put in before the move, the less stress you will face after it. Questions answered in this episode include: How many clients do financial advisors actually retain when they switch firms? What do advisors consistently underestimate when making a move? Should a financial advisor negotiate payout or upfront money? What is the shrink to grow concept in financial advisor transitions? What operational issues do advisors face in the first 30 days after a transition? How should a financial advisor prepare their support staff before making a move? What should advisors ask firms to include in their transition support package? Why does every diet eventually end with you back where you started? Ben Fudge says the problem was never your willpower. It was the plan. Ben Fudge, head coach of the Elite program at Trevor Kashey Nutrition and a former Army Ranger, reveals Cognitive Nutrition: a behavior-first method that turns new eating habits into skills that finally hold. He walks through the SRO model, why you track before you target, and how to stay calm when the cookie is right in front of you. Meet our guest Ben Fudge is the head coach of the Elite program at Trevor Kashey Nutrition (TKN). A former Army Ranger with four overseas deployments, he brings military-grade discipline and structure to coaching built on TKN's Cognitive Nutrition method, developed by Dr. Trevor Kashey. Ben has helped clients lose over 100 pounds in a single year and coaches high-performing men to match their body to the life they have already built. Behavior change, not willpower, is what makes new habits stick. The SRO model (Stimulus, Response, Outcome) inserts time and space before you react. Track everything to the gram first, before setting any target. Fix protein and calories, then run the big four: sleep, hydration, nutrition, activity. One slip is not total failure. Do not slash the other three tires over one flat. Rehearse high-risk moments ahead of time instead of relying on willpower. What do the people closest to power really think about the system they serve? That's perhaps one of the most important questions one could ask about North Korea, still one of the world's least understood countries.  Today, we're joined by Jieun Baek, author of Privileged But Powerless: How North Korean Elite Grievances Reveal the Regime's Greatest Weakness (Yale UP, 2026). She draws on in-depth interviews with North Korean elite escapees—from senior party cadres and diplomats to military officers and wealthy, politically connected figures—to explore a group often assumed to be secure, influential, and loyal. She finds that even those with access to better housing, education, overseas postings, and material comforts remain subject to a political system in which one misstep can have devastating consequences—not only for themselves, but for their families.  We talk about what it means to be an elite in North Korea, why some people defect while others stay, and what elite grievances can and can't tell us about the country's future. Jieun Baek is an author and scholar specializing in authoritarian governance, regime stability, elite political behavior, and information access in closed societies, with a particular focus on North Korea and Burma. Her research draws on more than fifteen years of fieldwork and sustained engagement with hard-to-reach populations, including defectors, dissidents, diplomats, former officials, and individuals operating within and across tightly controlled political systems. She is also the author of North Korea's Hidden Revolution: How the Information Underground Is Transforming a Closed Society (Yale University Press: 2016).  She can be found on LinkedIn and Instagram. This episode features Max Hooper, a coach whose career has taken him from Division I shooting specialist to some of the highest levels of professional basketball. Hooper became a viral name in college basketball during the 2015–16 season at Oakland University, where he took 257 three-point attempts (shooting nearly 45%) while playing alongside NBA draft pick Kay Felder. Since then he's built a coaching résumé spanning Brewster Academy, an associate/video coordinator role with the Bubble-era Lakers, an assistant and head video coordinator stint with the Dallas Mavericks (including a 2022 Western Conference Finals run and a 2024 Finals appearance), and most recently a season as head coach of the Texas Legends in the G League. Hosts Tyler Clark and Coleman Ayers dig into his full journey as a player, shooting specialist, player development coach, and first-time head coach. The conversation covers a lot of ground: what elite, high-volume shooting workouts actually looked like for Hooper in college; the "scientist vs. artist" spectrum of how great shooters think about their own mechanics; and the mental side of being a shooter — building the kind of bulletproof confidence that survives a cold streak. From there the discussion shifts to player development philosophy, with Hooper offering a detailed, practical breakdown of how he's applied the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) at every level of his career — from freelancing with college players to justifying and "masking" CLA principles