Three guys talking about dadhood and all that goes with it, usually peppered with fun stories and relatable anecdotes from their varied experience as dads to some awesome kids.
Fall Means a Lot of Things to Different People - The dads covered several things this week as they were back from break and decided to just wing it! Starting with the changing of seasons into Fall traditions and moving all the way through to their thoughts on the midterms. Specifically, when will this election season be over? With stops speaking about football and cable news along the way, things are always interesting when these three just start talking about whatever random thing the conversation leads them to.
Enough with the Cartoons, Please! – This episode the dads discuss the things their children are currently obsessed with. From Minecraft and youtube videos to Jurrasic World and dinosaurs, the guys talk about what it's like living with very stubborn and particular children who are currently obsessing over things the dads aren't' really that passionate about. They also talk about getting them to like similar things... and how long it may be in some cases! (Sorry, Jon, but politics really isn't in a 5-year-old's wheelhouse!)
Boys Don't Have to Be Those Kinds of Boys – In this episode, the dads talk about all of the #MeToo movements happening today and what may have led to them. While looking at these moments, the dads talk about raising boys to have the utmost respect for women and be champions of the women in their lives. This is an in-depth look what the dads are doing differently from what has come before, and discuss the things they learned from their own fathers. Whether in discussion or through example, it's more important than ever to teach young boys to be young men, and know that "Boys will be Boys" is a terrible adage let alone an excuse.
Instant Families – This episode has Nick and Steve discussing the foster care and adoption systems and what it's like as a parent of children who come out of those systems. Steve gets in-depth on his experiences as a foster dad, an adoptive parent, and a stepfather. Nick asks some questions many dads have about fostering and adoption, and the dads talk about everything from misconceptions about children in those situations to how those relationships are sometimes portrayed in media.
Helicopter Parenting vs. Lawnmower Parenting vs. La-Z-Boy Parenting – The True Dadhood Fathers all accept that there are different styles of parenting, some more involved than others. They also believe some are more of a hindrance to development, but we're not going to get too involved in judgment, here. No, in this episode the dads describe their parenting styles and how they are adapted to different circumstances. Oh, and they do this while trying to eat lunch and draft a fantasy football team. Some dads are more effective at multi-tasking than others. Listen and see if you can tell when one of the dads is deciding on a 10th round draft pick between 2 runningbacks they've never heard of.
Back to School - It's that time again where all folks must send their children to school! The dads talk about what that's like from a father's perspective and what to look forward to if your kid is still in daycare
Introducing the Dads – This is the introduction to the True Dadhood podcast and the guys putting it together. Nick Smith, Steve Cox, and Jon Moran talk about issues they face as fathers in the world of today, each bringing their own unique perspective to fatherhood. From being the oldest dad at PTA to having multiple children from adoption, the guys cover some of the fun stories behind their status as "Dad".
