On this episode of the podcast we were lucky enough to catch Vince Schiffert (Turtle Clan) at the Tomahawks lacrosse fundraiser and we were able to secure an interview with the longtime Tuscarora History teacher at Niagara Wheatfield high school and the Tuscarora Elementary school. He is also a valuable member to the Tuscarora historical society.
On this episode we were fortunate to speak with Betsy about her expirence as a Tuscarora Language educator for 20+ years. She teaches language classes at Niagara University and has taught at Tuscarora Elementary School for 20 years. She continues work closely with elders to develop a greater understanding of the language so she can keep improving her curriculum for her students. Nyaweh for listening!
On this episode we have we very lucky to have Luis stop in a share his knowledge of Tuscarora White Corn and the various methods of processing Tusky corn into soup, bread and more. Luis (deer clan) has been making corn soup for many different events since 1972 and has worked every single step from planting... all the way to making the soup! His knowledge has been an accumulation of what he's learned by volunteering to help others and he gives us a very informative interview.