inside NBA and G League team structures. He closes by getting into an underexplored topic for head coaches: how to develop and empower your own coaching staff, especially in an environment like the G League where the roster (and sometimes the staff) turns over constantly.Timestamps:00:52 — Pre-show catch-up and Max's job search update 05:56 — Intro and guest background 07:51 — Max's 257-three-point-attempt season at Oakland 12:14 — The responsibility behind a shooter's green light 13:20 — A D1 shooter's daily training schedule 16:33 — Adding randomness and decision-making to shooting workouts 17:56 — Why even elite shooters still use cookie-cutter reps 19:33 — Learning from Korver, Duncan Robinson, Troy Daniels, Anthony Morrow, Klay Thompson 24:04 — The "scientist vs. artist" shooter archetypes 30:27 — Knowledge of vs. knowledge how; shooting coaches doing more harm than good 33:48 — Building a bulletproof shooter's mindset 39:36 — Leading the person first (Jamarion Sharp example) 42:52 — The emotional side of player development 44:08 — Building the Mavericks' player development structure 49:34 — Implementing CLA as a player, then as a coach 50:43 — Finding the "appropriate challenge point" 52:41 — Justifying player development methods at the NBA level 54:07 — Mavs example: "Luca passing" vs. "Kyrie passing" drills 55:15 — Translating CLA into NBA coverage language 56:23 — Blending CLA with player and coach buy-in 59:10 — Progressive constraints: bingo cards and scoring systems 1:01:00 — Meeting players where they're at with CLA 1:04:22 — Should the defense know the constraint? 1:05:12 — Intentional CLA vs. CLA as a buzzword 1:07:05 — Individualizing constraints within one group workout 1:08:19 — The three levels of CLA 1:09:08 — Team-wide constraints with the Legends 1:13:11 — Trusting players to think critically 1:16:27 — CLA in high-turnover (G League) vs. stable programs 1:20:10 — How much time a head coach should spend developing staff 1:22:27 — Building an onboarding process for new players 1:26:42 — Coaching adaptability under fast-changing circumstances 1:28:20 — The head coach as "the glue" of the organization 1:29:25 — Empowering young assistants (shoutout to Sharon Dorsey Walker, Doug Levy) 1:33:39 — Closing thoughtsResources & Links:Free Resources: https://byanymeanscoaches.com/resources BAM Coaches Platform: https://platform.byanymeanscoaches.com/#/platform Books: https://byanymeanscoaches.com/blueprint-bookIf you enjoyed this conversation with Max Hooper, check out these episodes next:G-League Coach of the Year, Vitor Galvani, on Why Player Development Isn't Linear, G-League Practices, Being Where Your Feet Are and Much More https://www.buzzsprout.com/1911095/episodes/19047395-g-league-coach-of-the-year-vitor-galvani-on-why-player-development-isn-t-linear-g-league-practices-being-where-your-feet-are-and-much-moreIndividualizing Group Workouts https://www.buzzsprout.com/1911095/episodes/19111270-individualizing-group-workoutsWhat Science Says About Shooting Through Fatigue https://www.buzzsprout.com/1911095/episodes/19032348-what-science-says-about-shooting-through-fatigue

Jeffrey Epstein cultivated relationships within segments of France's political and cultural elite, using wealth, connections, and social access to move comfortably among influential figures. Central to the scrutiny is Jack Lang, a longtime French political figure whose ties to Epstein are detailed in newly surfaced materials showing years of communication, meetings, and requests for assistance. The interactions suggest a relationship built on access and mutual benefit, raising questions about how someone with Epstein's known criminal history was able to maintain such proximity to prominent individuals. Lang has maintained that he was unaware of Epstein's past offenses, though that claim has been increasingly questioned given how widely known those issues had become. The situation has drawn attention from French authorities, who have opened financial inquiries examining potential irregularities connected to Lang and his family. More broadly, the episode highlights how Epstein operated internationally—not necessarily through overt criminal activity in every location, but by leveraging influence, funding, and personal connections to embed himself within elite circles. It underscores a recurring pattern seen across multiple countries: individuals in positions of power maintaining relationships with Epstein despite warning signs, contributing to a wider failure of scrutiny and accountability that extended far beyond the United States.