Conversations about spray polyurethane foam and specialty coatings. Titan Applicators sits down with architects, general contractors and customers, addresses real-life issues.
"Our company is certified through the SPFA [Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance]. I have done a Master Project Manager Certification and Aaron has done a Master Installer Certification. Everything that they did and talked about was great. There's nothing wrong with their program. Is being certified by the SPFA going to fix the problem? Ultimately, if [contractors] can't afford to do the job right to begin with, how are they going to afford doing a certification through the SPFA? Would it help? I don't think it would hurt. But. ultimately, it comes down to the agreement between the roofing contractor and the person selling them the product. The manufacturers have some responsibility, too. They need to make sure that their installers are trained correctly in installing a roofing system. When we get into spray foam, it's not one of those methods of roofing that you can learn in a month. I would even argue that you can't learn it in a year. To really understand how to install a spray foam roof correctly, it takes several years." - Southwest Spray Foam & Roofing Matt's Email: matt@southwestsprayfoam.com - The Titan Applicators Podcast - Home
Corey Pantuso is a Territory Manager for Specified Technologies Inc. & 17 year veteran in the fire protection industry. Through his various roles, Corey has seen a lot of change. "I've started to see the market change where GC's are now seeking out professional firestop contractors... to come in and provide way more knowledge & do the job correctly right from the start. It eliminates delays & often times even brings the job in earlier because the firestoppping is done much faster. It can save the general contractor & building owner a lot of money." - Corey's LinkedIn: Corey Pantuso | LinkedIn - Titan Applicators | Fire Stopping
Josh Jones is the President of Substrate Technology Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of floor grinders, polishers and other surface prep equipment; and he's been working in concrete prep for 29 years! But, he's not just some distributor who talks the talk. He also walks the walk, literally. I've been following him on LinkedIn & Facebook for about one year and I've probably watched him walk over 5,000 miles in all of the educational and informative surface prep videos he posts on-line. Josh is the king of concrete surface prep content; and it's not content that pushes his products and services. He adds tremendous value to his followers by sacrificing the integrity of his own warehouse floor to test, troubleshoot and demonstrate real-world applications of surface prep tools and concrete coating applications. - Josh's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshjones75/ Josh's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sonofprepmaster
Michael "Foam It" Fischer, of Dakota Applicators, is a 10 year spray foam insulation industry who has overcome a lot of adversity to get where he is at today. I spoke with Michael about the struggles he and his brother, DJ, overcame in their early days, why he left his family farming business to focus solely on spray foam, and what growing into a larger market has been like. "We had zero point zero technical support, basically. Which I think is one of the biggest issues in our entire industry. No oversight. No barriers to entry. I mean, literally, if you got $35,000 and two arms, they'll sell you a [spray foam] rig." - Find Michael at: Facebook: Michael "Foam It" Fischer Website: www.dakotaapplicators.com
We sat down with spray foam veteran, John Becker, and got a brief look into his 44 year SPF career. | John explains why he leaned on the industry nerds to help advance his career. He tells us a story about how U.S. Army Officers got foam on their uniforms. Plus, in case you didn't already know, he reveals why you shouldn't install spray foam insulation while high on cocaine! Our conversation was fun, lighthearted and very informative. "I was sitting in a class one time and the instructor pointed at me & said to everyone, 'You see that guy back there? Anything that can happen has happened to him.'"
