Send us Fan MailA sober living home can be more than a roof. It can be a turning point. We sit down with Amber Miller, the founder of Angels House of Healing, to hear how she turned grief, addiction recovery, and a promise to break a generational cycle into a real transitional living community for women. Her story starts with losing her mother to alcoholism at 44, and the clarity that the deeper wound was unhealed trauma. From there, Amber shares what it took to get sober, face shame, and rebuild an identity rooted in values and integrity. We also get practical about what makes women's sober living work day to day: creating safety and trust for residents arriving from treatment, incarceration, or unsafe housing, setting clear standards, and building a culture where kindness includes boundaries and accountability. Amber explains who Angels House of Healing is for, why the program expects readiness and inner work, and how community can help someone stop living in survival mode.A standout takeaway is the focus on independence. Amber wants women leaving with two essentials: knowing their worth and gaining financial education. We talk about financial literacy, budgeting, and even using AI tools to help residents learn money skills that many of us were never taught. We also touch on the ripple effect of healing through kids, families, friendships, and the broader community, plus Amber's upcoming non-alcoholic one-year celebration and fundraiser, Raising Spirits, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. If this conversation hits home, subscribe to Kindness Matters, share the episode with someone in recovery, and leave a quick review so more people can find these stories. What part of Amber's approach to healing do you want to try first? This podcast is a proud member of the Mayday Media Network — your go-to hub for podcast creators. Brad discusses what he learned about high oleic soybeans at the Four State Dairy Management and Nutrition Conference in La Crosse, Wisconsin. High oleic soybeans are gaining attention in dairy nutrition because they can provide both rumen undegradable protein and a more rumen-friendly fat source, potentially reducing the need for purchased protein and fat supplements. The episode covers how high oleic beans differ from conventional soybeans, why roasting quality matters, and how measures like protein dispersibility index help determine whether beans are under- or over-processed. Brad also reviews feeding rates, farm case studies showing milk fat and energy-corrected milk responses, possible cost savings, and the pros and cons of adopting high oleic beans on dairy farms.Overall, high oleic soybeans are not a silver bullet, but they may offer dairy producers another tool for improving ration economics, milk components, and on-farm feed production when managed carefully.Questions, comments, scathing rebuttals? -> themoosroom@umn.edu or call 612-624-3610 and leave us a message!Linkedin -> The Moos RoomTwitter -> @UMNmoosroom and @UMNFarmSafetyFacebook -> @UMNDairyYouTube -> UMN Beef and Dairy and UMN Farm Safety and HealthInstagram -> @UMNWCROCDairyExtension WebsiteAgriAmerica Podcast Directory

In this episode, liturgical expert Chris Carstens and Fr. Daniel Eusterman walk step-by-step through one of the most beautiful and powerful liturgies in the life of the Church: the ordination of a priest. Whether you've attended an ordination before or have never experienced one, this conversation will help you understand the meaning behind the symbols, prayers, and sacred moments of the Mass.Together, we explore the Litany of Saints, the laying on of hands, the Prayer of Ordination, the vesting of the new priest, and the anointing of his hands with chrism. Fr. Eusterman also shares personal reflections on what it was like to lie prostrate before the altar, receive the sacrament of Holy Orders, and begin his priestly ministry. This episode is both a guide to the ordination liturgy and a meditation on the mystery of the priesthood itself.Christopher Carstens directs the Office for Sacred Worship in the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin; coordinates the Institute for Liturgical Studies at Christendom College; and edits the Adoremus Bulletin. He serves as a consultant to the USCCB's Committee on Divine Worship, and he is author of A Devotional Journey into the Mass and A Devotional Journey into the Easter Mystery (Sophia), as well as Principles of Sacred Liturgy: Forming a Sacramental Vision (Hillenbrand Books). On a quiet spring morning in La Crosse, a twenty-year-old woman was suddenly gone — dead of a heroin overdose in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. What followed was a legal case that almost never happens: two men charged not with drug delivery, but with homicide. At the center of it all is a law named for a basketball star who died nearly a quarter century earlier — a law that has since