A quick chat with Camila on her last day being one. Recorded in our apartment in Córdoba Argentina.
A quick recap of the morning’s events with the whole family in a taxi. Congratulations Elena!
Elena did well, but even on good days, homework is haaaard. The math she does at school is all in Spanish, so we end up speaking a bunch of both languages. Spoiler: she finished her homework.
Family movie night. Tonight we watched a classic. Listen as Esther tells us all about it. See how long it takes you to guess what movie it is.
Date Recorded: 6 April 2019 Location: Parque das Aves, Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil On our trip to Iguazu Falls, we spent some time in Brazil. There is a delightful bird park near the National Park entrance to the Brazil side of the falls called Parque das Aves. While walking through the park, we stopped to eat at their snack bar and there was a family of four, singing and playing music. I placed my phone nearby and hit record. The group looked to be indigenous (or at least representing indigenous dress and music). Title translation: The Bird Park Song
Date Recorded: 5 May 2019 Location: Córdoba, Argentina Sunday afternoon. Bath time. Out apartment in Córdoba, Argentina. Esther was throwing cupfulls of water over her back, most of it cascading over Camila’s face (which she enjoyed). A lot of the water missed its mark.
Date Recorded: 3 May 2019 Location: Córdoba, Argentina Good morning (which explains my froggy voice). It's Friday. There is no school today. I snuggled up to Elena to see how she'd slept and she explained to me the issue of a long lost friend in the United States. When we packed up to move to Argentina, we asked all the kids to pick two stuffed animals and Elena may have made a huge mistake, leaving Snowball behind. If you think you've seen her puppy, please alert the authorities.
Date Recorded: 2 May 2019 Location: Córdoba, Argentina I picked up Esther (age 5) from school today, and we talked about her friend Pedro. She likes Pedro, and I could tell that Pedro likes her. They like, 'like' each other. Only, not really. They're five. The recording was made while walking the streets of Córdoba, Argentina. You’ll hear the music from the shops, the cars and delivery bikes passing, and the sounds of our adopted city.
Date Recorded: 17 March 2018 Location: -31.7265294, -64.4387824 We’d been living in Argentina less than three months. Lindsay’s parents and brother were visiting so we rented a house near a river in a small town called Villa Los Aromos. It was a nice day and we’d been swimming in the river. A family approached and sat near us. The dad, a middle aged, shirtless, roundish man sat and played his guitar. I hit record. This is the sound of that late summer afternoon in the Sierras de Córdoba. Lindsay’s brother can be heard at the end, exclaiming “bravo!”
Date Recorded: 30 April 2019 Location: Córdoba, Argentina This conversation is all a whisper (and kind of hard to hear, sorry about that). It’s bed time. Camila is asleep. Nina shares some thoughts on being popular and famous while I tuck her in at the end of the day.
Date Recorded: 29 April 2019 Location: Córdoba, Argentina Camila is almost two. She doesn’t say much, so any word is a good word. This is us just hanging out, playing with an orange and admiring her new shoes. Correction: We think she's probably saying the word "shoes."