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Epstein in Paris: How a Sex Offender Hustled for Access to France's Elite - The New York TimesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of The Beyond Condition Podcast, Sarah Parker shares her first experience attending a Pure Elite competition as a coach, alongside long-term client Dee, who competed in the Transformation category. What does it really take to step onto a bodybuilding stage when you've already overcome some of the biggest challenges of your life?Dee's journey is about far more than physique transformation. Having overcome drug and alcohol dependency, she took her fitness journey to the next level, through finding The Beyond Condition Podcast and began a journey that eventually led her to bodybuilding. After a previous prep was postponed following a health scare, Sarah made the decision to prioritise Dee's wellbeing and wait until 2026 - proving that sometimes the best coaching decision is knowing when not to compete. At Pure Elite, Dee entered the Transformation category, where competitors not only showcase their physical transformation but also share their personal story through a projected image and narration. For Sarah, this created a powerful reminder of what bodybuilding and fitness can represent beyond placings and trophies. The episode also takes listeners behind the scenes of three very different bodybuilding competitions - an IFBB Pro Qualifier in Denmark, an NPA Natural show and Pure Elite - comparing backstage environments, coach involvement, athlete support and the very different experiences competitors can have depending on their federation and circumstances.Sarah also discusses one of her core coaching principles: stay in your lane. Knowing your experience, being honest with your athletes and understanding when you need to learn or refer someone elsewhere are essential parts of being a good coach. And once the competition is over, what should you actually eat?Sarah shares her approach to post-show nutrition and recovery, including why rehydration should come first, why planning your post-show meal matters and why athletes often regret feeling pressured to immediately eat everything in sight. In this episode, we explore:• Dee's incredible transformation journey • Overcoming addiction and discovering bodybuilding • Why Sarah postponed Dee's previous competition prep • The Pure Elite Transformation category • Why transformation is about more than a placing • Sarah's first Pure Elite experience as a coach • Comparing three very different competition environments • IFBB Pro Qualifier experiences • Natural bodybuilding competition backstage dynamics • Coach presence and athlete support backstage • Why coaches need to "stay in their lane" • Being honest about your experience as a coach • Why coaches should support rather than compete against each other • Managing realistic expectations around competition placings • Why coaches can't guarantee results • Supporting anxious athletes on show day • Post-show hydration and nutrition • Why you shouldn't feel pressured to binge immediately after competing • Planning your post-show meal in advance • The difference between finishing a season and preparing for another showA competition isn't just about the trophy.Sometimes it's about proving to yourself that you're capable of doing something you once believed was impossible. And sometimes the biggest win happens long before you ever step on stage. This is bodybuilding beyond the condition.Watch the episode here: https://youtu.be/DNlQ4pN4T6YFind Sarah on Instagram: @sarahparker_bbTHE ULTIMATE SHOW DAY GUIDE E-BOOK: Purchase hereBeyond Condition Coaching Application: Click here

You're booked solid. All the creative projects you wanted. All the clients saying yes. Your portfolio is overflowing. But you're exhausted. Overworked. The money isn't matching the hustle. And you're wondering if building a bigger creative business means becoming a manager of people you don't want to manage. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I sit down with Laura Higgins, who went from struggling with pricing and positioning to building a multi-seven-figure creative business. More importantly, she did it without losing the freedom, fun, or creativity that makes the work worth doing. Here's what most creatives don't realize: being good at your craft isn't enough. A photographer can take stunning photos. A designer can create beautiful work. An agency owner can deliver incredible results. But when it comes to pricing, selling, marketing, and building systems? Most creatives freeze. We talk about how Laura got the "niche slap" early on, shifted her entire positioning, and built a tiered system that serves creatives at every stage-from beginners to six-figure earners making $150K/month. What you'll learn: → Get the niche slap - Why serving everyone means helping no one (and how narrowing down changes everything) → Solve for what they don't want - Why negative positioning attracts better clients than positive promises → Build a tiered approach - How to serve different avatars at different revenue stages with different offers → Promise identity, not income - Why shifting from "make $30K/month" to "become this version of yourself" keeps clients longer → The creative business problem - Why photographers, designers, and agencies stay booked but broke → How to position yourself as the expert in the creative space → The benchmark that works (and why it matters for your pricing) Real insights from the episode: Laura's journey from starting a creative business at 23 with no idea how to sell The moment Colin told her "you're serving too many people" (the niche slap) How she started with a $9 product (Fully Booked) to filter for the right people Why her original promise of "$5K to $30K/month" had people leaving