sent hundreds of people to prison across Wisconsin, and that raises questions we still don't have clear answers to. Who is responsible when addiction ends in death? Where does love end and exploitation begin? And what does justice actually look like for a twenty-year-old girl who just simply dreamed of a life working with children? Scott and Mickey discuss the case of Shelby Perkins, her tragic death and the controversial aftermath of it. In the opening banter, we discuss Oshkosh going Hollywood, and an article describing some of the oldest cold cases in our state, going back hundred(s) of years! Most independent agency owners look at a private equity acquisition as the ultimate finish line. They assume that getting bought by a massive national broker will instantly solve their back-office problems, open up new markets, and fund their ride into the sunset. But here is the harsh reality of the M&A space today: if you don't read the fine print, your dream deal can quickly turn into an absolute nightmare. My guest, John Lipton, a 30-year veteran property and casualty advisor, joins me to share one of the most unique agency trajectories you will ever hear. John built a scratch agency by hand, sold 50% of it under an accumulation structure that no longer exists today, bought the entire entity back, and turned around to sell it again 24 hours later. We break down the absolute madness of his early career trading currencies on a French bank floor during structural market collapses, why P&C is fundamentally a need-based consultative process rather than a transactional hard sale, and why agency owners must watch their peripheral vision to protect their commissions from post-acquisition contract changes. John also shares his experience as an expert witness in broker defense and how seeing egregious gaps in coverage shapes how he teaches his own team.▶▶ Sign Up For Your Free Discovery Callcompletegameu.com/agaTimestamped Outline(00:00) From the Trading Floor to the Finish Line: Introducing John Lipton(01:26) Forex Trading in the 90s: Fast Markets, Big Losses, and Structural Stress(04:05) Sitting in the Seat When the French Franc Collapsed(05:01) Job Security Over Burnout: How the Advent of the Euro Shifted the Market(06:02) The Family Gateway: Moving from Wholesale to a Retail Scratch Agency(08:42) Legacy Over Leverage: The Fortitude Required to Build a Firm from Nothing(10:21) Selling a Need: Why P&C Brokers Have an Advantage Over Life Insurance(13:47) Complex Products for Unexperienced Clients: Becoming an Educator(16:39) The Low Barrier to Entry: When Theory Fails Reality in Broker Training(18:15) Access to Markets: Why Back-Office Support Makes Acquisitions Attractive(21:03) The 50/50 Deal: How John Protected His Agency Expenses from Board Overreach(23:24) Cleaning up Shop: The Low-Price Buyback That Epic and Capacity Didn't See Coming(25:50) The 24-Hour Flip: Buying Your Business Back and Selling It the Next Day(27:51) Don't Start with the Finish Line: Why Building for an Earn-out Fails(31:47) Tadpoles in the Ocean: The Risk of Small Agencies Merging Into Mega Firms(35:52) Expert Witness Work: Leveraging Broker Defense to Identify Coverage Gaps(38:52) John's Lightning Round: Panera Coffee Sip Club, Over-40 Lacrosse, and the Ironman 70.3CONNECT WITH ANDY NEARY
In hour 2 of The Memorial Day edition of The Drive, John Davis and Chad Andrus debate which injury in Denver sports was the most impactful in derailing their team's championship hopes between Bo Nix, Cale Makar, and Aaron Gordon. Would the Nuggets have had a chance at winning a championship if Aaron Gordon were healthy? Would Bo Nix have led the Broncos to a Super Bowl if he hadn't missed the AFC Championship? Was Cale Makar the difference in the Avs being down 0-3 or being competitive in the series? How much did the coaches on each team help or hurt after each team sustained injuries? Today's "Three Count" features recapping the Spurs and Thunder as they go into game 5 in a 2-2 series stalemate, Princeton taking home the NCAA Men's Lacrosse championship, and previewing the Knicks and Cavaliers as New York looks to sweep the Eastern Conference Finals. Is trading Jamal Murray the best course of action for the Nuggets to become more flexible with the roster and also add youth and athleticism?

After a rough Bonfire show yesterday, the vibe is totally refreshed as Paul Virzi brings a professional and funny attitude to the room. | Paul has an idea for the wives to make side-cash by running a restaurant. | Bobby created a code word for his son only to be used in extreme emergencies. | Bob needs advice from a real man like Virzi because he doesn't know how to cheer encouragement to his kid during his lacrosse games. When Paul Virzi is not saving radio shows, you can find him performing stand up comedy- go to PAULVIRZI.COM for all his tour dates and info! *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more!