when they hit $30K How shifting to a $10K/month benchmark changed her entire business The difference between marketing to income vs identity Why some clients want $30K/month with 20 hours of work, others want $150K/month with a small team How creatives lose their creativity when they scale (and how to prevent it) The role of messaging when different people have different goals Why "what they don't want" matters more than "what they do want" Connect with Laura on Instagram @laurahiggins (it's aura, not laura, because she's Australian). DM her, tell her you listened to The Expert Edge. #1057 What if the only thing standing between you and your next level of success isn't strategy — but the way your mind handles pressure, uncertainty, and fear? In this episode, host Kirsten Tyrrel sits down with Itamar Marani — former Israeli special operations and undercover agent turned elite performance coach — to unpack how high achievers unlock their next level when pressure is high and clarity is low. Itamar shares his surprising path from special ops to running a marketing agency, to being urged by successful founders to “ditch the agency and coach,” ultimately leading to his coaching-and-consulting business. He breaks down the three “success killers” that quietly cap an entrepreneur's growth and how to shift from emotion-driven decisions to strategy-driven action so you can stop procrastinating, stop playing small, and start performing like the version of you who already has the results! (Original Air Date - 12/29/25) What we discuss with Itamar: + Special ops to entrepreneurship + Mindset under pressure + From agency to coaching + Elite performance principles + Imposter syndrome & discomfort + Three “success killers” + Playing not to lose + Emotion vs strategy + Permission to take action Thank you, Itamar! Coaching advice almost always starts with, “It depends.” In this special Ask the Coaches episode, Don and Scott take away that safety net by forcing Ian Sharman, Hal Koerner, and Ellie Greenwood to make definitive choices on some of trail running's biggest debates. Is it better to be undertrained or overtrained? Should you trust data or your instincts? Would you add mileage or strength training? Can motivation be taught? Along the way, the coaches reveal not only their philosophies, but also the surprising amount of agreement behind them. 86% of employees at Canada's Best Workplaces say management keeps them informed about important issues and changes, according to Great Place to Work Canada. That statistic underscores a fundamental truth about organizational success: trust, transparency, and communication matter—especially when organizations and their people are navigating change. High-trust workplace cultures can also have a powerful impact on employee retention, engagement, collaboration, and an organization's ability to navigate uncertainty. When employees trust their leaders, understand where the organization is going, and feel connected to the people around them, teams are better positioned to perform when circumstances become challenging. So, how can leaders build teams that communicate faster, trust more deeply, and execute effectively when things get messy? On this episode of Let's Have This Conversation, I'm joined by Tyler Hayden, a Hall of Fame keynote speaker, Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), bestselling author, and organizational development consultant who has spent more than 30 years working with teams—from outdoor leadership environments to corporate boardrooms. Tyler has worked with organizations including TD Bank, Bell, Honeywell, and Pratt & Whitney, helping leaders strengthen communication, engagement, collaboration, and organizational culture. His promise for every engagement is simple: High energy. Real tools. Measurable behaviour change. Tyler's work sits at the intersection of leadership and manager development, team engagement, employee retention, workplace culture, experiential learning, facilitation, and evidence-based approaches to creating lasting behavioural change. During our conversation, we explore what separates an ordinary collection of employees from a truly high-performing team. We discuss how leaders can establish trust, improve communication, strengthen employee engagement, and create workplace cultures where people are prepared to perform through uncertainty and organizational change. We also examine the power of storytelling in leadership and why the stories leaders tell—and the way they communicate them—can influence trust, belonging, motivation, and organizational identity. Tyler also shares insights from his proprietary MIQ approach, his philosophy of experiential learning, and what three decades of working directly with teams have taught him about creating learning experiences that actually stick. At its core, this conversation is about creating elite workplace cultures where communication is clear, trust is intentional, leadership is human, and employees are equipped to perform when the pressure rises. If you're a CEO, executive, HR professional, people leader, manager, organizational development professional, or anyone responsible for building stronger teams, this conversation offers practical insights into turning workplace culture from an abstract concept into a measurable competitive advantage.   For more information: https://tylerhayden.com/ Get the books: https://www.amazon.ca/stores/Tyler-Hayden/author/B00N9P1SHC?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=gBysS&content-id=amzn1.sym.aaa4948b-dfc3-44fd-9219-af24eb02108e&pd_rd_wg=xtrkQ&pd_rd_r=e0e1976e-1412-48db-9567-2703a8b4678f&ref=ap_rdr&shoppingPortalEnabled=true Discover more: https://rubberchicken.ai/ Learn more about your ad choices. In this milestone 500th episode of the Lead Up Podcast, host Mike Harbour reflects on the lessons, conversations, and never-quit moments that have shaped the show since its beginning in 2019. But this episode isn't simply a celebration of reaching 500. It's about the behavior behind the breakthrough. We tend to see the milestone, the achievement, or the breakthrough. What we don't always see are the small decisions, habits, preparation, discipline, doubt, recommitment, and repeated choices that made that moment possible. Drawing lessons from 500 episodes and the remarkable CEOs, healthcare executives, authors, founders, coaches, and leaders who have joined him along the way, Mike explores one of the most important lessons the podcast has taught him: You don't rise to the milestone. You repeat your way there. Mike connects that lesson directly to leadership. Elite leadership isn't built through one great speech, strategy session, meeting, or big decision. It's built by repeatedly practicing the thinking, habits, conversations, standards, and behaviors that eventually become trust, credibility, accountability, culture, and results. In this episode, Mike discusses: Why milestones aren't built in moments—they're built in behaviors Why you don't rise to elite leadership—you repeat your way there How repetition eventually becomes reputation Why the best leaders don't necessarily have easier roads, but stronger commitments Why perseverance isn't stubbornness, but staying committed to the purpose while being willing to change the plan Why preparation is one of the clearest signals that you care Why leaders need habits that are stronger than their moods As you listen, Mike challenges you to consider your own leadership: What is your never-quit moment right now? Where are you tired, discouraged, or questioning whether the effort is worth it? And perhaps more importantly: What behavior would prove that you haven't quit? Because breakthroughs rarely happen in one dramatic moment. They're built through hundreds of smaller decisions stacked on top of each other—one conversation, one habit, one act of courage, one moment of discipline, and one decision to keep leading. To every guest, listener, leader, and friend who has been part of the first 500 episodes of the Lead Up Podcast: thank you. We're just getting started. If you found this episode valuable, please leave a 5-star review and share it with another leader. Five of Elite's top producers sat down together in Cancun to talk about what actually makes this job matter. Frank goes around the table asking each consultant what they enjoy most about the work. Tricia talks about relationships and education, Julie compares every advisor conversation to solving a puzzle, Stacey points to the reward of bringing advisors accurate information in an industry full of misconceptions, Bruce talks about the value of being authentic and getting to know clients on a personal level and Dom shares how twenty-five years as a wholesaler let him rekindle old relationships in a brand new context. Tricia opens up about how eye opening the tax side of W2 versus 1099 was once she crossed over to this side of the business and why she likes to show advisors both paths so they can learn something new about their own business along the way. Bruce lays out a universal truth, that most financial advisors only understand the world inside their own firm and explains why a twenty thousand foot view changes everything. Dom breaks down why even advisors with decades of relationships still benefit from a genuinely objective third party. Stacey shares her go-to answer for advisors who ask why they should work with her over someone they already know and introduces one of the firm's guiding beliefs, that the right answer always surfaces. Frank closes with his Tom Brady analogy for why even elite performers rely on an agent instead of going it alone. The panel wraps by weighing in on whether the industry is shifting back toward W2 structures, especially for advisors nearing retirement who are being offered deals north of four hundred percent. Questions answered in this episode include: What do Elite's consultants enjoy most about helping financial advisors? What does it mean to be authentic with a client instead of just closing a deal? Why do advisors who already have industry relationships still need a consultant? What is the universal truth most financial advisors don't realize about their own knowledge? Why does the right answer always surface during the due diligence process? Is the financial advisor industry shifting back toward W2 firms? Should advisors ignore the money when it comes to major transition deals?
